I'm a recently retired Petroleum Geolgist. I began writing fiction after returning from the Gulf War, having had the dubious honor of being a member of an Army Unit that was hunted before, and all through the war, by a paramilitary unit (terrorist group) tasked to kill the Unit. At war's end I was a member of a humanitarian task force that jump-started Kuwait City immediately after the war. I've been published in Japan, the U.S. and Taiwan, and have had several stageplays produced. One of my stage plays, Voices From The Cafe, has been selected to be produced in Iran, and a screenplay I wrote based on one of my stage plays, Faces In The Raft, is being represented to the Chinese film industry by Anton Diether, a well known screenwriter. My latest stage play, An End To War An End To Peace, is based upon the possibility that Homer's The Odyssey is a poetic description of what life was like after Odysseus returned home from the Trojan War.

One of my science students has heard rumors that NASA has received a message from what might be another civilization.

Would your answer be influenced by whether or not God wasn't the Christian God, but rather turned out to be Allah, Jehovah, Shiva, or some other God you haven't heard of or don't know much about?
23 AnswersElections1 decade agoCould Demerol treat an underlying medical condition causing migraines?
For many years now, I've brought a friend to the emergency ward to be treated for migraines that were brought on by a childhood stroke. The stroke left him completely without sight in one eye, and partially sighted in the other. Treatment occurs about once every ten days.
The only thing that works on the migraines is demerol. Once when he was being treated he was hooked up to an EKG and I noticed that the two blips of a typical hearbeat merged into one peak every six beats. Based upon his facial expression I was able to deduce when the demerol kicked in, and noticed that the heatbeats became normal beats when this occurred.
The above observations have led me to the recurring question of whether the demerol could be treating an underlying medical condition that is causing the migraines, versus merely acting as a narcotic. He was also recently diagnosed with a heart murmer, which is furthering this belief. My friend has asked about this, but gets the "Are you a Dr?" answer
