  • No internet connection unless directly connected to modem, not router.?

So we had a power outage last night and now I am having problems connecting to the internet through our wireless routers...yes multiple routers I have tried. I only am able to get a connection when I connect directly to the modem. But once I connect the router to the modem and try using wireless, it only goes to "Limited", and this is on multiple devices.

  • How does the Federal Reserve bond buying program work?

OK, I know that they spend somewhere around 50-80 billion USD a month buying bonds. Who are they buying them from? Are these government bonds? Does the Fed have to be repaid when these bonds mature? How on earth do they have this much money to spend buying bonds?

  • Strong synonym for fraud.?

I am looking for a strong synonym for the word fraud. I can't find what I need on Google. Calling someone a fraud is a pretty strong statement, but I'm looking for something worse.

Tell me, what would you call someone who was a fake/fraud/impostor?

  • Music video for rock song, sky is cracking and falling?

OK, I've been going mad for the past 10 minutes trying to remember what song this is.

It is a rock song. The music video has the band playing. The sky starts to crack and fall in pieces around them, leaving I believe the night sky, then it happens again, leaving a white blank sky, the band members start to unravel and disappear.

  • What do I do about stolen hardware/computers/etc.?

I am in the process of starting up a small side biz repairing computers. I know I may run in to this problem in the future, so I want to be prepared.

I haven't decided whether or not to check all devices to see if they were stolen. I'm sure I could sense if someone is acting suspect in needing to get a password removed. But there are a few sites out there that hold a large database for serial numbers that were reported stolen devices. If I ran the serial number from the device I am fixing and it comes up as reported stolen, what is the best thing for me to do?

Refuse service, saying I can't fix it? Call the police? Something else?

  • What is the typical service agreement for virus removal?

I'd figure asking here would be quicker than waiting on a reply from Geek Squad. I would never use them, as they are a total rip off and I can remove viruses myself. But if I were to charge people to remove a virus myself, what would be the typical guarantee that one would use, i.e. Valid for three days, void if you visit a porn/warez site.

  • Book about something, only remember that sounds/words were outlawed/banned.?

Google is not being of any use. Anytime you combine the words 'book' and 'banned', it comes back with list of books that have been banned.

So, I remember reading this book a long time ago. I think it is a kids book. It is fairly weird as I recall. But there was one section that stuck out:

A king or ruler of some sort outlawed all sounds, perhaps words too. He kept all the sounds in a vault. The boy(?) was able to free the sounds/words by shooting a letter that he got from either a man on the road/town or of the tip of his tongue out of a cannon.

Yeah, I know this is a long shot, but it has been bugging me not knowing the title of the book.

  • An ethics question about computers?

So I'm sitting at home, fixing someones computer. The thought popped in to my head "What if I were to see something illegal (i.e. child porn, committing a crime, etc.)? I tried Googling, but I didn't see anything related to this exact question.

This is a volunteer repair job, a friend asked me to look at his computer. But a second question I guess, does it matter if it is a fix a friend's computer or a paid professional job?

What would be the legal/ethical thing to do?

No, I haven't seen anything illegal on this machine, and I know I won't, I trust this person. But there are people out there that aren't as credible and I am sure, there will be a day I am faced with this dilemma.

  • What name should I use for my character?

I've wrote the script for a video I am making (just getting started in making videos for YouTube) and I need a good stereotypical name for a hippie, meditating homeopathic doctor. If you come up with something good and I use it you will get credit, and 10 points.

Simple question, if the Firefox Internet browser was a woman, how would you describe her. Good or bad.

  • What should my film be about?

I know I already posted this, and the ideas were good, but I want more ideas...so don't post the same answer as before.

What should my film be about? I am in the mood for making a full length 90 minute movie. This would be a completely amateur film, extremely small budget, no more than $100. I'm leaning more towards comedy/satire, but open to all ideas. It will be a hodge-podge of a film.

Don't care how crazy of an idea you have, I want to hear it. So please, no flagging other people's answers.

  • Where to pick up watching Doctor Who?

Ok, I've only seen one episode, well 2 minutes of it, a few years ago. But I was interested in watching them. The problem is, I don't know where to begin! The show goes back for decades, different productions yes, but is it vital for me to watch those? Where should I pick up?

  • How long does this booze last?

Just found a bottle of Crown Royal that I must have opened and drank some of from over a year ago. Is this stuff still good to drink? It smells fine, but not 100% sure.

  • Can you mix dark liquor with clear soda?

I'm a fan of Jack, but I can't drink it straight, so I usually mix with root bear, Dr. Pepper, or Coke. The problem is, these three get old after a while, so can I use clearer sodas like Sprite, orange soda, etc?
