Creating a JavaScript sibling from within a parent's child?
I want to create a parent Node that contains a child Node function that needs to be able to create siblings. The following pseudo-code provides the example.
function Parent()
{
this.Child = function()
{
if (...)
alert(new this()); // want to create a new Parent.Child / Sibling
}
new this.Child();
};
new Parent();

Based on my needs I think I've found exactly what I'm looking for: the Companion Touch. It offers a carrying handle, kid durability, and how sweet is a swivel touch screen? It will fit not only in a backpack my budget as well.
Now for the specs: what do these mean in real terms?
Network: 10/100 Ethernet + WLAN 802.11 b/g/n
Ports: 1 RJ-45 10/100 LAN
2-in-1 SD/MMC Card

Should I get a mini roller ball mouse for it?
6 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks1 decade agoWhen you dance, what do you think?
As an old school raver on the dance floor consummately looking out for others' safety, who did you learn your dance style from?
You're afraid to dance? I'm sorry... I'll jump in first to break the ice.
First, I can't help but notice that most guys look like stiff zombies when thinking they're busting a groove, and I wanted nothing to do with that...
Personally, I watched the women and tried to pick up what moves I could from them less all the flamboyant arm movements women can get away with that us guys just can't do with without looking ridiculous.
But then again, everyone looks funny dancing... well at least most.
Then there's the mosh pit etiquette that pops up when someone slips and falls on a spilled drink or something and some stranger immediately picks you up off the floor... please don't freak if someone helps you up before you even realize that you fell.
Dancing is considered a sin by some repressed people, but it's a great endorphin release for those that love to get high off of life...
I guess my question is: how does your personality relate to how you express yourself in public?

3 AnswersDancing1 decade agowords that evoke negative energy?
As a lifelong mind control researcher I know that the word "conspiracy" will make many Americans automatically switch into denial mode, disbelieving anything that follows.
I surely hear people thinking I'm "full of crap" right now.
There are many other words that have the same effect, such as "UFO."
Even words like "learn" or "study" seem to elicit (compare "evoke" for those of you who have studied psychology) also appear to have negative consequences.
I want wording for the link to my UFO research at http://skewsme.com/ that doesn't contain words that trigger that "idiot response" of absolute denial.
Little help?
If you know of other trigger phrases that make people react negatively, please share them with me.

1 AnswerProgramming & Design1 decade agoIs the fidelty of a record higher near the edge or center?
The rate the needle travels the groove varies over the radius of the disk and as a result the quality of sound is going to change.
While we're at it, the amount the speeds vary would also be interesting.
2 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoHow do you swap web images mid right click?
Assume I have several images on my page in html for the searchbots, but for people trying to copy the pics (right click), I want the source to change to so they get an advertisement version instead. The display size of the ad would also need to be set. Is there a simple method to revert back to the original?
Code like this would be a great addition to websites like http://javascript.com/
1 AnswerProgramming & Design1 decade agoShould I learn Visual Basic or C# for programming with ASP .NET?
I've written the basics of a website log file analyzer in JavaScript that due to the language's restrictions cannot process a real log in a reasonable amount of time. (Apparently the random 10-12ms lags cause execution time to quadruple when the dataset is doubled.)
I'm interested in learning ASP .NET to realize my project, but I don't know which supported language is going to calculate the statistics faster, Visual Basic or C#.
I'm also interested in which of the languages is closer to emulating the JavaScript string functions as well as which is preferred by developers.
1 AnswerSoftware1 decade agoTrying to print hidden text on an HTML page using CSS?
I have an HTML page that has hidden text that I want to appear when printed:
<Head>:
@media print { .include { display:block } }
<Body>:
<div class=include style="display:none"> text</div>
In both IE and Firefox: the hidden text is not printing to paper using this convention.
I can use the same technique to force hiding stuff that I don't want printed such as advertisements, but making default text that is hidden appear doesn't work unless the text is made visible first (using JavaScript to show it for example).
I really don't want to have to make a Print button on my page to force showing the hidden text.
Is this some sort of kludge to prevent spamming or something?
What do I need to do to make text that is hidden by default appear on a printed page?

In 1995 I had a dream where when I awoke all I could remember was that there was amazing music. In 1997 I had a vivid flashback of the dream so I wrote it down.

The dream was a series of test after test after test, and I apparently passed them all. It has helped shape my life since.

My dwarf hampster, [redacted], has gone to the great beyond. Active until her death, she lived a long life. Always a choosy eater, she favored sunflower seeds over the bulk of her prepackaged diet; [redacted] would often climb the side of her cage to earn a treat. I regret not having allowed her to run around the couch more often than I did, though she did enjoy a night of free living the time she escaped. I still remember when she bit my thumb. [redacted] passed in her favorite corner next to her water bottle.

At around 12 years old, my cat [redacted] didn't really show her age: she would still get a thrill out of playing with milk jug rings and twist ties. And she did love her catnip. [redacted]'s namesake comes from my friend's daughter who noticed how she would raise her haunches when petted. Luckily [redacted] was an indoor cat, as calling for her to come home would've definately been embarrassing. ...
