How to invest $250,000 today?
My parents just liquidated part of their estate to all the children. I've not had to consider such a large lump sum previously and I'm a little hesitant as to what to do with it. It was actually in a trust prior to the disbursement and my parents told me not to worry about retirement. With the uncertain economic environment and upcoming election they felt it best to go ahead and disburse the funds.
1). I'm not a stock market player. I HATE aggressive investing. I realize that's counter productive; however, it's the way I feel so please take it into consideration.
2). Both my wife an I have a 401k of nominal value due to job changes. Since my parents told us not to worry about retirement we didn't. We are 46 and 47.
3). I like gold and made a decent return when I bought at 400.00, but feel it's too expensive for a large investment at the present time. Thoughts?
4). I'm not a big fan of real estate thought it does appear the market has pretty much hit bottom.
We have some nominal credit card debt and a car loan that we will pay off first. We'll also be able to save a pretty good sum per month since we'll be debt free (other than mortgage). Probably about $3,650.00 or so.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
10 AnswersInvesting9 years agoDo any of the higher end Steakhouse restaurants allow casual dress?
Obviously whatever you wear should be clean and presentable in public. I guess I'm wondering about any that might allow denim (regular or colored). You know...non-dressy type clothing. I'm fine with no shorts, sneakers, or tank tops, etc.
2 AnswersLas Vegas1 decade agoIs it possible for a cable LINE or the digital cable box to cause bad color on a TV?
I ask because when I play a DVD or Wii the color is fine so I suspect the TV is okay, but I've never heard of a cable line/wire or the actual cable box to be the cause of color issues. I've already changed out the input/output sources for the box so that hook-up appears to be okay. Just wanted to be sure before I go switching boxes and cables across the house.

I've had to get my 2005 Mustang jumped at least four times in 1.5 years. A couple of guys have told me that it should started regulary (how often?) because it has so much electronic components. So I can't let it sit for more than a week without it going COMPLETELY dead. Been to the dealership twice and they can find nothing wrong. Thoughts?
