When I was a kid, "Your mamma wears army boots" was one of the biggest playground insults. But now, women seem to be accepted in many militaries (especially in the UK).

Would you take that phrase as an insult, or as a compliment? And why?

Was there ever a time when people wouldn't confess? In all the movies I see of World War II, people suffer terrible torture and just die.

Is this just based on a few heroic incidents, or perhaps Hollywood fantasy, or was there a time of extreme bravery?

And the books, did they exaggerate? Or have troops always been ordinary people?

I try to remember the Alamo, but it seems these days the rules of "soldiers" is to confess on tv in order to be let go.

Do you think we live in a cowardly society? Or is the Alamo, 700, and all that just special episodes of bravery that were always unusual?

College, military service, and other big life changes often trigger mental illness.

We normally say for physical illness that prevention is more effective than cure.

If we can detect mental illness early, before college, then perhaps we can prevent it, or control it more easily.

Do you think we should test all high school students, before they go out into the real world? Could this be done like why give children vaccinations?

Also, if you can say what your degree was in... and if you think that mattered.

It feels weird to call a woman a jerk. Yet, there are women who are jerks. This other word comes to mind, but it's considered a swear word.

If I you were to describe a female jerk to a group of people who would be offended by swearing, what word would you use? (for instance, a nasty character in a children's book that had no magical powers)
