  • Eerily similar or way off base, what do you think ?

This is a quote by Alexander Tyler, its one that I feel depicts the past and possible future of our country. Are we at number 7 and what are your thoughts as to the eerie similarities between the Athenian Republic and the US today.

  • Was George W. wrong?

I see a lot of similar comments about George Bush demonstrating contempt for the constitution, but In 1796, Washington refused the House of Representatives demand for papers related to the Jay Treaty with Great Britain, saying that " The Constitution barred the House from the making of treaties. Firing U.S. attorneys and any other executive officers, including those requiring Senate approval, rests beyond the constitutional powers of Congress, and totally within those of the presidency." This has been true since the first cabinet departments were established in 1789.The Supreme Court held in 1959 that, "Since Congress may only investigate into those areas in which it may potentially legislate or appropriate, it cannot inquire into matters which are within the exclusive province of one or the other branches of the Government." If the Democrats argument is right then George Washington is wrong about executive privilege.. Right??

Honest opinions please not scathing remarks...Thanks

  • Are Democratic leaders supporting radical Islam?

Imam Husham Al-Husainy was invited to give the opening prayer at the Democrat National Committee winter meeting in Williamsburg. The Democrats bowed their heads, said ameen and then applauded his anti-American opening prayer.A few things about him,he organized 3000 Hezbullah supporters who marched carrying anti-Jew signs and signs equating Americans and Jews to Nazis. During one of his speeches he called Jews and Americans “diseased". He was a leader of several 2004 anti-American rallies in support of Iraqi insurgents as well as past rallies in support of Hamas and Yassir Arafat. al-Husainy has voiced direct and open support of Iraq militant Moqtada al-Sadr, and Iranian anti-American cleric Khomeini. In an interview he said "American soldiers in Iraq were “running away or committing suicide or getting psychological treatment.”

Democrats are pushing hard to stop the troop increase-who are they protecting, where's the media outrage??

  • Is Bushs new plan for Iraq making things uncomfortable for Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad?

In an opinion piece in the Los Angeles Times, Dariush Zahedi, who teaches in the departments of political economy and peace and conflict studies at the University of California-Berkeley, and Omid Memarian, an award-winning Iranian journalist, write: "The Bush administration's decision to step up pressure against Iran by going after Iranian agents inside Iraq, coupled with the Islamic Republic's increasing economic and diplomatic isolation, have pushed conservatives inside Iran to further distance themselves from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad."

50 members of the Iranian parliament have signed a letter calling on Ahmadinejad to appear before the parliament to explain his actions, and Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has reportedly given parliament the right to criticize Ahmadinejad’s performance.Which means Parliament can impeach Ahmadinejad, or the supreme leader can remove him.

  • Since Al Sabah(an iraqi newspaper)reported an al Qaida withdrawl,is Bushs plan working ?

al Sabah reported : Abu Ayyub al Masri, the head of al Qaida in Iraq, has ordered a withdrawal to Diyala province, north and east of Baghdad. Mr. al Masri's evacuation order said that remaining in Baghdad is a no-win situation for al Qaida, because the Fallujah campaign is demonstrating the Americans have learned how to prevail in house to house fighting.

  • Why are the Democrats fighting real ethic reform?

After Democrats public grandstand of needing true ethics reform why are they fighting an amendment by Sen. Judd Gregg, New Hampshire Republican, that would authorize the president to remove earmarks (provisions in a bill to fund specific pet projects of members of Congress in their home districts or states)Republicans wanted to vote on their amendment as part of the ethics bill, but Sen. Robert C. Byrd, West Virginia Democrat, had been single-handedly blocking the deal...When Republicans didn't get the amendment vote they wanted, they retaliated by voting against a parliamentary procedure needed to pass the overall ethics bill, effectively blocking Harry Reid's first order of business...

  • Will the media and Democrats question Pelosi minimum wage double standard?

American Samoa is being exempted from the minimum wage increase.Making it the only U.S. territory not subject to federal minimum-wage laws. Nearly 75 percent of the island's work force is employeed by StarKist Tuna. The average wage for tuna workers in American Samoa is $3.60 an hour. Starkist Tuna is headquartered in San Francisco...Nancy Pelosi home town. The Democrats argued Americans can't raise a family on $5.15 an hour and the minimum wage must be raised to $7.25 an hour. Did a generous campaign contribution to one Mrs. Pelosi save a company hundreds of thousands in employee wages... Hm mm.. Where is the media on this one?

  • Is part of the Democratic plan to revoke our tax cuts?

"Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you. We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you."We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good," the former first lady Hillary Clinton admitted.
