Is Bushs new plan for Iraq making things uncomfortable for Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad?

In an opinion piece in the Los Angeles Times, Dariush Zahedi, who teaches in the departments of political economy and peace and conflict studies at the University of California-Berkeley, and Omid Memarian, an award-winning Iranian journalist, write: "The Bush administration's decision to step up pressure against Iran by going after Iranian agents inside Iraq, coupled with the Islamic Republic's increasing economic and diplomatic isolation, have pushed conservatives inside Iran to further distance themselves from President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad."

50 members of the Iranian parliament have signed a letter calling on Ahmadinejad to appear before the parliament to explain his actions, and Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has reportedly given parliament the right to criticize Ahmadinejad’s performance.Which means Parliament can impeach Ahmadinejad, or the supreme leader can remove him.

Not too many Iranians like Mahmoud. He used to have support, but since his highly critical US actions, he has lost support. People in Iran don't all hate America, and don't agree with what he says.

Mahmoud is getting a little nervous with more troops in Iraq, and more battleships in the Gulf.

it has all been political posturing between bush and ahmadinejad. the strange thing is hardline conservatives put ahmadinejad in power after the bush axis of evil speech. he has no real power and the media just sensationalizes and misinterpets what he says to sell papers. he won't be re-elected and at some point the US will have to talk with, not at,iran. in the meantime we can only hope the US or israel doesn't attack iran,it would be a stupid move and would cause more harm than good in the region. look at lebanon,a democracy headed in a positive direction, derailed by the acts of hezbollah and israel. neither were innocent.

Abso-friggin-lutely !! Not many people caught that in the President's last speech . I was surprised at that too !! But I stop short of believing ANYTHING Radical Islamists say !!!! Iran's parliament may be only stalling for time and bluffing for propaganda purposes .

ACTIONS speak louder than words !!!!

sure it is. when the supreme leader lets his own news paper criticize president tom it is getting bad for him. it makes me wonder how such people-kim jung il, hugo chavez, pres tom and others manage to stay in power.iran will be back at the table. i am sure that no one cares who has nuclear energy but these guys had a clandestine operation for about twenty years and now they want to be trusted. what a joke.

You know as well as I know that Iran's president is a good guy and Iran does not deserve to be attacked by the Nazis that run the US government. You just post this crap up here because you are a paid fake blogger. Admit it. Also how can you live with yourself for doing it?
