Ultra-Orthodox Christian (Christotheism = belief in the absolute divinity of Christ)

  • Is dual Transgender Marriage legal in the UK?

Under existing UK law can a male to female transexual marry a female to male transexual?

  • Why are there no Christian Churches that teach the absolute divinity of Christ?

Every denomination, mainline or fringe, qualifies or compromises the divinity of Christ in some way. Either by adding him to a trinity, by making him subservient to the Father, or by adding a human nature to his divine nature. Is Christianity now completely apostate?

  • Can you draw energy from the Earths magnetic field?

I've just seen an advert for a generator from a company that makes this claim. I'm no scientist so I haven't got a clue if its even possible. I know perpetual motion is impossible and it sounds like that. We can draw energy from wind and waves so why not the magnetic field. If we can how would it work?

  • Christians would you choose Christ or Jesus?

Leaving aside the mainstream view of Pauline Christianity and it's Bible.

There are Jews that accept Jesus, Yeshua, as the son of God and Messiah but reject the incarnation, divinity and atonement of Jesus, they are called Netzarim, or Nazarenes.

There were also people called Christians before Jesus, they worshipped the God 'Serapis-Christos' who died, rose again and offered salvation.

It's a purely hypothetical question with no underlying rhetoric implied, so please don't be offended.

If there was no Christianity or Bible, would you choose a Christ that saves or a Jesus that doesn't?

  • Is Evolution possible without common ancestors?

Suppose we never find common ancestors and are unable to observe the evolution of new species, is it possible that evolution could still occur?

This would require each species to have it's own distinct line of evolution going through its initial embryonic stage to fully developed mature stage.

  • Is Plato's God the God of Western Civilisation?

Plato believed and taught that God created the universe. He called God the Creator, King and Father of all. Plato wrote long before the earliest books of the Hebrew Torah achived ther final written form.

Later Christians and Muslims used a great deal of Plato's philosophy in their theology, ensuring the his understanding of God was preserved for future generations.

Niether Christian nor Islam has a monopoly on the idea or belief in God as the supreme being.

Is it reasonable to say that the idea and belief in God in Western Civilisation derives ultimately from Plato?

  • Should we have an 'Act of Unification' for the UK?

The Acts of Union established the unions of England and Wales, England & Wales with Scotland and Britain with Ireland, the result was one country the UK. No official recognition was given to the constituent entities. In fact even though we often refer to England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland as countries, they are not as far as the Acts are concerned. The only reference to parts of the UK in the Acts is to North Britain (Scotland) and South Britain (England & Wales).

Should formal recognition be given to these entities as constituent parts of the sovereign state, that is the UK?

The conventional term for a territorial unit within a state is 'province'. Recognising England, Wales, Scotland and N Ireland as provinces of the UK formalises the union of those units with the sovereign state and constitutes official unification.

  • Why don't creationists believe God created using pre-existing material?

In Genesis God creates the world using pre-existing matter.

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”.

St Augustine confirms this interpretation in his book 'The Literal interpretation of Genesis'.

Why then do Creationists who claim to believe in the literal interpretation of Genesis not also believe that God created the universe out of pre-existing material just like Genesis says?

  • Is this proof that God does not exist?

Or proof that God is beyond existence?

Melbourne philosopher Douglas Gasking (1911–1994) offers this proof of the nonexistence of God:

    1. The creation of the world is the most marvelous achievement imaginable.

    2. The merit of an achievement is the product of (a) its intrinsic quality, and (b) the ability of its creator.

    3. The greater the disability (or handicap) of the creator, the more impressive the achievement.

    4. The most formidable handicap for a creator would be non-existence.

    5. Therefore if we suppose that the universe is the product of an existent creator we can conceive a greater being — namely, one who created everything while not existing.

    6. Therefore, God does not exist.

It seems proof of Gods non-existence still relies on God being real?

  • Does the Cosmological Argument imply Creatio Ex Nihilo?

Plato & Aristotle both formulated Cosmological arguments. It's often said that Plato's Demiurge created using pre-existing matter but is the Demiurge in the Timeaus just a literary tool rather than a literal belief?

To me the first cause is also the cause or existence and matter not just motion. The full doctrine of Creatio Ex Nihilo didn't emerge until much later so can Plato & Aristotles Cosmological arguments be seen to imply creatio ex nihilo?
