  • Road King care and feeding...?

Just bought me a 2001 Road King. I saw a couple of guys this evening in the Wally Martin parking lot oogling it, so I know I got a great deal. Anyway, I need to know oil type, tire pressures, shock pressures, and gas octane for this sled.

    FYI: it's PUR-PUL!!!

What was the name of a 1950s TV series...?

...that was a cop story set in San Francisco. I remember it always began with credits over footage of the cop and his partner driving up a hill in a dark 1952 Ford and turning camera right. Their office had an arch window, as though the building had arch-topped column windows and they were on a high floor.

It was NOT Dragnet or The Untouchables, nor was it The Streets of San Francisco. Dragnet was always set in LA, the Untouchables in 1920s Chicago, and Streets was made in the 1960s. This is much more obscure than that. The last time I saw an episode was in syndication in 1964.

  • Where is this island in Mexico?

I'm watching some "I Spy" reruns, and some episodes were set on this island in the middle of a lake with a statue of a figure at the top of the hill with one arm pointing straight up, like a power salute. The lake is surrounded by mountains, and there are fishermen fishing from boats with these big (six foot or more diameter) butterfly nets. The island is big enough to have a little town on it.

Do you know the name of the town and the lake?

  • Is there a name for this kind of costume element?

The kind that flare out over the shoulders like this: http://beta.abc.go.com/shows/once-upon-a-time/bios... You see them often in science-fiction movie costuming. Is there a specific name for them?

  • What's a good software package for recording music?

I want to be able to plug a microphone into my laptop and record a voice track, then have it play back through my headphones while I play instruments with it until I have a whole orchestra and chorus going. It has to run on Windows 7 - 64 bit, and not cost a bazillion bux.

  • What kind of software for rendering architectural scenes?

I want to be able to draw floorplans and elevations, then have them "come alive." What is a good package that will run on Windows 7 - 64 bit, and not cost a bazillion bux?

  • I want to bust my gut...?

I have a back injury, and cannot lie flat on the floor or an exercise bench, but I want to do situps because I'm getting a spare tire. On the other hand, I can do situps in bed, but my wife objects to being awakened in the middle of the night when I either come to bed or get up to go to work. Are there any other gut-busting exercise I can substitute?

  • I've got Windows 7 Home Premium...?

...and it suddenly went wonk on me. This laptop was working fine, then all of a sudden it takes 20 minutes to boot, the jpgs don't thumbnail when I open a folder. Would upgrading to Professional do a complete OS overwrite and fix this?

I've already run several spywares and a defrag.

Do teams maintain a staff of scouts at each and every game of all the other teams? How about the opposite league? Are there freelance scouts?

  • How does one get around the "Need Administrator Permission..."?

...bee ess when I go to delete old files and folders? I'm the only user on this computer, so I AM the "administrator." Why does it get switched on in the first place? I now have several empty folders on my desktop where I've individually cleaned out the contents, but this stupid Windows 7 still insists that I need administrator permission to delete them, or that access is denied.

  • Who was the "Oh, I'm with YOU!" guy?

He looked like a stoned-out hippie version of Buster Keaton, and was in the party scene of "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls," and was a regular on "The Wacky World of Jonathan Winters" TV show back in the Sixties.

  • I've picked up a pop-up. Is there a way to isolate the files that are causing it and delete them?

I know, it was stupid to think "free music" would really be free, but I think it came with a program that contacts an ad agency and gets instructions to open internet windows to different websites trying to sell me stuff. The sad part is that half the time they're trying to sell me stuff I wouldn't buy, even if they were giving it away, like baby formula. I'm 59 years old, I don't need baby formula.

It happened a couple of days ago, is there a way to see what files came in by date? Maybe that would be a clue. How would I know which one is the culprit? I don't want to delete anything that might destroy my data.

  • Can't get MS Word to put shortcut on desktop...?

Was having trouble saving Word docs, so uninstalled/reinstalled Office 2003 Student/Teacher. Now it won't make shortcuts, tried "send to" and "create shortcut" from Start Menu and from inside Program Files folder. Each time it says "can't make shortcut, check to see if disk is full." Any guidance to fix this problem is appreciated.

  • Make a desktop shortcut that will open/eject the CD tray?

A friend once sent me an email offering a "free cup holder" for my PC. When I clicked on the link the CD tray opened. Do you know how this is done, or what command it is? I do a lot of CD burning, and having an icon on the desktop that just opened the drawer would be convenient. Thanks

  • How does one calculate the orbit of a comet, given the observed coordinates of RA and dec?

If I saw a comet, and plotted it's position over what, several nights? An hour or two? How do I derive the orbit? Is this information given in the Principia? Is there another book, or a version with language not so arcane?

  • How do we know the exact value for the wavelength of hydrogen emission?

I read in Burnham's that it was something like 6960 angstroms, (I'm guessing at the value, I don't have the book in front of me). What is the process that yielded this figure?
