  • Taxes: Married, filing separate, w/house?

So, my husband and I normally have our taxes prepared for us due to my small business. Last year I decided to scrap my business plan, and therefore we are doing our own taxes this year.

    My question is a two-parter.

#1 - Why would we get a much larger return filing separate than filing jointly? Filing separate comes out to more than triple what filing jointly would return...

#2 - We purchased a home last year (already got the home buyers credit with last years taxes) - do we both enter the mortgage interest and tax information? Or would only one of us?

  • D-Link Wireless Router issues?

I'm trying to help my parents set up their wireless network and am stumped.

When I connect their computer directly into their Clearwire modem, no problems. I connect it through the router, it suddenly has issues getting an ip address. I had this problem with my own connection when I started, but by clicking the repair button it always fixed itself. This does nothing for my parents connections, and it seems the d-link trouble shooting runs me in circles.

    Any suggestions??

  • Microsoft Access, How do I group data from my table?

I'm learning as I go with this database... ugh.

I have a table that displays statistical data on employees. I have already built the report that I need, which groups/sorts the data by age, but what I need now is to somehow GROUP certain AGES together. Example:

    Data for ages 16-20:

    hired fired stats more stats

    Data for ages 21-25:

    hired fired stats more stats

    etc.

Help! I'm at my wits end for the day...

  • JavaScript and CSS experts! Help!?

Okay I've got a hobby photography site that I am constantly trying to make better. I found this fantastic JavaScript photo gallery code that is controlled mainly by CSS - I write my own HTML but CSS and Java are Greek to me.

What I really need is to make it so my photo thumbnails aren't distorted. I have dug in and figured out how to change the overall size and dimension of the thumbnail image (I currently made them completely square, 100x100), but I need to independantly size them or something so that the verticals and horizontals can both keep their correct aspect ratios.

Here is a link to the page with the CSS and images: http://burningtreephotos.com/Photos/wedding/pages/...

    And the JavaScript: http://burningtreephotos.com/Photos/wedding/pages/...

I REALLY love this layout and want to use it, but if I can only have verticals with skewed horizontals, horizontals with skewed verticals, or all skewed square, I just wont be able to.. *sigh*

  • Disable Windows pop up save function?

Okay, I maintain my own photography website and have already entered the javascript code to prevent anyone from right-clicking to save my images.

I know that there are dozens of ways for people to "steal" my images, I'm just trying to make it as difficult as possible :)

I recently realized that if you hold your mouse over an image, a windows function will pop up asking if you'd like to save, print or email the image.

Does anyone know of a way to disable this feature via java/html/other code????

  • How do I disable the graphics card on the motherboard?

Okay, the husband just got a refurbished computer from Fry's. I bought a ATI Radeon 1600 graphics card to go with it, but when we install the graphics card the monitor will not turn on. I believe that if we disable the onboard graphics card, it will work but I don't want to risk screwing something up. HELP!!

  • Installing Windows XP over ME?

My husband just got a pre-owned computer that came with Windows ME (shudder). I have my own Windows XP CD that I wanted to install on the computer instead of ME, but I'm drawing a blank.

I haven't done this in about 5 years, and I think I screwed up. I booted the computer from the CD and asked it to install, and at the very end it said it would likely have errors because ME was still on the computer - it never did give me the option to remove ME or format the harddrive...

So, in my ignorance I booted the computer normally and put the XP CD in and told it once again to install, but it again came back with an error, because not only does it now have ME, but an incomplete version of XP! Argh...

I know there is a way to run the format command, but the start menu doesn't have a run... command option.

HELP! Before I use it as a boat anchor...

  • marraige license questions?

My boyfriend and I are going on vacation to Hawaii. We reside in Oregon and have decided that this will be the perfect opportunity to elope. We were planning on having a friend who is an ordained minister marry us and we have 2 witnessess, but I'm a bit stumped.

If we were to get married in Hawaii, can we only get a Hawaiian marraige license? Or can we apply for an Oregon license and perform the actual marraige in Hawaii? Any good links guys??

    Thanks!

  • Opinions on my photography?

I am having a "sale" of some of my photographic work (trying to raise a little spending money as well as awareness of my existance as a local small-time photographer) - I'd really like to get some CONSTRUCTIVE feedback on not only my photographs, but my presentation of the sale.

I am not a professional and don't ever claim to be one, just a hobbiest with a love for the beauty we can potentially freeze in time.

My main website needs a lot of work, but I put alot of time into creating my "sale flyer" site www.burningtreephotos.com/sale.html. What do you think?

  • Should I get checked for Diabetes, or should I wait??

I've felt crummy for the past 8 years or so. I'm 23 and in the last year have gained about 40 lbs - no change in diet or routine. I'm always tired-sometimes downright exhousted, always feel slightly nauseated, thirsty, lately I've had to pee alot more than I used to, I get flash headaches (gone within 30 seconds) and have heartburn about every other day, to a point I have to pop a couple tums which is losing its effect. My dad is a type II diabetic controlled by pills.

I've gone to the doctore several times because of the way I feel thinking maybe I have mono or something and they always just tell me to take vitamins and excercise. I'm exercising at least every other day now but no change yet.

Should I wait a few more months and see if I begin to feel better?

I feel stupid asking this on Yahoo! Answers but my parents think I'm a hypocondriac (from always trying to figure out why I feel like crap) and I hate going to the doctor...

    Ugh, help??

  • What are your thoughts on the Eden Pure Quartz Infrared Heater?

    http://www.edenpureheater.com/index.php

It's an expensive space heater ($300-400), but it sounds like just what I need. I don't want to get hosed on this!

I have cats and Sugar Gliders in a drafty house in the middle of the high desert where it gets very cold. The Sugar Gliders need a constant temperature of about 70 degrees or so. Gas heat is way too expensive. The house has base board heating built in underneath DRAFTY windows which has prooved inaffective, and we have furniture up against them anyways. I have a space heater working full time right now, which seems okay for now, but the cats are bound to knock it over and the last thing I need is a fire! Arg!

If you haven't heard of that Eden Pure heater, what other alternatives can you guys suggest?

  • Yet another Microsoft Access question - network issue maybe?

So close yet so far. I have my database completed and is located on a shared network drive. I can access it just fine, but if any of my coworkers try and open it, it says it is currently in use and read only, then to top it off, the form is blank. They can view the form in Design mode, but can't actually use it. I didn't set any security parameters, and I've been in and out of dozens of books. Why on earth is it not letting anyone else on the network use it?

  • Microsoft Access form - I need it to go to a blank record!?

I have a form within a database I just created. I have the form writing to a table to save the data.

How do I make the form go to a blank record once I hit the "save record" button? This action writes the info to the table, but stays on that record.

Also, how do I make the form open on a blank record, rather than the first record in the table?

I haven't even begun to delve into macros, which is what this is sounding like it's leaning towards. Any help is appreciated.

  • Microsoft Access Form creation?

I need to create a form in Microsoft access. The books that I have are showing me how to create a form, but it's not working for what I need. I basically need to be able to have a form where I can type in a persons name, and the form will recognize this as a record from a current table. I then need to add data to this name (hours on the phone) and have the form write this to a separate table to store the combined info for pulling reports later on. Does this make sense?? Anyone have a few clear steps to take in this direction, or know of a freebie website to help?

    Thanks!!
