4 AnswersOther - Electronics1 decade agoWhen a stock splits, why doesnt the price drop on charts?
I've noticed that when many stocks split, their prices don't drop on charts as you'd expect them to. Do the numbers people fudge with the y-axis on the graph so people dont overreact when they see a 50% drop on a chart? If yes, how do they do this?
Just curious....

1 AnswerInvesting2 decades agoNew to investing online. How do I choose a broker?
I am new to all this. Where can I learn the basics?
How do I find a cheap, easy to use broker? There are SO MANY - how do I chose? The ones I've heard about include Ameritrade, eTrade, Sharebuilder, TDWaterhouse, ScotTrade, Fidelity, the list goes on! What makes them all different?
What I know: I'd like do invest relatively conservatively (IE - no day-trading). I'd like to invest in ethanol. I'd like to invest for down the line...

4 AnswersBooks & Authors2 decades agoHave you read Stephen Wolfram's "A New Kind of Science?"?
What do you think about it?
I bought the tome awhile ago because I was very interested and intrigued by it. But I just havent had any time to get through it! Too busy with med school, etc etc....
If I understand correctly, Wolfram derived ingenius equations predicting many of the naturally occuring events that we see around us in nature. It sounds like a blend of mathematics, chaos theory, and universal theory! I'm intrigued...
If you've read it, Id love to hear what you think about it.
PS - I know I know, I REALLY DO intend to find time to read it! :)

1. Toronto - ?
2. Chicago - ?
3. Charlotte - ?
BTW can you believe the Bulls have the #2 & #16 picks after nearly bumping Miami in the first round? PLUS they'll probably get the Knicks' lottery pick next year also. All that for Eddy Curry. Yikes.

Einstein has SO many profound quotations. Two of my favs are...
"The important thing is not to stop questioning.
Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity."
"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. "

Personally I was pretty dissapointed. The thing is, I really couldnt tell you one reason why. It just kinda struck me as bland. I liked the casting, but i think Ron Howard failed to catch the allure of the book... what was it about the movie that stunk??
