I'm 26 from the Milwaukee, WI area. I got married on 2/1/06 and we have 2 beautiful children-a gray torbbie (tortoiseshell/tabby) kitten named Mycella (born apx 2/1/06) and a tortoiseshell kitten named Meira (born apx 1/15/06). I love helping people out as much as I can...

  • Variation of Benjamin Ficus?

I'm trying to determine what kind of plant I have. It's about 12 years old. The leaves appear to be dead ringers for the Benjamin Ficus, however the bark is not smooth. It is a rougher light tan with lighter tan ribbings (for lack of a better word) on it... It also has little bumps poking out from it. I've been on tons of websites and can't find a plant with the leaf/bark combination... This is actually my boss's plant and I'm hoping to give it back to him when he moves, so I'm trying to find accurate care tips for it...

  • Acrylic Paint and Pottery Uses?

I painted a terra cotta small plant pot and painted the inside (all but the very bottom). I used acrylic paint. I'm figuring I can't use it for holding a tealight candle anymore, and I read I can't use it to put a plant in because of it being acrylic paint. Anyone have any ideas of what I can use this dumb pot for now? I'm stumped.

  • Houseplants or Trees and Rust?

I thought I heard somewhere that rust was good for trees? Like it helps them grow if you bury nails next to the tree...gives it special nutrients?

Anyways...this is more of a houseplant...I THINK it is a Benjamin Ficus (based off of trying to use the internet to help identify). It's my boss's plant and he is kind of superstitious about it (when it was given to him, the person said that if the plant dies, the business will die...that was like 13 years ago and it's still kickin'). I put some paperclips under it because it said to put pebbles in the tray under it so that it doesn't sit in the water, but rather so that it gets more humidity...and we don't have any pebbles around here. He's gone til the end of the month and I just want him to come back and the plant has really grown...

Does rust help plants grow? Will the paperclips work?

Also-while I'm here...does anyone know a good "around the home" fertilizer? I don't want to have to buy anything...

    Thank you!!

  • Crafting Businesses?

Does anyone know of any reputable businesses that will pay you to do a craft? Preferably, non-sewing. I thought there were some that you could do where you pay a small start-up fee, and then they pay you based off of the number of products you do. I love doing crafts, and if I can get paid for it, even if it's not a HUGE amount, but just some little "mad money," it would make it even better! Also...key phrase...no sewing! O:-) Yes...I am a 26 year old female that can't sew...married to a 24 year old man that can! LOL

Thanks for all of your help!!

  • What to do with crafts after done?

I love doing crafts, and want to get back heavily into doing projects. I just love the calmness that it brings to my life. However, I will be the first to admit that I'm far from professional-looking. Some people might be ok with them as presents, but I don't think I could get away with it to everyone. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do with them after I'm done? I like doing ceramics, painting pottery (which I thought of painting and putting an herb in it as a present), painting wood things (like jewelry boxes that you get at Michaels, etc), suncatchers, bead work... I'm just afraid my husband is going to say "And what are you going to do with that when you are done?!" ...and I won't have an answer for him! Help!

  • Offset Shaving Consequences?

I have shaved like by my belly area, on my face, and my chest area (I feel like a man...it's so embarrassing!!) and am seriously regretting it since it comes back so dark. Would bleaching it help to come in lighter? Or am I destined to either have to wax it or have it laserly-removed?

  • Sleep Disorder?

I'm curious if any of you might know what could be wrong with me? Have any of you experienced this?

I just got married 6 months ago...we didn't live together before, but we spent weekends together. Apparently, since the beginning, I am occassionally abusive to him when I'm asleep... kicking, hitting, shoving, and even went as far as pushing him off the bed the other day (although, I still think the kittens had help with that!). I have no idea what I'm doing because I'm out cold.

We have a queen size bed. We know we need/want a king size, but don't have the money right now.

Also...he tends to try to cuddle with me a lot...which can be nice, but he tries it all the time...not sure if it's just getting to me on nights when I need my space.

Finally...we are both under a TON of stress...

Could this be signs of a sleep disorder? How do I get over it? What has worked for you?

    Serious answers only, please.

  • Asking for a lower credit card rate?

I have a credit card with a very high balance on it. But, I've been paying on it to bring it down...since we got married on 2/1 & my husband was out of work, it was just the minimum balance, but it was still getting paid.

I have a credit score of over 700.

About 2 months ago, I called up the credit card company & asked for them to lower the rate. Said I had an offer from a competing company & I would transfer if I couldn't get it. They said "No."

I got the other account & transferred a few hundred (which really didn't make a dent on #1). I also ended up taking money out of my 401K (I'm only 26, so there is plenty of time to build it up) & paid half of it off. There is still a high balance though. I only use it for a reoccurring charge that will be done with this month.

Would it make sense for me to try calling them again now to see if I can get the rate reduced? Now that they saw so much get paid off, they know I mean business? Or should I wait til next year & try again?

  • Husband's in a funk... How do I get him out?

We just got married on 2/1. He moved to WI from IL, so subsequantly, quit his job. It took him 2 months to find a job-which was at a small engine shop...not computers like he is most interested in (and very good at). He was there from 4/17-6/30... He got let go because the work load slowed down dramatically. I have been working full time this whole time.

We are moving on 8/1 & the apartment is SO far from being ready to go. He claims it's because it's "my stuff"...although he could very well pack various areas up that may not be my personal stuff (he moved in with me when we got married, so the furniture, etc. was previously mine). He has packed 2 boxes.

He keeps saying that he'll clean up around here...the kitchen is almost unusable, and the steak he pulled out yesterday is still on the counter (because we ended up going to my mom's last night to do laundry and ate there).

What can I do to get him out of a lazy funk? ANY advice will be great! He wasn't like this before...

  • Women need more friends?

Curious about if you think that women need more friends than men. I know that everyone needs friends, but sometimes I think that women look to their friends more than men do. I bring this up because my best friend and I are on the outs (just life heading in separate directions I guess), and my husband is struggling to understand why I need a female friend so bad. I think he takes it like a cut on him...that he's not my friend... But I can't very well gossip about him TO him!! LOL I am not clear on if he feels the same way I do (needing to have a friend this bad) as he tends to skirt around questions. Guys-Do you think that females tend to look for friends/friendship more than you? Gals-Do you feel the same as me that you really need a gal-friend and that the guys don't seem to "need" it as badly?

  • Tortoiseshell kitten changing colors?!?

We have a 6-7 month old kitten and she is a tortoiseshell. When we got her, she had more black fur (to the point where people didn't want to adopt her because she was "too black")... Now, my husband and I are seeing more lighter hair coming in. Is this common for this cat species? We have another kitten that has minor tortoiseshell traits (the red/wine color), and more red seems to be showing up as an under color... Serious posts only.
