Long story short battery went bad so I jumped it wit my car battery turned on just fine now when I disconnected it turned back off!? I thought battery was just for the starter like any other lawn equipment. So my question is why does it need a good battery to continue running?

I'm asking this in reference to tenants I have had. Here's an example: A single mother with one child applying for college that attends school for a month, receives the check from the government in the sums of 3-4,000 dollars, cashes the checks then drops out of school a few weeks later. This has happened to me numerous times. Then the money is spent on drugs and then refuses to pay the rent. What is the government doing to curb the fraud?

my transmission went out on my truck about a year and a half ago long story short i bought a new one from the auto parts (chevy 350 turbo) installed it and within a year now this one is slipping too! Im left with just reverse. I dnt run it hard , no heavy loads, not even my daily driver. now how can a brand new transmission already go out? any clues on what i can do to troubleshoot this. it may still be good?
