Nowhere Man

At the end of last semester, my school had a "give and take" tent. Someone left a functional Mac desktop. The only problem is that I do not have the password to log in. Is there anywhere I can erase the hard drive or "start over"?

I'm curious as to how the Democratic Party and Republican Party became associated with liberal politics and conservative politics, respectively. I've read about how the opposite used to be true. I've never really found an explanation about this.

But I can't think of its name. It's probably from the early or mid 90's. It's about these boys who are sexually abused and assaulted by guards in this youth prison-esque place. The boys decide to get revenge.

It's from 2008, I think. This couple stays in a remote house. They're tormented by people in masks. I can't, for the life of me, think of the name of this movie.

Let me explain myself. The guy wants to know how he can tell his girlfriend's bra size. A female walks up to him and tells him he should ask someone. He texts KGB, whose advice is to compare them to a piece of fruit. The guy exclaims, "They're melons!" The girl responds, "I have those."

My problem: The ending implies this girl is his girlfriend. The beginning implies she is an employee trying to help him (and is not his girlfriend).

Am I the only one who has noticed this? Perhaps I'm misinterpreting something.

... And yes, I know, I'm paying too much attention to a simple commercial.

A few weeks ago, my uncle gave me a couple of CDs which had all of the newly remastered albums of The Beatles'. These discs were able to play in a regular CD player. I would like to do this, albeit with other albums. I tried dragging folders containing albums onto a disc and then burning it, but I cannot get them to play on a CD player.

This problem began a couple of days ago. I was transferring files from my internal hard drive to the external hard drive. About halfway through the transfer, the drive spontaneously ejected. A screen appeared, informing me that "I did not have permission." I had this problem once before, although my laptop was able to recognize the drive again. This time, however, my drive will not mount. It does appear in Disk Utility, although I am unable to mount the drive. I am also unable to (properly) eject the drive. I attempted to repair the drive. After a few minutes, I was informed that the repair could not take place ("invalid sibling link"). What can I do so my hard drive will mount?

I'm not entirely convinced that this is a direct problem with Yahoo! Messenger. I've entered chat rooms directly through my internet browser (Safari), and Safari has crashed as well.

If anyone has any tips or suggestions as to how I can fix this, I would appreciate the advice.

I'm curious, for the purposes of having the correct ID tags on iTunes. Is the title simply Plastic Ono Band or John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band? I can understand the latter being used to differentiate the album from Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band. Wikipedia has it listed as JL/POB, but it seems redundant to me, to have the artist listed as John Lennon and the album as JL/POB. So, what's the official title?

After receiving some criticism over the loss of features on iMovie '08, Apple put iMovie 6 up for download on their website.

On Apple's website, I cannot find a place to download iMovie 6 without being directed to view features of iMovie '09.

I have a little story for you. We have a Christian, whom we will call Bob. Bob believes that he has personal conversations with God. One day, Bob hears God talking to him. "Bob," God says, "I want you to take your hunting rifle and park outside of a shopping mall. Next, I want you to shoot people as they exit the mall. I will tell you which people to shoot." Bob is disturbed by this conversation. "God is a loving god. He would NEVER ask me to do something," Bob thinks to himself. "It must have just been a bad dream."

A few days later, Bob hears God talking to him again. "Bob, I have a small task for you. I want you to establish a charity for poor children." Realizing what a commendable action this would be, Bob immediately decides that he will follow God's directions.

What is the purpose of this story, you ask? I believe that most people have a natural, inborn morality. Bob's morality kicked in, and God's plan for Bob to shoot people was quickly rationalized as a delusion or bad dream. Deep down, Bob knew murder was wrong.

So, back to the original question: Do you believe that people can behave morally without belief in a god or gods?

I've seen the phrase used frequently on Yahoo! Answers in the R&S section. As an atheist, I don't inherently support the "-ist" ending to "evolutionist."

It is interesting to note, however, that Richard Dawkins uses the term in many of his works (I first began noticing this in "The Ancestor's Tale").

Alas, the question itself: What are your thoughts on the term.
