  • Could someone please tell me the name of this tool and what it's purpose is?

Someone gave me this bucket full of loose tools a while back. This was amongst them. I have never really seen anything like this. It has a 1/2" drive socket that moves horizontally as well as swivels completely around. I figure maybe it's for breaking stubborn bolts with a hammer. That is a rubber mallet on the end. Thanks for any info.

  • Metal cutting advise please? Speed, Force, Cooling oil.. Anything!! Thanks in advance!!?

I am cutting canning jar rings to make the opening 2-1/2" from the 2-3/8" it is normally. I am using a late model Craftsman Drill Press with a 2-1/2" Lenox Bi-Metal Hole saw. The metal on these lids is very thin. A little thicker than a soda can. They are stamped steel I believe. So, I really screwed up by setting the speed to 1300rpms from the 620 it was. I also was using a combination of 3in1 Oil with motor oil. Yeah, I clearly don't know what heck I'm doing apparently. I got about 25 cuts and that's it!! There is a YouTube video with this same saw in using got over 400 cuts! The speed was 200rpms.

So, can someone that is knowledgeable in this area please educate me. For example; cooling fluid. Can you make your own with dish soap/water & motor oil? Do I even need it at all? What about speed? My drill press will only go down to 620rpms. Should I use a hand drill instead? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

For what it's worth, I do choose a best Answer. I don't let it go to Voting. Thanks again..

  • Do you still have clipless "moments?" When was your last one, and was it partly someone else's fault?

I'm still adjusting to the whole clipless thing. It's been a little over a month now and I managed to fall again yesterday when stopped. Water bottles rolling around in the street, busy intersection... I felt like the biggest dumbass...lol!! Am I the only one this happens to? It is so embarrassing. I have never fallen off a bike so much in my life...

  • Can I and should I change to a tri crank or change out inner crank for a smaller one?

I just bought this old 91 Trek 1200 off C-List. It has Shimano RX-100 components. The crank is 53/42. The rear is 13-23. With that said.... The hills are real quad killers to say the least. I would prefer a triple crank with a 30 on the lower. In replacing the crankset, I would assume I will need to upgrade the derraileurs and the shifters. I would rather not do all that. I would rather just swap out the inner 42 for a 36, and maybe swap out the rear cassette for a 11-34. What do you think I should do?? What would be the most efficient/cost effective...thanks..

  • Is there any alternative to using sonotubes when supporting a 20x15 exterior deck?

I bought the house knowing I would need to do something with this deck. It is a single story ranch. The deck slopes towards the house. Some of the sonotubes are very slanted and a few have even broken. I saw these big preformed concrete base blocks that appear to just set on the level ground and take a 6x6 post. They look like pyramids with the top missing. Would this be an adequate fix? There is a ton of ledge here and I know I would not get far at all with digging, augering holes for sonotubes. Thanks.

  • Steps invloved in replacing a Utility Pole?

I have a utility pole on my property that is leaning pretty good. It was the original one installed 30 years ago. At some point someone ran a vine up it to obscure it and the roots on that vine are over 4 inches thick in some spots. I need the utility pole next to my house as my house sets down in a small revine and the wires would hit the top of a hill if they didn't come to the utility pole first. Where would I get a utility pole? If I were to get one, who should I call to install it? Can a regular electrician transfer my meter and what not, or would I need to get the Carrier involved? Thanks

  • What are the statute of limitations on Disclosures pertaining to Real estate purchases.?

I bought a single story Pre Manufactured ranch home about 5 years that had been in place for nearly 30 years. The house looked fine. I did everything I was supposed to do in terms of paying a "Professional" Home inspector to inspect the property before signing the papers.

End of 2008 we started noticing a pretty good size crack in the drywall in the living room. Two years prior I noticed a small dip in the overhang on the front sophet overhang in the corner.

This past Dec I had my outside above ground oil tank filled for our heat. Long story short, the tank settled and tipped over causing the line to crack off the bottom and 275gals of Kerosene was released into the ground immediately adjacent to my house.

There is serious talk of moving the house in order to excavate underneath it. My insurance company sent a guy in to get a price to move it. Within maybe a 3 minute time frame he noticed that one of the main supporting walls that supports the main beam that runs the length of the house had been moved about a foot to make the living room larger. I know the seller "remodeled" this house for the purposes of selling it. I am proof positive that he moved that wall. I know this because I actually met and talked to the original owner that had actually had this house placed here prior to selling it to the people that I purchased the home from. He said the living room was a lot bigger and the entry from the living room into the kitchen was almsot double the size.

Basically, I want to try to go after the people that sold me this home and/or the inspector that I paid who said it was structually sound. Comments/Suggestions appreciated.

  • I want to kill every mouse/rat within a 100yard radius of my house. Is this possible?

I have already invested in a dozen bait stations and 40lbs of contrac blox. I caught one the day in my vault with a glue trap. That was the first one I have seen in the house in a few years. I have contractors working around the property and they have a bad habit of removing access panels for under my house and not putting them back on tightly.

So I have a ranch style house on a flat Slab. It is 50x34. I have placed 6 bait stations 2 in the front, 2 in the back and 1 on each side. I have placed 4 around my barn and 2 around my well house. All exterior btw. I have checked them after only a day and 3 of them around my house showed signs of activity. Every one for the barn were sampled and no dice on the well house. They all had slugs in them though.

I want to know what it would take to keep them away for good. Also, what kinds of bait/poisons kill the quickest. The stuff I am using now (contrac blox) I read can take a few weeks to kill the little shits. I was hoping for a few days at most. Suggestions and advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • What is the most effective way to fish a Yamamoto Senco? What Color scheme?

I want to know what colors you use and why, how you fish them(fast or slow), It seems like they all work with almost no sort of consistency as far as color or size. I want to know what single color scheme will work the best for most all varying conditions. I am still interested in reading your own advice and expierences though. I live in the northeast and most of the ponds I fish are very clean and clear and no more than 10' deep. The average water temp is beyween 65-75 from late spring to late summer. Thanks for your advice.

  • How much milk do you think is enough for a 31 month old toddler?

I am in constant argument with the nanny about how much milk to give my son. She gives him approximately 8-9oz in one sippie cup. I told her that is too much. He is to small for that amount. I mean that is about how much I would drink. That to me is considered an adult size serving. I usually give him about 4 ozs if he asks for milk. He likes to try to spill it everywhere as well if you don't watch him like hawk.

This is 1% milk by the way. This is just for drinking purposes. He eats regular meals at somewhat normal intervals.

    What do you think?

  • Does your mother in-law drive you completely insane?

I got my wife's mom staying with us from Indonesia. This was supposed to be a six month thing...well now it is going on three years. I am usually not home, but I took a month off from work and I just can't believe the things she does.

For instance, all she does is cook all day. From 530 this morning till now she is still cooking. Same thing everyday. I don't eat the food, no one really eats it(all). She just keeps cooking, and when she is done she just leaves it out on the counter all day. There are right now about six different tupperware containers spread out on the counter and she has some wooden rack sitting in a pot of boiling water on the stove. I understand she is from a different culture and everything but I don't see where it makes sense in any culture to leave wood in boiling water. It is just stuff like this that is making me climb up the walls.

I can't say anything cause she don't speak English and my wife just laughs about it. My wife don't say anything cause she don't want to make her upset. I am indirectly and unwillingly funding this whole operation as well. Welp..here comes another tupperware container....Unreal! I can't wait to go back to work!

This is just one of many things she does. This is the most costly one. Other things inlcude, taking things and putting them in little plastic bags and putting them in any random place, Taking my shoes and putting them outside(regardless of the rain or snow). Losing my stuff, Tearing up my yard while planting branches. She will break a branch off a bush and plant it in the ground (in the middle of the yard) thinking that it will grow a new bush. My wife again just tells me to let it go. The list goes on and on... I would honestly rather be back in Afghanistan. I know my wife loves her and wants to be with her before she dies so that is why I don't force her departure.

Anyone else have these problems or similar?

  • What can I do with the stock situation on this AK-47?

See the links on the bottom to see what I am talking about.

I bought this just like you see it for $170 from the local gun shop. I want to add a regular stock or some kind of stock in addition to the Pistol Grip. I have been looking all over the place on the net and I have found a few different places that make them for almost every variant. What I need to know is what is this receiver? I am assuming it is stamped. It is a Maadi Imported by Century Arms. It says it is a MISR Receiver. Can I add another stock tang to the bottom? Or maybe pop some pins to get rid of that flat part on the back of the receiver to accomodate the end of a stock to actually recess into the rear of the receiver. Thanks for the help.

  • Egyptian Maadi AK-47 Stock configurations?

Alright so on the way home from work tonight I stop in the local Gun Distributor to say hi. So I see on the wall he has(or now had) a Maadi AK-47 on the wall. It had nothing but a pistol grip on it. The back of the receiver was flush and the mount (a piece of metal with two holes in it that sticks out about 1 3/4" of an inch. Just below that it is flat and flush. Looking at the different stocks they all seem to have a milled part that should slide into the receiver, that on mine don't exist. It don't look as if it was modified to be like that it just looks like that is the way it is. Anyone have any ideas about what kind of stock would go on this type of weapon? Or have you seen this kind of thing before. I would post pics but I haven't even got a chance to sneak it in the house yet. I have to wait for my wife to go to sleep. Thanks for any info.

  • SKS Bayonets. What is the difference between Russian and Chinese?

I have a Chinese SKS rifle from 1971 with a bayonet lug. I want to get a bayonet for it but not sure which one to buy. I would prefer a blade type but only see spike type ones for Chinese SKS's. Does anyone know what the difference is and which one I should get. Thanks....

  • Do You think Spraying Carb Cleaner on the Inside of a MAF sensor will mess it up?

I was over a friend of mines house and I was just checking the fluids on my car and Blowing the Airfilter out and next thing I know he has got the MAF in his hand and he had just sprayed the honeycomb with carb cleaner. That just seems like a bad thing to do looking at the thing. It don't look like it was made to get solvent sprayed all over it. It wasn't even that dirty in the first place. Now the car is running like crap. It seems like a clogged injector but I just replaced all of them. So now I think it is a sensor related problem Either MAF, MAP or TPS.

  • What color Senko's do you use for the different times of day for Largemouth Bass.?

Every since I went fishing with my cousing last year he got me hooked on Gary Yamamoto Senko's. I previously only used live bait. These things work great. I would only use the Green Pumpkin with black Flake and then I started using the Watermelon with no flake and they both work great. As it is getting darker though I don't see how the fish would be able to see these colors. I tried the bubblegum and got a few hits with it. Just wondering what other people who use these baits do. Thanks for any info.

  • Where could you find say night sights for a pistol? And what would be the best way to install them?

I have a Beretta 92. It is my Fall/Winter carry weapon and I have it for home defense as well. I bought it new a few years back and I absolutely love it. The only thing I hate about it is the sights. They are 3-dot sights. Two on the rear sight and one on the front sight post. These are worthless in the dark.

What do you think are good sights for a pistol?

  • Looking for the title of a older Horror Movie? Maybe out of England?

I saw bits of this when I was a kid about 5or6 (1985ish). I don't know how old the movie was then. I am pretty sure it was playing on HBO.

It started out with a family driving in some kind of BMW on a rainy day. There is at some point a car crash where the car rolls over(either theirs or another guys). The father of the family helps the man in the rolled over car and brings him to thier home. He later realizes that he is a murderer of some kind be looking at the mans hand and he had one fingernail that was really long.

I know this is a bit cloudy and grainy as is my memory. This is really bothering me and I want to know the name of the movie. Thanks for any help and the person that tells me or even puts forth a good effort will get the ten points. Thanks again!
