  • I don't know if homosexuality is a choice?

I mean, how could I? I'm straight, I lived in a world which labelled it as the default option, I never had to choose to be straight, so when gay people tell me it's not a choice, I take their word for it. After all, I have no idea what they went through. But when other heterosexuals say that it's a choice, I cannnot help but wonder "how do they know that?, if they are straight'

As a disclaimer, if your god accepts slavery, treats women like property and at one point thought stoning was an appropriate punishment, I couldn't care less about what else he thinks. And pedophilia has nothing to do with homosexuality, any more than rape with heterosexuality.

  • Satan killed billions by tempting Eve?

I saw this as best answer to a question about god killing more people than satan in the bible.

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Armfl...

When if the genesis story was taken as true, this claim is false. Humans would not have lived forever, in fact we would not even be here, god punished Eve for accepting satan's offer by giving her the ability to have kids, if satan hadn't done that, there would just be Adam and Eve frolicking naked in a garden where lions ate grass, in eternal ignorant bliss. No kids. So according to the bible, satan is responsible for billions being born, god decided the punishment would be death.

  • Why do people believe this?

Do christians truly believe that if someone is a pedophile rapist who murdered his victims but just before dying, says I believe in Jesus, he goes to heaven, and a man who has been a good father and husband, supporting his family, has been a useful member of society but does not believe in Jesus, he burns in hell for eternity?

What's the logic behind it? And don't tell me, it's written in the bible, quoting the verse I know exists, so like a good little idiot, I accept it without any questions. Where's the morality in it?

  • Valid evidence from books?

Let's say I'm writing a book on a boy who grows wings and starts helping people, becoming a hero. He lives in an apartment in New York and in one part of the book, he goes to L.A. The book mentions the events of Sept 11, Wall street crash and Obama becoming president.

Now, let's imagine the human race is gone and in 2000 years, an alien race finds the book and deciphers the language.

They find ruins of cities where L.A and New York are said to be. They even locate an apartment building. They find the ground zero memorial plate, the Wall Street plate and an Obama billboard sign.

Will this evidence prove to them that a boy who grew wings actually lived and helped people?

  • Prove that God doesn't exist?

    and prove that god exists?

I've seen the first question 3 times today in response to the latter.

Don't religious people realise that it's like asking 'Prove fairies exist' and replying 'Prove fairies don't exist'?

  • Quoting religious texts?

So if I decide to write a book and I put the line 'This book has been written by God' on the first page, is it sufficient for someone who actually believes the book was written by a god to quote this line as proof of his beliefs?
