Is there a way to use an app for android to control the built in media controls in ubuntu? Or even better is there a way to directly control google music from the phone?

I've been searching for ages and can't find a solid answer, especially not for 'non-windows' systems.

I want to use backblaze to backup both my ubuntu and windows partitions but as it only runs under windows I tried to mount the partition in windows, When i was using XP i just used Ext2IFS to mount my ubuntu partition and give it a drive letter but it doesn't run in windows 7.

Is there another program around that will be able to?

I know it's a SATA drive but is it a 2.5 inch drive? and are there any good offers on a 500GB+ drive with 7200RPM?

I've tried using multiple settings and all end up with the same issue in the end.

I run the install in -v -x mode as well as cpus=1 and every time it gets stuck on the same 3 lines

sometimes the /System/Libra.... line doesn't show put it does 90% of the time.

I have also allowed it to try and boot for 1hour+ so it definitely doesn't do anything after those 3 lines.

I want to have a go at a bit of soldering but i don't know where to get a good but also quite a cheap soldering iron from. Can anyone tell me where to buy one in the UK?

I know it is possible to SSH through either a computer at home setup to support it or a VPN with SSH enabled; but is it possible to do a similar thing with a web-server?

It isn't ideal to have my own computer on all the time (and i'd rather not open up ports etc on my own pc) and VPN's are fairly costly.

I've linked my phone contacts with their correct facebook profiles so i get their profile picture and other info like statuses, but it's not working too well as some pictures are missing and status are going to the wrong people.

I've tried refreshing/syncing it up again but no luck.

I have a 3rd gen ipod touch and updated it to the 4.0 IOS update and i want to jailbreak it or at least get it back to 3.1.3. I found the redsn0w one for the 2nd gen and iphone but it doesn't work for 3rd gen

I have a couple of avi files i want to convert to go onto my ipod but i can't a good free one, i've tried any video converter which gave terrible quality, and AutoMKV which didn't give sound (but has excellent video quality) and took a long time.

How do you downgrade an ipod touch 3rd gen from the 3.1.3 down to the 3.1.2 firmware?, i've tried downloading it and i get a message in itunes saying apple hasn't authorised it.

I thought that itunes kept all the music i copied to it within the itunes folder in 'my music', so after importing a music folder i had to itunes i deleted the folder. Now none of the songs work in itunes but i have them on my ipod touch.

How can i get my music back on my pc? the use ipod as hard disk option is no longer available for the ipod touch.

itunes had made a backup of my ipod and would have the song files in it.

my ps3 is connected via HDMI cable to my tv, when i turn my tv off it get's reset back to default image settings (vivid). My xbox is connected via component and the image settings remain the same. please help, having to set the image every time is incredibly irritating.

It takes about 20 minutes to load up my stuff let alone all of my friends. Is there a problem at the moment? or it just really slow?

When i format cells to any of the time formats (e.g [h]:mm or hh:mm) it adds the date stamp, it also has the date as 01/01/1900. I really don't want the date as i want to subtract the start time from the end time to work out my hours. please help :(

Does any one know where i could find a list of upcoming xbox 360 demos? or website that has a list that gets updated every week or so.

I use tversity to stream some video RSS feeds to my xbox, most of the feeds update weekly but i can never find the new video because the xbox likes to rearrange them into alphanumerical order.

Is there a way to stop this by arranging them by date or something?

I've heard that sky is coming to the xbox this October, i know it requires a gold subscription but does this give us any "free" channels (minus the gold subscription)?

The cable only really works if i hold it in place but if i twist it to just the right spot it works as well but not for long, otherwise the sound comes from 1 speaker not the other.

I tried another cable and that works fine but is too short.

Can anyone tell me if there is an easy fix? or am i just gonna have to go and get another for like £2-3, i don't mind spending the money it's just i don't want to get another cable and have the same thing happen.

I really want to speed up my renders as my computer is.... pathetic and takes an unbelievable amount of time to render a short clip at medium quality, and so i thought that a game console would work as it has to render 3d images all the time. please help :)
