  • How to get taxed less on overtime?

My husband is going to work approximately 50-60 hours of overtime both this week and next. He would like to "see" at least some of this money as opposed to being taxed to death on it. He currently claims zero on Federal - will increasing his number of exemptions make a noticeable difference in his paycheck?

  • Left pork roast on the counter all night, is it ok?

Forgot to put it in the fridge before I went to bed. It's cool to the touch, internal temperature is below 30 degrees, my house is kept at 65. I'm thinking I may not have an issue. Thoughts?

  • How to stop excessive saliva during a sore throat?

When I get even the slightest sore throat, my mouth makes a lot of saliva, which, in turn, makes me swallow - a lot. Because I am producing so much saliva and swallowing so much, it actually makes me nauseous...so much so that I usually throw up. Is there any way to stop this? I'm tried spitting out the saliva but that's a little nauseating too if you think about it..I'm ready to stick cotton balls in my mouth to absorb the excess. ;-\ Any ideas?

Here's a stupid question from a technologically challenged person (me) - My hard drive crashed on my laptop and I need to buy a new one - this one:

  • Storm door stuck behind the door casing. What do I do?!?

It's very windy here today and the wind blew my storm door open and it slammed shut and now the door is literally stuck behind the vinyl door casing. I tried to go outside and stick a screwdriver in to pry it out, but it didn't work. What can I do to open my door?

  • Can management time an employee's bathroom break?

I overhead an employee telling a manager today that he would be right back, he needed to use the bathroom. The manager then told him that he was going to begin timing his bathroom breaks because he took too long. This employee doesn't have a history of long bathroom breaks and the break mentioned above only lasted 5 minutes. Is this legal?

  • Question about Southwest's Online Check In and Baggage?

I love using Southwest's online check in, however I've never had to check baggage. Am I still able to check in ahead of time and just check my baggage at the counter? Or, do I need to check in when I check my bags?

I couldn't seem to find that info on their website.

  • Human Resources, Payroll Question?

Our pay week runs from Friday to Thursday, and I work at a school that has unpaid vacations like spring break etc. It was common practice to hold Friday's worked hours until after the unpaid vacation was over so the employees could file for unemployment. The same thing for Christmas break; they were paid for Christmas and New Years AFTER vacation as to not deny them unemployment benefits. This isn't something the school agreed to, just something the former payroll person did before me for probably 20 plus years.

I, personally, do not agree that that is the correct thing to do...even the legal thing to do. If a person worked on Friday, they should be paid for that Friday under the correct pay period. Am I correct in doing this? I encountered huge resistance from employees regarding this, however I'm just trying to do what's right and I really have no one above me that I can speak to about this without getting in trouble myself. Any information would be appreciated.

  • Food Poisoning or something more serious?

My husband went out to dinner last night. When he came home he complained of being overly full. The fullness lasted until we went to bed and it was accompanied by bad stomach cramps. At this point there was no bowel movement or vomiting. He went to the bathroom and made himself throw up to which he said he felt a little better. He slept for 2 hours and the pains/cramps came back - he again made himself throw up. That was about midnight and he slept the rest of the night.

This morning he said that he still felt terrible, however the pain/cramp wasn't that bad. He said he felt more muscle sore than painful. He did motion to the right side of his belly when I asked where the soreness was. He even said that he had to sleep upright and keep movement to a minimum because he felt like his "insides were going to fall out", also that he felt a little burning and stinging.

Could this just be a case of food poisoning or some more serious like appendicitis? According to WebMD, both have virtually the same symptoms!

  • Does my dog have kennel cough or just pink eye?

My dog was boarded this past weekend. As per policy, he was given the bordetella vaccine in advance of his stay. When we picked him up on Sunday he was sneezing a lot - possible kennel cough? That has since stopped, however this morning I noticed that his eye had green gunk coming out and his eye was red and weepy. He is, however, rubbing his face and ears frequently. If he was still sneezing, I would guess that he had kennel cough, but I see no symptoms. No fever, coughing, runny nose, vomiting etc.

So is this just pink eye or do you think it's kennel cough? He's going to the vet tomorrow to get the influenza vaccine, but I wanted to get other opinions first.

  • Will my dogs quick get infected?

Last night my husband and I were cutting the dogs nails, he jerked and we cut the quick. It was bleeding pretty good so I dipped it in flour and the bleeding stopped. It was a constant battle with him licking the blood clot out of it, so I ended up putting a sock on his food. I changed the sock again this morning as it was no longer bleeding, however I didn't want him to lick at it while I am away at work.

Do you think it will be healed enough to take the sock off him this afternoon?

Do you think it will get infected?

  • Is mold on the cap of your sour cream container ok?

I noticed a small amount of mold on the top of the sour cream container cap...after I ate it. The expiration date wasn't until 8/4 and there was no visible signs of mold on the actual sour cream. I threw it out, I just want to find out if the people I fed are going to get sick or not.

  • Why do I have pain/soreness in my gum and cheek?

It's hard to pinpoint the source of the pain (tooth etc). Both my gum and up into my cheek hurt. It hurts to smile wide, laugh or even open my mouth wide. It also hurts to chew. The pain is probably a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. It almost feels like I pulled a muscle but I'm not sure how that would have happened. Any ideas?

  • What is a good website builder?

I've made a website using Bluevoda.com and I found it to be fairly easy. Is there a website out there that's better? Has more options?

I'm looking to build a website for a landscaping company so nothing too fancy, but definitely nice.

  • Dog's stool is dark on the outside. Why?

My dog has excellent stool, however the past couple of days it's looked a little odd. While it's still solid (Sorry if too much information), the very outside of it is darker but not quite black. The inside of it is normal stool color.

My dog is still eating/drinking/acting normal. No vomiting or diarrhea. Last Friday my dog had a run-in with a couple of tylenol. I took him to the vet and he was given a clean bill of health.

Can someone explain why it's two-tone?

  • What are symptoms of Tylenol ingestion in dogs?

My dog ingested a few pills of Tylenol extra strength 500mg. I called the emergency vet and they told me to induce vomiting. I did and he vomited 3 times and I saw evidence of some pills in it. I called the emergency vet back to ask if I should look for any symptoms and they told me to call animal poison control. Unfortunately I don't have the $60 consultation fee for the call.

Right now he's sleeping. Gums are nice and pink, breathing is fine, no additional vomiting or any diarrhea.

He is a pitbull mix, 11 months, 72 lbs. Is there anything I should keep an eye on? The emergency vet didn't seem overly concerned after I said that he had vomited.

  • How long do employers have to send out corrected w-2's?

I, along with a many other employees, received our W-2's by the deadline. I filed my taxes and got my refunds. Just last week I received a "corrected" W-2 from my employer which is about 2 grand less than the original.

How long do employers have to send out the corrected information? What repercussions do I face tax-wise? My CPA now wants her fee again because she said that she, "needs to do the taxes all over again." Is this true?

Sorry for all of the questions, I'm just frustrated. I should send my CPA bill to my company.

  • Does cold air outside effect a gas stoves' efficiency?

I just received my gas bill this month (stove is only thing using gas) and I nearly had a heart attack. It was triple my normal bill and I haven't done any more cooking than usual AND I was out of town for 12 days during that billing cycle. I called the gas company and he told me that the cold air outside can effect the heating. I'm convinced it is an underground gas leak. Is this true?
