  • My folder says it's "Shared", but my other computer can't access it.?

There are three computers in my office. Two are running Windows 7 Home Premium and the third is running Windows 7 Professional.

I am trying to allow access to folders on Home Premium computers. I go to "Network" and open the other computer, but it says "You do not have permission to access \\Mike-PC\c. Contact your network administrator to request access." So, I went to Mike-PC's computer to "Share" that folder, joined the same homegroup / workgroup and activated everything in "Advanced Sharing Settings" in the "Network and Sharing Center", but it's still not working.

The Windows 7 Professional computer successfully "Shared" folders and the other two computers can read / write the files, but not the other way around.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Why do my speakers do this?

I just bought a new Yamaha RX-V573 receiver and two M60 PolkAudio floor speakers. I was playing video games last night, and I noticed that on some character voices (higher pitched), there would be a hissing / static / crackling noise. This happened on my previous receiver / speakers too, but only on certain things I watched. Does anyone know what that's about?

  • Why are so many young people wearing hoodies in the summer?

I live in Florida, and driving around I notice that quite a few young people (usually high school age) are wearing hoodies and long pants even though it's 85+ degrees outside. What the hell is their problem? How did it become cool to be so uncomfortably hot?

  • Which haircut looks better on me?

Okay, so my hair's a bit long right now and I was considering going back to a buzz-cut. Just wondering which haircut other folks like best. My wife likes me buzzed, and I like both cuts. So, do I look better with or without hair?

  • How to practice Kali at home?

I live too far from my martial arts school to practice with a partner, but I still want to practice at home. I was thinking of buying a 4"x4" wood post and mounting it to the ground somehow. Heaven Six on my heavy bag probably isn't such a good idea...

So how do other people practice with their Kali sticks at home?

  • How do people fight in the street?

Do people who take martial arts actually have a chance at fighting regular people "in the street"? For example, I've been in Jun Fan and Kali classes for 15 months, and I was wondering whether or not I'd have a better chance at winning the fight. I'd like to think of myself in the top 15% in my class, as I score more hits than my opponents in sparring. But, I realize that rule-less "street" fighting is wayyy different than sparring.

So, do people actually punch with really big movements that you can see from a mile away? And do people use round-kicks and such?

  • What are some techniques to stop flaring my elbows when I punch?

I've been taking Jun Fan, Kali and MMA classes for about 15 months now and a couple weeks ago my sifu told me that I flare my elbows when I get tired and tense. I've never been told this before, but I think he's becoming less and less lenient as my advanced class test (brown belt) is coming up in March. I do my best to shift my body weight via legs / hips, but when I get tired, my technique goes out the window.

Any drills I can do to eliminate this?

  • Why can't people post photos and ask what people think of their looks?

I clicked on a few and it says it's been deleted.

  • Who is good with VLOOKUP in Excel?

I'm getting super frustrated setting up a VLOOKUP function in Excel. I've completed it, successfully, around 20 times already in the same workbook. But now I'm unable to get the function to work. Would someone look at my spreadsheet and the formula that I'm trying to complete? The link to open the spreadsheet is below. And the cell / formula in question is filled in red with red text.

  • Why does the back of my knee hurt?

I was sparring last night, and I got kicked on my kneecap. But today when I woke up, the back of my knee hurt, A LOT. It's fine until I try to fully extend my leg. How is this possible?

  • What's the best material for Kali sticks?

I've had a pair of sticks made out of rattan before, but they got shredded after 4 or 5 months of light use. I now have a pair of polypropylene sticks by Cold Steel, which are great, but they're super heavy and my arms get tired after doing all the versions of Heaven six many times in a row.

So I've been looking at many different types of materials, and I just don't know which one is really durable, yet still lightweight enough to maintain control after a few drills. Wax wood seemed good, but I really don't know.

  • How do I make a drop-down list dependent on another drop-down list in Excel?

So I have a drop-down list with a range of options (part numbers). And I have another list with a range of options (item descriptions). I want it so that when I select a part number, the item description that corresponds with that part number automatically fills in.

    Part numbers, for example: 0011, 0022, 0033

Item descriptions, for example: paper, pens, pencils (respective to part numbers above)

I would like to select part number 0022, and in the cell next to it, have pens show up automatically.

    How do I do this?

  • Why doesn't my dog like new dogs?

My dog is a 22 month old female Great Dane / Doberman Pinscher. There are only two dogs that she is nice to when them come to my house, and she's known them since she was five weeks old. Other than that, she is ferociously mean to any of our friend's dogs that we've tried to have over, after she was about six months old. It's weird though, because we take her to the dog park and she really likes and plays with 90% of the dogs there (which at times is around 20 dogs).

We tried very hard to socialize her as a puppy. She is very sweet to the dogs and people she knows, but to any strangers (humans included) she's very protective of me and my wife.

Is there something wrong with her? Not that I want her to be overly friendly, because I do like that she's protective. Just worried that she might be too protective...

  • Why should I care about the human race continuing?

It seems like a moot point; after I'm dead, how could I care? So why would I care when I'm living? There's no real point.

***I don't hate life, people, animals, the environment; I'm not malicious, violent, abusive.

  • Why do I have no genuine empathy?

I don't really care what happens in the world unless it directly effects me. I used to have an emphatic outlook on the world and people, but the past year or so, I just don't care. I don't go out of my way to hate things, I just simply do what I like to do and don't care about anything else.

    Is this a personality disorder?

  • Am I being too harsh about this?

A few people in my ma classes like to wear the mma gloves so you don't hurt your knuckles. But we're not practicing on a wall or someone's face, just focus mitts. I don't ever say anything aloud, but in my head all I can think is "wow, what a pussy". I'm not really masculine or anything, I just think it's pretty lame. Too harsh?

  • What places can I practice?

I've got my martial arts classes two days a week, but I would like practice with my partner in a gym-like setting on the weekends, too. I'd need a place that has mats for take-downs and such.

I was thinking maybe the community college gym or something... What do other people do?

  • Why is Kali so confusing?

I've only been taking Kali for about two months now, but I am often confused when trying something new. I don't get nearly as confused in my regular class. It's my favorite out of the three ma classes I take, but I feel like a retard sometimes.

Should I practice at home or something? If so, on what? I don't really want to swing sticks around my house and break things...

  • Age difference too much?

So I've been taking a martial arts class twice a week for a few months now, and I'm usually with the same partner. We joke around but also work well together. Though we always try be eachother's partner in class, we don't do anything outside of class, so we're mostly acquaintances I guess.

I'd like to be his friend, but I think our age difference could be an issue... I'm 23 and he's 15. Is that weird for us to be friends? I don't think it would be so bad if it was 10 years later (me 33 and him 25), but he is still a kid and his parents could misconstrue me as a creep or something.

Also, how would I initiate hanging out without it being creepy? I really just want another friend.

  • What's a really good MMA gear bag?

I'm taking several different style classes and need to store my gear in a bag. I've got two sets of escrima sticks, focus mitts and sparring equipment. A large duffel-type bag would be ideal. So, I was wondering if there are bags out there made for just for these types of activities?
