I've been married to my best friend Matt since 2002, & in 2009 we became parents of a beautiful baby girl through the miracle of adoption. I love being a mom! I love shopping, fitness, scrapbooking, waterparks, stuff from the 80s, & being with my family & friends.
Which would be better or worse?
I've noticed that a lot of regular posters think that adopting from foster care is the only ethical way to adopt. But the kids have to experience abuse or neglect in order to end up in foster care in the first place, which is good for no one. So my question is, which of these situations is better:
1-A mother has a baby & feels she's not ready to parent, so she makes an adoption plan for her baby. She chooses the couple she wants to adopt the baby when the baby is born, & the baby goes to a stable family from the beginning.
2-A mother who isnt ready to parent has a baby & brings it home. She gets food stamps & housing assistance & all the government help she can get. She tries to raise the baby but for whatever reason it's too hard & the child ends up abused or neglected. The state takes the child & puts them in a foster home, where they wait for someone to step forward to adopt them, & the mother has abuse or neglect charges on her permanent record.
I'm not generalizing or saying all cases are like this, & I dont expect any of the people against infant adoption to change their minds, I'm just giving you something to think about. I'm asking if you had to choose between these 2 specific situations, which would be better for the child?
