Well i might as well fill this damn thing out!!! Im a hard rocker, but I'll chill with the occasionally country, ya know what i mean? After a long day, when im tired after football or something, Id rather kick back with Johnny Cash. I was truly born in the wrong generation. Rock and Roll from the 60's to 90's is my life as far as im concerned. Im a Doors fan, they are the greatest band to walk the earth. You'll always find me lending my knowledge to the people in the Rock and Pop section, because as i said that's my life ;) I live, breathe, eat, read, and drink rock and roll. Lets see here, every moment of my life i am thinking about it or listening to it, i breathe in the sound waves from rock, i eat on my Jim Morrison plates, i've read hundreds of rock and roll history books, and i drink from a hard rock cafe mug. So yuppers... If anyone needs help with something to that degree, i will try my hardest to answer their question and i wont laugh at any of th

  • Can teachers help me think about my future, and help show me how I can have the career that I would like, practically?

My sophomore school year is finally over, and I am going to be a junior next school year. It's about that time when as a high schooler you start to really see the people around you planning for their future. My friends are thinking about colleges, majors, minors, jobs, careers... and I'm stuck on what I would actually like to spend my life doing.

I absolutely adore science. A huge aspect of my life is my love of change and love to experience new things. Naturally, science is the field that is constantly changing, and we're constantly learning new things through science. This would make it the prime subject for me, not to mention that I just enjoy almost everything science. However, that is nearly as far as I have gotten in my decision. I need some educators to help shed some light on my ideas and perhaps let me know how plausible they are.

The science fields that I am planning to pursue are most likely geology, or chemistry. If, for instance, I received a degree in chemistry or geology, would that qualify me to teach chemistry or earth/geological sciences at a public school? Deciding a single thing that I would like to do with my life is overwhelming, and it's something that I don't think I'll ever decided until it's too late. I would like to know if with a degree in sciences like that, I could have the opportunity to go on to be a geologist or chemist, or split and take the path of a teacher. Those after all are two things I truly want to be. A scientist, or a teacher.

  • Chemistry Relationship Analysis help?

I've enrolled myself in my high school Chemistry honors class, which technically is not a class. We are given extra work and expected to learn the facts ourselves... I have some questions that I'm sure any chemist can answer, but since I have no background knowledge when it comes to chemistry, I'm a bit clueless.

"I The atomic mass of chlorine is 35.45

    BECAUSE

II The most abundant isotope of chlorine has 17 protons"

    1. I is true, II is false

    2. I is false, II is true

    3. I and II are both false

    4. I and II are both true, but II is not a correct explanation of I

    5. I and II are both true and II IS a correct explanation of I

This one in particular stumps me because i know that both are true, but I cannot decide if II can be considered a proper explanation. Chlorine's atomic number is indeed 17 which means it has 17 protons. However, the fact that you can calculate the atomic mass of something from it's isotope data makes me wonder if II is a proper explanation.

If anyone can give me an answer, i would greatly appreciate it. It's hard to just simply teach yourself chemistry!

  • What is it called when someone studies a specific animal species?

I have a few questions! If anyone can give the answers to them, I would be very appreciative.

Perhaps if someone wanted to study just the capuchin monkey, or just wanted to study the poison dart frog species, what would they be called?

What kind of job might that be?

How do you obtain a job like that?

What might the education requirements be?

If anyone can help, I would greatly appreciate it!:)

    thanks alot!

  • Is there a mandatory New York state Lunch restriction on calories and unhealthy food, OPINIONS PLEASE?

At my school, many changes have happened. Recently we were given a health freak of a principle, who believes in no candy, sugared drinks (snapples, carbonated juices, other juices), pop tarts, potato chips, and also believes we should have a 20 minute lunch period.

As an athlete i am allowed 850 calories for lunch, and i am expected to eat at 11am, make it through school til the end of the day, and then play sports which will ultimately burn 2-4 times more calories than my calorie intake. An average football player might burn between 1500-3000 calories in practice alone, and then try playing 4 quarters of this without having a good lunch. And then try telling students that once a week or every other week that they have an away football game that they are not allowed to stop at McDonalds to eat. Our superintendent feels it's HIS decision to choose what we eat, not our parents'.

Let me go a little more in depth with our lunches. We are now not allowed to have more than 2 ounces of meat (normally two slices) and if we get 2 slices of meat, we aren't allowed cheese. Our school offers hamburgers, but we are no longer allowed to get a SINGLE SLICE OF CHEESE on our hamburgers. 850 calories is our limit, but if anyone has children who were athletes or have a brain in their skull, they should know that that is hardly a limit for athletes who need almost twice as much.

I have spoken with my nutrition teacher. She has told me that there are hardly enough calories to get you through a practice alone. I spoke with my health teacher who for years has stressed the importance of calories and carbs in athletes, and she is outraged at the thought that my school feels like their athletes can perform and be healthy with the nutrition facts as they stand. I also spoke with the head of the cafeteria, who is in charge of enforcing the cafeteria rules, planning menus, lunches, etc. She is essentially the big honcho. I walked into her room asking for the calorie counts and nutritional values of each and every lunch on the menu. She said, and i quote, "let me guess, you're an athlete that wants more food". She understood that she wasn't giving us enough food, but she said her hands are tied because it was "state mandated".

Not only her, but my school's superintendent tells us that this is ALL state mandated, but i have a cousin who goes to school at a very large and prominent school in New York. They have not had changes in their lunch program AT ALL. They are allowed to buy brownies, cookies, snapples, CHEESE, as they please.

I have done my research, and from what i believe is our school is getting funds from the state for forcing upon us the "Health and Wellness for a HealthierUS", a plan developed by Michelle Obama. It was passed by congress, and is NOT mandated. Not only that, pizza is allowed and is considered a vegetable (it has one of the highest fat contents of all the lunches, and was originally not allowed, but pizza industries lobbied congress to consider it a vegetable).

I have reached the conclusion that my superintendent is not FORCED to follow these unhealthy regulations. They will hardly cut obesity levels, they will just starve us.

I'd like to know the opinions of people from the Yahoo Answers forums, and i would also like to know any proof you guys have against it being mandatory, or proving that this plan is mandatory.

    Thanks alot,

  • Smelly thing near anal area that came off with skin when shedding?

My leo gecko is about 6 months i think. I have 2 of them, both i believe to be females but i could be wrong. I recently noticed one of my geckos have issues shedding, so i help her with it. Today, she shedded again, but this time there was some strange skin shedding around her anal area at the beginning of the tail. I'm not even quite sure it was skin. However... it came off right with the skin no problem. The lizard was in no pain whatsoever. But it stunk, it had a strange odor to it. It wasn't lizard poop, it smelt sort of like it, but it was like a pinkish-tan kind of thing. I was curious as to if it was like, a lizard's form of period or something? I don't know if that's the stupidest thing you've ever heard or not. haha. thanks! -Joe

  • What are these tiny black bugs everywhere?!?!?

Just recently we noticed what another person in my household believed to be fleas. We have 4 cats, none of which are outdoors. It is possible that our dog dragged them inside, or I myself could have been a courier of these bugs from a camping trip. Im curious as to what these bugs are... because i am not convinced these are fleas. From the pictures i have seen of fleas and lice and things, i cant seem to make a correct match. These are the characteristics of these things.

    -black

    -extremely tiny

-sizes range from grains of salt to poppy seed size

-some are round, and others are somewhat wormlike.

-i have spotted ones that are almost in the shape of donuts, like with a hole in the middle. Like they are curled up or something

-react to citrus. the first thing i tried when i saw these bugs was get a water bottle and fill it with lemon juice. i sprayed bedspreads and let the juice sit for a little bit. essentially the lemon juice melted these little mite things. they melted right onto the bedspread

-they tend to hang out on our cats, and on bedspreads and sheets and stuff. I have spotted several on me, that's how i myself originally noticed these things. i pet my cat, and wound up with 2 fleas on my arm.

I cannot tell exactly what these things are. if you have any questions to help me out with this, PLEASE ASK and i will answer. I would very much like to figure out exactly what these things are. Im leaning towards some kind of mites.

And also, for bites, im not quite sure what to think. I recently had surgery, on my abdomen. A day after the surgery i had a rash where the orange liquid stuff was applied during surgery. Everything points to that being just a rash, but there is almost a similar one on my arms. Extremely tiny and close together little bumps. Im not sure what to think of them. I've looked up lice bites, mite bites, flea bites, and the bites i have come across are all far too large.

if you have anything that could be of help to me, please let me know!!!!!!

  • In your opinion, what is the most unhated or most accepted genre of music?

I was watching the half time show, which i see they put Madonna in. WTH? Everyone hates Madonna... or so they say. Now i was thinking, if they got a country singer, that would appeal to more people. But in your opinion, what is the most accepted genre of music?

I think country is widely accepted, and if they chose a country singer they would have appealed to a larger audience.

Doing a science project, wanted to know how i could make something that could send out an AM signal?? Im making a crystal radio, and we're having issues picking up a good AM signal. Is there a way to make my own device that can create an AM radio wave so i can test my crystal radio?

  • How come my radio will only get AM stations now?

Im stuck in the 70's so i listen to the radio!! I prefer it over most devices. But it seems one of my faithful weather radios has kicked the bucket, but i think it's fixable!

I listen to the FM stations, and at my surprise my radio stopped playing. I've let it go for a few days, but now i noticed that the radio picks up AM frequencies, however when i change the dial to FM, it still picks up the same frequencies. Ive tested it with a radio station on the AM, and whenever i turn the knob, it stays on the same station.

I have an electrician in the house looking at the dials to see if there is a break somewhere within it, but i wanted to know if anyone has any ideas that could keep it from picking up FM waves and only AM.

    Thanksss :D

  • Would a female and male parakeet be fine together?

Well, im asking this because recently our female parakeet died. We had 2 parakeets for close to 3 years now. One male, one female. From what we understand it is best to keep small birds in pairs of 2's, 4's, 6's, and so on. My main question is would the male try to fight the female if we added her to the cage?

Im not a bird expert, but i know most animals are territorial, and i figured if he is used to sharing his territory, he wouldn't have quite an issue. But, again, im not an expert. And frankly all the stuff the people at petco say doesn't mean jackshit because they never seem to know what they are talking about!!

If anyone could tell me any issues i would have with adding a female to the cage, or any plausible problems, let me know! I want to know if it is a good idea or bad idea.||

    THANKS :D

  • Would a cat be able to survive a New York winter on it's own?

I live in New York, and recently (Well within a few months) I've seen a poor little black and white cat wandering around. It is quite skinny, but i think it's skinny because it is somewhat young. It doesn't seem too old at least. I have a 2-3 year old cat that i guess we could still consider a kitten, and it looks to have a similar body type to the homeless cat.

I've noticed just recently this cat has been friendly to me everytime i get home after dark. It comes right up to me and lets me pet it and everything, and i felt so bad so i decided to feed it some catfood and water. It gobbled up the food, and im sure it was full after that.

I've been worried, because the nights are getting colder and colder. I'm not sure it has a place to go and stay warm. And when the snow comes out im not sure it will be able to find any chipmunks or anything to eat. I was wondering, what will it eat or how will it stay warm? I will try to continue feeding it hoping it comes back for food... but if it doesn't eat the food what else will it eat?

Im also not sure how cats regulate body heat and everything and im not sure how well it will be able to stay warm. if anyone can give me a good answer to help me out with my question i would be very grateful.

    Thanks alot :)

  • Was Rubin "Hurricane" Carter innocent?

The trial of "wrongly convicted" boxer Rubin "Hurricane" Carter has sprung many questions over the years. It's influenced a successful Bob Dylan song and a movie about the events. People i have seen are still trying to prove that he is guilty. Some are trying to prove his innocence still.

What is the verdict anyone has on this? Is he really innocent? I don't know what to think about all of the stuff i have heard.

And im sure millions of people haven't even heard of him. But to all you small percentage that have, please give me some input :)
