  • On my FAFSA I put I'd be a graduate student. Now I have to take undergrad classes. Will this affect loan/aid?

I put on my FAFSA that I would be a graduate student for 2009-2010 but now I need to take undergraduate classes that will serve as prerequisites for Fall 2009 and then go on to take graduate classes in the Spring. Do I need to go in and change my FAFSA to say I'll be an Undergrad (5th year and beyond I believe is the option) or should I leave it as is? Will it affect my financial aid?

  • Have you had your license suspended in Illinois for uninsured accident (Safety Responsibility Law)?

It's been almost three years since I was in an accident uninsured. My license was suspended last summer (2 years after accident). Has anyone else been in this situation? Someone told me that because it's been 2 years and I've not been sued I can argue that the statute of limitations is up and they've not sued me. Please only answer if you have knowledge of the law or the situation. No need for extraneous commentary. Thanks

  • If you're a father who lives far from child how often do u see him and how do u keep a good relationship?

My son is 4 years old and his father and I just split up in May 2008. We both moved to different cities. He moved to a city 5 hours from his son and I. Seven months later he is engaged. The problem is, he has only seen his son three times in 7 months. Our son is so young but he is taking it really hard because he doesn't understand. He went having his dad around 24/7 when he wasn't in school to seeing him once every couple of months. His dad will say he's coming and then back out the day before he's supposed to come. He said money is an issue (even though he makes three times more money than I do and doesn't financially support his child) so I offered to pay for his trip. He said okay then today (the day before he's scheduled to come) he backs out. He just keeps saying he can't come. No other explanation. My son cries for him and when he talks to him on the phone he asks him to come see him and his father tells him he's coming so he goes to the door and looks for him. My son is in special education at school because his progress has reverted since the move. I really see that my son needs his father but his father is not doing everything he can do to be a part of his life. If you're a father who lives far away from your child, how often do you see your child? How do you keep a good relationship with your child? How do you be there for your child?

Anyone with any other insight will help.

  • Dodge Caravan needs body work. Should I pay the 1,000 or more for the body work or swap the transmission?

My mom has a 2000 Dodge Caravan, the basic one. She was side swiped on the driver's side and the damage was pretty bad. Neither door can be opened. It drives perfectly fine however. I've driven it, but my mom is too old to climb over the seat to the driver's side. Someone is selling a 2000 Dodge Caravan for six hundred because the transmission is out. Other than that, it's in great condition. (other than that...lol). I was wondering if it makes sense to buy the van and have the transmission from my mom's van placed into it. That way we just pay the measly 600 for the van, whatever for labor to take out the transmission and put it in as opposed to paying for the doors which cost about 1,000 total because of the sliding door and then paying for them to be put on. What do you think?

  • Should I buy a newer car with more miles or an older car with fewer miles?

I'm on a very, very, very tight budget and I need a car pronto. I've been researching for about two months now and I need to make a move soon. I'm looking at a 2002 Dodge Neon that has 95,000 miles or a 1996 Mazda Protege that has 72,000 miles. Can anyone give me some guidelines that will help me make this decision?

-I plan to have whichever car diagnosed by my mechanic but I need to narrow it down to the best decision first.

-Are miles more important than age? Is there any way to check and see if the oil was changed regularly on a car? Does either vehicle have a reputation good or bad? Anything helps except inane comments. Thanks!

  • What is the best 35 mm camera to get for a beginner for less than $400?

I'm going back to school to study more graphic design and I'm minoring in visual arts. I'm taking an Introduction to Studio: Photography class and I'm required to have a 35 mm camera with manual options. I have no idea where to start! I know my budget and I've looked on craigslist and am considering buying used. Any suggestions?

  • As Christians, should you let a friend go because they are in a different place in their walk with the Lord?

I have been trying to better my relationship with the Lord. I am, as my mother would say, a baby in Christ. I have been talking to a guy and we were becoming good friends. One day, I had a medical issue and he said a prayer with me over the phone. A few days later he told me we couldn't be friends anymore because he felt a "barrier" when we prayed. He told me we were on different spirtual levels and we couldn't be friends. To me, that is not how we are supposed to treat each other. We are supposed to support each other and help each other in that sense.

What do you think? What does the bible say about this?

  • Can my doctor give we a local anesthetic before he unpacks my wound?

I had a lump removed from under my arm at an ER and the ER doctor packed it with some sort of ribbon. It hurt like heck even then but I figured it was because it was a fresh wound. Two days later I went to my primary doctor for him to unpack the wound only to find out that HURTS EVEN MORE THAN THE FIRST TIME. I screamed at the top of my lungs from the pain and then he turned around and packed it again! It was the longest three minutes of my life! Pure torture. I am going back tomorrow to get the wound unpacked once again and I cannot bear to think about it. I want to ask my doctor to give me a local anesthetic before he unpacks it. Can he do that?

What else can I do to ease the pain? I had taken a Vicodin right before I went in and that didn't help?

Do you think my primary doctor can and will give me a local anesthetic before he does this heinous act?

  • I have a painful underarm lump. What could it be?

    Let me explain:

The lump progressed from one tender bump to a group of three painful underarm lumps. I went to the ER last night because I could not take the pain anymore. The doctor felt it and said "Hmmm. It has a funny texture. It is hard on one side and rubbery on another." So he lanced it open and there was no fluid or pus only blood. He then told me he wasn't sure what it was, but knew it definitely wasn't an abscess, staph infection or infected sweat gland. I am now waiting patiently for my test results but I can't help but wonder what it could be.

Any ideas from those who may have had something similar?

  • How much should I charge for graphic design services?

I've been working as a graphic designer for a company for almost two years. Now, I'm starting to freelance. I've been contacted about a project but I don't know how much to charge. The details are:

30 17x10.5 spreads for a magazine (for print and web use)

Design and Layout Only - Photos, Graphics and Text Provided

the business is a brand new green living style magazine

    this is the second issue

    can lead to future work

I know that I don't want to charge per hour. I definitely want to charge a flat rate. What do you think is a fair, flat-rate for a project such as this?

  • I have a BS in journalism. I want to go into graphic design is a second bachelor's a good idea?

I've had no luck finding a job in journalism. I had a news-editorial specialization with my degree. Since then, I have had a summer internship in graphic design and Iove it. However, I feel like graphic design is one those things that you need technical training in to REALLY do it right. What do you think?

    -second bachelor's

-sit around and be broke while looking for more experience

  • Why do some people insist on forgetting the Civil Righs Act of 1964?

Don't you know that is when Blacks actually got their freedom. I keep hearing people say how Blacks are bitter about slavery, but it's not about slavery! Black people still got the same "slave" treatment up until 1964 when it was decided the law would no longer allow it.

Lynching, beating, denial of their right to vote, denial of their right to due process, did i mention the lynching, segregation of their school systems --- all of these things legally ended only 43 years ago. We're not talking about Black people's ancestors. We're talking about people who lived through that who are now their parents and grandparents.

You can try to seperate yourselves from it as much as you can, but don't be in denial that this is recent history.

  • Photographers? Do you look through the eye lens (?) on a digital camera or do look at the display?

I always see ameteurs like me just looking straight at the display. But I see some pros looking through the eye thingy with one eye closed. Does it make a better picture to do that, or is that only for those fancy cameras?

    LOL at me...I know.

  • Are there any student loan companies that lend to students with not so hot credit?

My identity was stolen by a family member and now my credit is shot. HOWEVER, that is not the point. It is my last year in school and I need to take summer classes to graduate. I only have a small amount of Federal Stafford loan left (which is not going to even cover 1/3 of my expenses) and my school is not offering Perkins Loan anymore. WHAT ARE SOME LENDERS THAT MIGHT GIVE ME A CHANCE? EVEN WITH A CO-SIGNER IT IS HARD TO GET A STUDENT LOAN? ANY SUGGESTIONS OF LENDERS THAT HELP PEOPLE LIKE ME?
