Childfree males and expectations?
I'm just curious how society differs, if at all, regarding male and female plans to have kids.
I'm a woman who doesn't want kids. Even strangers have reacted with surprise and shock, scorn or condescension. "You'll change your mind when you get older", they say. "Once you've done what you want to do, you'll want to settle down and have children". I am expected to want and have kids. But I truly don't believe I will.
Guys who don't want kids-- do you ever get this treatment?
3 AnswersGender Studies8 years agoPotato with fluid filled bumps?
I got some gold potatoes a few days ago, and when I went to.cook one, I realized one of them has little bumps that are swollen and about the size of a mosquito bite. The lumps are the same color as the rest of the skin and can be popped, upon which occasion they release a clear fluid that smells mildly sour.
I have googled with all the terms I can think up. I have racked my brain. I genuinely have no idea what this could be, and if eating that potato will hurt me.
Ideas?
2 AnswersGarden & Landscape8 years ago'Misspelled' variations of names?
I've wondered for a while why a parent would name a child something that looks like a misspelling of a common name. I'm not trying to be rude or judgemental; I'm only curious. For example, I work with a Threasa and a Kristain, and have met a couple Micheals.
10 AnswersBaby Names8 years agoDo you ever get chills when you sing?
Sometimes when I sing, especially acapella, I get little chills in my shoulders and down my spine when I hit certain notes. It often happens when I hit a note, particularly a high note, just right.
Anyone else get this?
2 AnswersPerforming Arts8 years agoDid I fracture something?
About two or three months ago, I dropped a plate on my foot. It struck the top of my foot with its edge, which hurt like crazy. Fast forward to now. There is still a small bump where it hit, and pressure, putting on shoes, or bumping the spot still hurt. What did I do?
2 AnswersInjuries9 years agoHow do i get coworkers to turn down their music?
I work nights at a large retail store stocking apparel, when there are no customers and the store is closed. Our store has departments, so we have a grocery guy, a furniture guy, a housewares guy, and so on, also on nights. Housewares guy is a bit difficult to deal with in that he plays extremely loud rap.music all night. I can hear it across the store. This noise makes me feel stressed and makes it hard to concentrate on my job. However, our boss seems fine with it, and our supervisor plays loud music too, while engaging in yelling and goofing off with Housewares guy. The boss/manager doesn't care.
Is there any way to politely yet assertively tell them to tone down the party atmosphere and not get laughed at or dismissed immediately? I'm not part of their bro buddy circle(partly due to being a woman ) and generally get sarcasm or outright rudeness from the supervisor, as well as little to no help from the others despite being expected to help them, even if it means staying late.
And yes, I am looking for a new job, but this situation is bordering on untenable.
2 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment9 years agoSudden migraines and dizziness? ?
I never got migraines before, but in the last week I've had two. I've also been disoriented often, forgetful and confused, and have had dizzy spells. I'll be at the store and forget five times what single item I went there for. Tonight I left work early because I was so dizzy I felt like I was on a ship.
I'm a 23 year old female and on my period, though I've never had these symptoms with menstruation before.
2 AnswersPain & Pain Management9 years agoCan my aloe plant be saved?
My aloe plant's leaves are browning at the edges and going limp. I fear I have over-watered or given it too much sun. How can I fix it? Can it be saved?
