A friend and I went camping and became very ill after a couple of days. After discussing with some other friends a medical buddy said it may have been my propane grill that I had left on without lighting it so gas was coming out and not being burned. I am thinking of insurance and credit cards companies mostly. They send you offers then sometimes if you reply to them they deny you the offer. They get away with this by stating offer good upon approval only. I think it would be funny if a loan company promoting a home-owners loan up to 100K would be forced to give that loan to someone they sent it to that did not own a home. I get these all the time. Or the credit card company that sent an offer for a card to the family pet that happened a while back. Might cut down a lot on junk mail and calls

We use the rationale that we can discount utility since people have a preference to consume soon rather than later; but when using a dynamic model over an infinite time frame how do we justify that someone living 200 years from would rather I consume 1 unit today as opposed to him consuming 3 units when he lives. This must be the case if all people are weighted equally.

as an example: If I go to a nice place for $50 a plate and get bad service so I tip 10% for the bad they get $5. If I go to regular place for $20 a plate and get good service and tip 20% they get $4. It is rarely more difficult to bring me a $50 plate, it is not easier so what makes the person in the more expensive place worth more even though he's not as good?
