  • Italians, please help!! Need recipe for Macaroni Pie?

Thanks to DiveIn and luvterriers - you don't have to answer again.

Have seen this in the film 'The Leopard' (Il Gattopardo) and a backgroundshow to it on the BBC about two weeks ago. Tried to watch it online but can't do it as I live in Ireland.

It's a savoury pie with a crust and filled with pasta, chicken, chicken livers, cooked ham, mushrooms and some other things.

The film plays in Sicily but that doesn't mean it's a Sicilian recipe so please ask around in your family if anybody knows something similar.

It probably is a recipe that isn't much used anymore and possibly also regional (if Sicilian it would be from the Donnafugata area or Lipari island).

Thanks a lot and have a Happy Christmas.

Welche (Wild) Vögel leben in freier Wildbahn in Italien/ Sizilien?

Danke an alle und Frohe Weihnachten.

  • To all the Sicilians out there: need recipe for Macaroni Pie?

I have seen Visconti's film The Leopard recently and want to do the Macaroni Pie (with chicken) for Christmas.

Does anybody have the recipe or know where I can get it?

What other bird meat could I use to make it a bit more special but still keep it authentic? So it would have to be a (game) bird that naturally lives in Sicily.

    Thanks to you all.

  • Does anybody have information...?

... on where I can get a map of the Phoenix Park area/ Strawberry Beds, in Dublin, Ireland, in the 1970s (or knows what it looked like there at the time)?

... on schools in the area mentioned above in the time (and whether they did school trips during the 1970s and 1980s - days, weekends or longer)?

  • Dog owners...?

I want to write a story involving a Terrier (Jack Russel or other smaller breed; no Yorkie though) or Beagle and know that you have to secure your garden to prevent the dogs digging their way out.

    What does this involve?

Are these electrical collars they have in the US allowed in UK/ Ireland? (They have a sort of wire in the ground and a receiver on the dog's collar so he can't leave the premises when alone)

Do you need planning permission, e.g. if you want to build a new wall or make the old one higher or a kennel/ hut?

What type of training did you give your dogs, when did you start and how did you get them not to relieve themselves inside?

How much excercise do they need and what are the outstanding character traits of the breeds above? Are they suitable as family dogs with children of 6 years+?

    Any other tips?

Thanks a lot for your help!!

  • To all you guys out there....?

Why are some of you over eager to tie the knot and have children - even if you've only just met (like my ex) - while others are reluctant even to consider it after nearly a year (my current partner)? Is it because you don't want to commit, take responsibility, or are afraid of missing out ...?

It's not that I want kids or get married right now (it's still too early) because I have other plans and want to enjoy my life. I know it would change everything esp as we both won't have family near us to help out every now and then (he's Welsh, I'm German, we live in Dublin).

He told me before that he doesn't really want kids but it always sounded like it was just because he hadn't found the right one to have them with. But yesterday he told me he knew he didn't want kids since he was 18 (he's 10 years older than me). So that's different...

I really love him but that's a make or break point and one of us will have to give up their stand if we want to stay together.

    Can this work?

... why do we keep bumping into things at home getting bruises and lumps knowing where the obstacles are?

  • How can Christians be Vegetarians...?

... if the Communion IS Christ's flesh and blood and not only a symbol thereof?

Again I don't want to offend anyone as I'm Christian myself. Makes sense to me though. A friend asked me this sometime ago.

  • HIS resting day...?

Today is HIS resting day (whatever day it is in your religion). So it doesn't make any sense to pray as he won't hear it?? Imagine HIM coming back the next day having millions of voicemails on his answering machine, thinking damn another week has started and it's the same thing all over again. Why can't they give it a rest for once.

I'll just go get a coffee and then see what everybody wants from me. And I'm having a conference today, Iwon't get thorugh this, will have to cancel it. And see if I can delegate some of them.

A friend of mine came up with that basic story. I changed it a bit but I think he's got a point. I'm Christian (Catholic) and it's not to offend anyone. Hope you don't take it too seriously.
