Uncle Mountbatten was pronounced "Looey", so will young George's third name be the same or will he be a "Loo-iss". In Yankeeland, we say the latter. Any Brits invited to answer!

...and junket tablets, packaged Danish dessert [red currant pudding that you cooked] and those tasty canned peaches that were clingstone and all shaggy in the middle where the pits were. Oh yes, how about water biscuits that were like hockey-pucks and were super with chowder. Nabisco made them, as I recall. Hey seniors, take me shopping in yesterday?

1 AnswerGoogle8 years agoWhat was your very favorite car during your lifetime?
Mine was our 1955 Volkswagen "bug" - it had a sunroof, side flippers as turn signals, and a 1-gallon capacity auxiliary fuel tank that could be opened with a little handle between the front seats. It lasted us 6 years and cost $950 new off the lot. In those days, there was only one dealer in the entire state.

6 AnswersOlympics9 years agoAnyone have a favorite spoonbread recipe? Am having it in lieu of mashed 'taters for Thanksgiving!?
A wonderful old hotel in downtown Los Angeles had super-heavenly spoonbread on the menu forever...but nobody ever could get the recipe out of the chef. He was a southerner, proud of it, and very stingy with recipes. I'd like to hear from someone with a southern heritage who's actually made spoonbread during their lifetime!

I always forget just how many 'good eats' we had all those decades ago...anyone in here remember some of their own old favorites? How about prune whip, eggs goldenrod, and Bakers chocolate wafers - came in a round tube like Pringles do today, and could be stacked with whipped cream between, wrapped in wax paper for a few hours, then sliced on the diagonal and served with more whipped cream on top of each serving. Ahhhh bliss! And let's not forget creamed finnan haddie, broiled shad roe [Bumblebee made a nice tinned version] and chipped beef on toast. Memory lane eats, anyone?

2 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoRecipe for Mexican Bread Pudding?
Used to buy it in nice square pieces at a local Mexican deli-bakery but the store shut down. The texture was very solid, spicy with cinnamon & brown sugar, and had a firm but custardy consistency. Even a link would be helpful!
