  • jehovah's witnesses - genesis 33:20?

Watchtower claims that other bibles use of Lord God is not appropriate... Now, being the most accurate bible out there and all, how come NWT translated Gen 33:20 as

"After that he set up there an altar and called it God the God of Israel"

    When the Hebrew text reads

    El God of Israel

I can understand other bibles trying to downplay El and use almighty or such, but being most accurate, I think NWT should have given god El the proper translation after all, El was Jehovah's father.

  • Jehovah's Witnesses, dates and "truth"?

From beginning Watchtower taught that Jesus returned in 1874 and this teaching has been taught as truth until 1943.

From 1943, it was taught that Jesus returned in 1914 as truth.

Prior to 1943, WTS used a different set of calculation to prove JC returned in 1874 and in 1943 they used totally different set, how exactly does this work and still be the truth? (6000 years vs 2520 years from 607BC)

Also prior to 1943, 1914 (original Armageddon date) was based on Babylon falling to Cyrus in 536BC to which 70 years were added to come up with 606BC for fall of Jerusalem. Since 1943, WTS used 539BC as fall of Babylon but claimed 2 years were needed for Jews to return to Jerusalem, again why different standards.

Prior to 1922 JC was claimed to have been enthroned in 1878 and then all of a sudden the truth has changed for JC to have taken invisible throne in 1914. How did Rutherford know this? Did angel tell him or what's the deal?

Prior to 1930s last days were taught to have began in 1799 but in the late 1920s they were revised to 1914, again how did this truth happen to change.

When Watchtower eventually eliminated 1914 will you feel duped or will you accept the new date or new theology without a date as truth? Remember all the previous truths were based on deep study of the bible by God's Channel of Communication on earth - so they tell you.

Big question is, JWs claim to study the bible and try to tell others they've come to their conclusions on their own, so how exactly does this whole truth and bible study work for you guys? Do you all get enlightened at the same time on the manner which obviously the old truth was not the real truth to begin with or do you simply accept the word of your leaders who claim to be speaking on God's behalf and who claim to know more than you which you gladly accept as fact regardless what the leader's credentials are especially since most have high school education. 1+1=3 yes, no or maybe? ;)

  • Jehovah's Witnesses and Jesus as mediator?

Since no JW answered the question earlier and one lazy JW claimed these were out of context, here's the question again. This time, before you answer it or image the quotes are out of context look them up in your own publications before you answer.

Why is it that JWs (not of anointed) pray in the name of Jesus when 99.9% of JWs don't have Jesus as their mediator.

In fact, I would venture to say that majority of JWs don't even know that teaching and many will simply say I'm lying. So just for JWs and for their studies here are some reference material that basically states that JC is mediator between God and 144k BUT not between the "great crowd"

"So in this strict Biblical sense Jesus is the "mediator" only for anointed Christians."

    Watchtower 1979 Apr 1 p.31

"Likewise, the Greater Moses, Jesus Christ, is not the Mediator between Jehovah God and all mankind. He is the Mediator between his heavenly Father, Jehovah God, and the nation of spiritual Israel, which is limited to only 144,000 members." Worldwide Security Under the "Prince of Peace" pp.10-11

"Christ does not act as Mediator of the new covenant toward them [great crowd], yet they benefit from this covenant through the work of God's Kingdom. Christ still acts toward them, however, as High Priest, through whom Jehovah can and does apply the ransom to the extent of their now being declared righteous as God's friends. (Compare James 2:23.)" Watchtower 1991 Feb 15 p.18

If JC died only for anointed and established a covenant only with anointed why do non-anointed JWs pray in JC name since inferred closure of prayer in Jesus name implies you're petitioning God through a mediator, Jesus who isn't your mediator in the first place!

  • Jehovah's Witnesses who won't die question?

    This is 3 part question.

    1. So how many JWs here think that they will not die in this system of things?

2.And what makes you any different than the last 130 years of believers who thought they wouldn't finish school, of have kids or grow old in this system but many are DEAD! (please don't tell me because you're in the last days of last days, this is exact same BS that all those JW believed who have died now nor bother using scriptures which I know all too well and are the same scriptures used by your long dead "brothers and sisters", use your thinking capabilities here)

3.When will you actually give up on the idea of not dying? ex. When you're ... old, when Watchtower tells you you're not in the last days or when your theoretical date comes and goes without fulfillment or...?

  • Jehovah's Witnesses: Ex 16 quail account?

According to Exodus 16, Jews are starving and complain about not having meat. Why would Jehovah provide quails for the Jews if they had plenty of livestock to begin with? Is the bible contradictory? Were Jews or Jehovah delusional about the animal situation? By Jehovah's action, was he encouraging lazy attitude by either herding quails for Jews or actually breaking his own Sabbath and creating quails for them when in fact they had plenty of livestock to begin with. What's the deal with this entire story?

  • Jehovah's Witnesses,blood and breast feeding?

“Composition of the Blood,” stated: “The blood is made up of several components: plasma, red and white blood cells, and platelets.” ...Witnesses refuse transfusions of whole blood or of any of its four primary components.- WT 2004 Jun15 p.22 par 11

If white blood cells are banned why do Jehovah's Witnesses breast feed their babies when breast milk contains millions of white cells?

    http://www.askdrsears.com/topics/breastfeeding/why...

    http://www.babycenter.com/404_whats-in-breast-milk...

If your child was in emergency and it needed a transfusion of white blood cells to live, you would let it die but you have no problem nursing your child milk that contains the same white blood cells.

Why double standards and is Watchtower blood guilty of death of untold number of witnesses who died and still die due to refusal of white blood cells transfusions?

  • Jehovah's Witnesses vs Harold Camping?

Why does Feb 2012 Watchtower paint Camping as false prophet for setting dates. Watchtower set end dates of 1914, 1925, 1975 plus many other minor dates and yet JWs imagine they are different from Camping? Why is that?

JW claim that they never said Jehovah told them, but I don't remember ever reading where it said that Jehovah told Camping about his end of the world prediction.

So why would Camping be considered a false prophet while Watchtower would not be?

  • Jehovah's Witnesses and counting time?

Just curious, how much time do you count to post here?

Do you count time when you reply to each others question as well?

Since majority of you don't know how to answer questions but simply direct people to jw.org what makes you think the public will take you seriously and is that how you act at the doors when householder asks questions of you - direct them to jw.org?

Just saying, at least if you can analyze the questions and present your view with some references, people my give you more credit but majority of you just make yourselves look like you have no idea what you're talking about.

There is only few of you that actually put effort and these ones deserve thumbs up, but the rest...LOL

So since most of you can't even answer properly, do you feel justified counting time here instead of knocking on doors or joining actual forums where you can make an actual conversation with people.

  • Jehovah's Witnesses biggest growth in years!!!?

Yup biggest growth in anointed in 4 years!!! New partakers at 12,604 from last year's 11,824 that amazing 6.5% increase!!!

Jehovah sure is speeding things...Oh wait, wasn't that number supposed to be get smaller as the end nears?

    Anointed Growth

    '08 - 9,986

    '09 - 10,857 - 8.7% increase

    '10 - 11,202 - 3.1% increase

    '11 - 11,824 - 5.5% increase

    '12 - 12604 - 6.5% increase

Who cares about this? JW and xJW who laugh at lunacy of GB :)

Wake up to the fraud before you get too old, too broke and will be left at the mercy of this broke system of things to care for you in your old age (that is if there is money to do so when you retire). Research Watchtower past so you don't fare as many of your old one in your congregations who were taught the end would have come in their life time only to have given up education, families and/or kids and have nothing to show for but an illusion of paradise life.

  • Jehovah's Witnesses and references?

Is there any information that as a Witness you would be willing to examine if presented to you outside of Watchtower publications? For example, many of us read quoted material in Watchtower publications and discovered the quotes were used in such a way as to mislead the reader, and misrepresent the author.

As a witness I understand your defenses go straight up and you stop to hear what is said and you automatically deny any possibility of this taking place and either attack the character of the individual who brings this information to your attention, you blame it as old light, claim imperfect men make mistakes or any number of excuses you have been taught to respond to such and "attack?"

While this is generalizing JWs as a whole, this fact probably covers 99% of individuals who respond here and often direct the reader straight to jw.org website. It is ironic that if Watchtower had misrepresented quoted sources, someone sending a reader to look up jw.org is ignorant when a context of misrepresented source won't be found on jw.org and neither will jw.org have an explanation why they've done it.

The few JWs who may actually be honest hearted and not afraid of the real truth, what kind of reference/information would you require to honestly examine and compare Watchtower publication rquote(s) with external source?

    Example.

Watchtowers of Oct 1 and Nov 1, 2011 - misrepresented, misinterpreted and misapplied cuneiform sources and misrepresented, misinterpreted and misapplied cuneiform sources (critiques http://kristenfrihet.se/vtsvar/vtsvar1.pdf,http://...

While most JWs will claim the author of the critique is biased or underhanded or any number of reasons they come up without actually even reading the critique, what would it take for you as a Witness to either read the material, meditate on what you read and maybe do your own personal research by going to public library or a museum to find actual quoted sources and examine it independently. Or even contact the authors of some of the misquoted sources and discuss it with them?

I understand that independent research outside of Watchtower publications is very strongly discouraged but what would it take for you to test the truth and see that it is what it claims to be.

"I know it's the truth because I've been a JW for .... years" is often used by people who are too lazy to research on their own and leave the thinking to strangers (GB) they've never met or known personally. Or does the hope of everlasting life override any logic or care as to testing the written word found in Watchtower publications?

  • Jehovah's Witnesses, can you name Babylonian kings?

Jehovah's Witnesses teach that Jerusalem fell in 607BC to Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar in his 18/19 year.

I am looking for a Jehovah's Witness to name all the Babylonian kings who ruled during that period with their regnal lengths and corresponding calendar years. Count backwards and obviously start with 539BC when Cyrus conquered Babylon. Use a references from Watchtower to support each king, the lengths and calendar years used.

Make it simple, and easy for readers to see, no need of going into special calculations or special formulas. JWs claim to love research and this only involves their own publications, how easy is that!

    example:

    Nabonidus, 17 years, (539BC to 556BC). reference it-2 p. 457 Nabonidus

    That simple

  • Jehovah's Witnesses, would you leave your spouse if?

If your spouse researched and came to their own personal conclusion that Watchtower was a fraud and according to Watchtower term your spouse became an apostate* would you leave your spouse simply on the basis your spouse left the Watchtower faith?

*Apostate - term according to Watchtower is someone who leaves Watchtower organization and is in opposition to Watchtower and it's teachings. May become follower of another faith or an atheist. May be active or inactive in opposition to Watchtower and its teaching.

  • Jehovah's Witnesses, did you see Governing Body preach?

Has anyone actually seen Governing Body members preach door to door? I mean with their own eyes not through the grave vine rumor, not in the picture in a publication, not heard it from a friend of a friend.

Bethalite rumors have it they don't go out. One of two have been confirmed to have gone out that I know of but at present there are 8, and over the years many have died so lets see some experiences of real Governing Body members out in service.

  • Does Jehovah is live in Pleiades constellation?

  • What's the best way to stop Jehovah's Witnesses from calling you again?

Many people get called on by JWs and don't know how to respond and don't want to be rude. Many reply to JWs that they are busy or not interested. Some will slam their doors or say they have their own religion.

JWs just mark that on their slips, that they've called on you and the next time they do the area they come back calling on you AGAIN! How many people wish they could stop this nuisance?

The best answer I've found is to tell them to put your home on Do Not Call List, this causes them to mark your home as Do Not Call and when they work the area they simply skip your home :)

Is there any other good ways of stopping JWs from calling on your home?

  • Why do Jehovah's Witnesses claim that "opposers" or ExJW are liars.?

I would like to know why Jehovah's Witnesses claim that all "opposers" including ex-members are said to be liars.

State the falsehood that opposers make regards to Watchtower or your beliefs and use references to back up your claims and none of this "I'm a witness so I know better."

For references always include publication name, year and page number.

I often read Witnesses make simple claim that opposers are liars without ever seeing Witnesses give any support to that claim so here is your opportunity.

  • 01 Honda Accord 2.3L with acceleration problem?

I'm trying to find out what the problem might be with my brothers' accord. It has 120,000 km on it and it's a coupe model. The acceleration is HORRIBLE on it. We got it to 180km/h but that took forever so the engine can push that fast. For a V-Tech engine something is majorly wrong and I guess we'll have to take it in to see what's wrong as driving is fine as long as you don't want to take a risk of passing someone on a 2 lane highway as that might just be too stressful to try - or you can try and hope you don't have a head on collision ;( That's how bad the acceleration is.

Has anyone had similar problem or any ideas what that problem might be??? Thanks
