  • does my landlord need my SSN?

My family has lived in our current house for 5 years. We're about to sign a lease for the next 12 months. Landlord is now requesting that we submit date of birth, full name, and social security numbers for every family member who lives here. Does anyone know about Hawaii rental law, and if we need to provide this? I don't want to think he could be up to funny business, but why is he requesting this sensitive info, this late in the game - after we've lived here 5 years already? We've never had any problems with timely payment of rent.

  • Can you carry hot water in a Coleman jug?

I have a Coleman brand water jug just like this one: http://www.coleman.com/coleman/colemancom/detail.a... , except mine is the 1/2 gallon capacity. My question is, since it's made of plastic-type material, is it ok to use to carry hot water? Like to take a jug of hot water on a picnic for making tea or instant coffee. I've only ever used this jug for iced beverages. When I googled, I couldn't find any info about this, or info on the Coleman site. So has anyone used it like this? Thanks for your help!

  • Garlic Broccoli ingredient...?

I love the garlic broccoli that I can order at Chinese restaurants. But when I try to make some at home, it doesn’t taste quite right. I use fresh broccoli florets, plenty of minced garlic, some chicken broth with a little oyster sauce, and just enough cornstarch to make the sauce thick. I’ve tried out a few online recipes…does anyone have an ingredient suggestion to add that missing flavor?
