CA salmon fishing - follow up to prior question?
I wanted to clarify an answer I had provided previously on CA salmon fishing.
Salmon fishing throughout CA is NOT closed. It is only closed in ocean waters as regulated by DFG and FGC. Currently, you cannot target salmon in those waters.
Salmon fishing in anadromous rivers is NOT closed. You can target salmom; however, you cannot keep salmon. It is currently a "catch and release" only fishery. In certain parts of the state rivers (ie. upper Sacramento, Klammath, etc.) take was allowed, under certain provisions and/or only during designated times. DFG has urged people not to target salmon in these water ways - if too much targeting is witnessed, then DFG/FGC may push to have all fishing shut down in those systems.
Fishing for landlocked salmon is NOT closed. (ie. Folsom Lake, CA) Landlocked salmon fisheries are not closed, and do not have the same regulations and catch provisions as the other waters.
In the previous answer, I was only referring to salmon fishing in rivers - not the ocean. Sorry for the confusion. (I know my regs well, but I apparently didn't explain my answer well enough.....)
3 AnswersFishing1 decade agoDanCraft (FT? or V?) vs. GL3 vs. RX7?
Ok, if you don't know what the three things in the question are refering to, then you probably shouldn't answer this one...
I'm about to start building a float rod, and I've been taking a look at some blanks. I have not, myself, built on either a DanCraft or a rainshadow rx7 blank. I do own rainshadows and have built on another blank material from batson. I have built on a GL3.
I'm looking for a moderate, or moderate slow action in a rod that's going to handle something around 4-8lb line. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with DanCraft, whether it be fishing a built rod or building your own. I was hoping to get some comparison between the three blank types listed - mainly strength, sensitivity, and true action of the blank.
I'm going to be using a blank, depending on what I go with, that's in the 11ft 6in range.
2 AnswersFishing1 decade agoDoes any Obama supporter actually know what the term Socialism means?
I just don't understand why people can't come to grips with certain things. Stating someone has socialist views isn't opinion if you know what it means. If you want to argue the point, then please pick up a dictionary first (or a copy of the Manifesto?? - if you have to look that up too, then please DON"T respond - GEEZ!!).
It's not like there hasn't already been a president in this country that's been touted as having similar ideas. (Granted, he was almost run out of office....whatever.) However, this is the first time those ideas have been this close to the IDEALS of socialistic government.
Why is it that people cannot accept FACTS. If a person believes that blacks or whites are inferior, and hates them because they are the color they are, they are racist, right? If a person tells a lie, they are a liar, right? If a person upholds and endorses ideas that are founded in the roots of socialism, then they, in turn, are socialist. It doesn't meant that EVERYTHING about them is, only what they uphold.
It would be so much better for the nation if people would begin to strive for understanding instead of jumping at the chance to show off their elitist ability to argue points that aren't argueable! YIKES - it's like telling me there's another answer to "2+2" !!!
14 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhat makes you qualified to answer questions about fishing?
I've noticed a lot of misinformation on here. It's frustrating since I'd like to see every question answered in a competent manner. I see answers where the information has been "copied and pasted" from some other place without citing it to make them look smart, or answers where someone blurts out information when they really aren't all that knowledgeable about fishing. For example, if you think a Shakespeare Ugly Stik is a "higher end" rod, then obviously you haven't fished with a G Loomis, Rainshadow, Lamiglas, St. Croix, etc...... There are so many rods that will eclipse an Ugly Stik 5 times over; it's ridiculous.
Why is it that people feel like they need to APPEAR as if they know what they're talking about? You're not doing anyone else justice here. And you're certainly not helping the person who asked the question have a better fishing experience when you give a crappy, unfounded answer.
Leave the answering to those who ACTUALLY know what they're talking about.
17 AnswersFishing1 decade agoWhat is your favorite/best reel (either baitcast or spinning)? Why?
I have lots of rods and reels, but like any "good" fisherman, I'm always looking for the next addition to my collection. I'm just wondering what reels you prefer and why.
I mainly fish spinning setups, but I have a number of both baitcasters and spinning reels. I suppose I'm more interested in spinning though.....
7 AnswersFishing1 decade agoIf one religion "borrows" a figure from another religion, then becomes violent toward that same religion...?
Just curious how it's logical that Islam can "borrow" an archangel from Catholicism/Christianity to use as a significant messenger from God, then proceed to say that same God would tell them it's okay to kill Christians...?
