  • Can I use Pentax lenses on a Nikon?

    I have an an old Pentax K1000 and an old Nikon Nikkormat FT2. The Pentax no longer works, and I'm wondering if I can convert the Pentax lenses (there is a Prospec 28-70 mm and a Prospec 80-200 mm) to work on the Nikon.

    Also, if I were to be able to get the Pentax lenses to work on the old film Nikon SLR, would I also be able to get them to work on a new Nikon DSLR?

  • How did the film disappear from the canister?

    Hi,

    So... this has happened twice. Upon opening a canister of 35mm black and white film in the film loading room, I have found nothing but a torn piece of film approximately 3-4 inches long. The rest of the film is nowhere to be found.

    Is this just a problem with the canister? The part of the film that should be connected to the inside of the canister is just gone. Is this a problem with the film itself, a problem with something I'm doing (I'm doing things the way I should be... and I'm doing them the same every time) or is my film loading room just haunted?

    Thanks!

  • What colleges do I stand a chance of getting into?

    Hi,

    I'm wondering what colleges I actually stand a chance of getting into. I have a list of colleges I'm interested in, but I'm not sure if I really have a chance of getting into them.

    I live in Athens, Ohio, which is a rural Appalachian community that is home to Ohio University. I am thinking about going into Film/Television studies, Political Science, or something related to Sociology (Interest in that order).

    My grades are not fantastic (I only have a GPA of 3.3), but I have taken a fairly heavy AP course load, and I have even signed up for a large AP course load my senior year. My ACT is a 31, and my SAT is a 1970 (640 Math, 630 Critical Reading, and 700 Writing). I'm retaking the SAT in the hopes of bringing up those scores.

    I have been very involved in my high school's drama club (holding officer positions for two years), and am also a member of many other school clubs, the Spanish National Honors Society, and the National Honors Society.

    My financial situation is not great (under $50k combined income of both my parents), but my dad does work for Ohio University, so I have a tuition waiver there.

    My first choice for a school is thus Ohio University, as a result of the free tuition. I'm also under the impression that it has very good programs in all of my areas of academic interests.

    However, I would like to be able to go to a university away from Athens, and with a more prestigious name, assuming I can get in.

    Other schools I have looked at:

    - Columbia University in the City of New York

    - New York University

    - University of Southern California

    - University of California in Los Angeles

    - University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

    There may also be other schools that I should consider applying to that I don't know about yet.

    Can anyone offer me any help?

  • Lewis Structure help?

    I have a question about Lewis Structures. I'm wondering why the lewis structure for ClO3(-) is this:

    :Ö:

    |

    :Cl — Ö:

    | ¨

    :O:

    ¨

    and a resonance structure for this:

    :Ö:

    |

    Cl == Ö

    | ¨

    :O:

    ¨

    Both satisfy the octet rule, but why does one work and the other does not?

  • How do I find who hacked my website?

    I'm a webmaster for the website for my high school drama club and my high school newspaper. They are both hosted by the same company (HostMonster) and are on the same account. The website for the newspaper is simply an add-on domain.

    Yesterday, I received notification that the website for the drama club (which receives substantially more traffic than the one for the school's newspaper) had been changed to a white page. I went there, viewed the source code, and found several incorrectly formatted links for cheap prescription pills. I then checked the newspaper's website, and found that it had the same issue. Other sites for which I am webmaster but that are hosted with different providers were not hacked, and on the two sites that were, only the index.html files were altered. All other pages remained intact.

    When I did a get-info command on the index.html file for the school newspaper's website in my FTP client (Fetch), I discovered that the file had last been modified at 9:44 AM yesterday.

    I'm wondering — is there any way to figure out (obviously not through Fetch) who logged into the website via FTP at that point in time and made the change to the file so that this crime can be reported to the proper authorities?

    Thanks, and sorry for such a long question. You never know how much detail is necessary for set-up, and I've found that I never really give enough.

  • Why won't the Weather on my Website widget display correctly in Dreamweaver?

    Hi Yahoo Answers community! I've got a little question for you. I have signed up for an account at Weather.com

    The following code is given:

    <div id="wx_module_5849">

    <a href="http://www.weather.com/weather/local/45701%22%3EAt... Weather Forecast, OH (45701)</a>

    </div>

    <script type="text/javascript">

    /* Locations can be edited manually by updating 'wx_locID' below. Please also update */

    /* the location name and link in the above div (wx_module) to reflect any changes made. */

    var wx_locID = '45701';

    /* If you are editing locations manually and are adding multiple modules to one page, each */

    /* module must have a unique div id. Please append a unique # to the div above, as well */

    /* as the one referenced just below. If you use the builder to create individual modules */

    /* you will not need to edit these parameters. */

    var wx_targetDiv = 'wx_module_5849';

    /* Please do not change the configuration value [wx_config] manually - your module */

    /* will no longer function if you do. If at any time you wish to modify this */

    /* configuration please use the graphical configuration tool found at */

    /* https://registration.weather.com/ursa/wow/step2 */

    var wx_config='SZ=180x150*WX=FHW*LNK=SSNL*UNT=F*BGI=seasonal2*MAP=null|null*DN=ahsmatrix.com*TIER=0*PID=1077439400*MD5=493554ce50ff037b7b6a0ed48acbdbc6';

    document.write('<scr'+'ipt src="'+document.location.protocol+'//wow.weather.com/weather/wow/module/'+wx_locID+'?config='+wx_config+'&proto='+document.location.protocol+'&target='+wx_targetDiv+'"></scr'+'ipt>');

    </script>

    But all that shows up is the link in the href code. Any idea why?

    (Yes, I am aware that Yahoo doesn't display the code correctly. I think that what's given is enough to give you an idea as to why things aren't working. Still, if you feel that you need to have the whole code to determine the problem, send me an email at <isaac@ahsmatrix.com> and I'll forward weather.com's email to you. Thanks!)

  • What coding languages should I learn to create a social networking website?

    I know, I know. It's overdone. Everybody wants to create a social networking website today, and Facebook and Myspace will never stop being popular. Nonetheless, I'd like to create my own. I don't want to go to a site like Ning — that's too much like a Facebook group, and I feel constricted.

    I'm looking to start from scratch here, actually. I own Adobe CS3, and know some basic HTML, but I know that's not anywhere near enough to create the dynamic pages required for a social networking website. The premise of the website is as follows:

    A person plans on going to a concert. They already have tickets/plan on purchasing tickets from the website. If they already have tickets, they choose the venue, band, date, etc. and the website shows them where they sit, and if any other registered members are sitting near them. The visitor also has the ability to buy tickets through the website (that's a future feature, and yes I understand that it will take a lot of work), and after purchasing the tickets, it shows them where they're sitting and other registered members, etc.

    Mostly, the point of the website is to show people where they're sitting at concerts, with the whole social networking aspect being an optional feature.

    We already have a domain name registered with Globat.com.

    Any tips for how to continue?

    Thanks.

  • What is the difference between a Sheriff and a County Police officer?

    My question may be stupid, but in light of the recent bad PR of the Prince George's County Police Department, I'm wondering what the difference is between a County Police Department and the Sheriff's Department, if any. From what I've read, it seems that there is a difference, because (at least in Ohio) the Sheriff's Department would not have had jurisdiction to make that arrest, since it wasn't in a rural area without a police department. But, Prince George's County is much more populated than Southeastern Ohio, and is in an entirely different state.

  • Is it possible to impersonate an entity?

    This is a very language related question, having to do with exact meanings, word origins, and connotations of the above words. Is it possible to impersonate an entity? Does the word "impersonate" imply pretending to be a person, which an entity is not necessarily? Also, what does and does not count as an entity? Would something like a printer or a cat count as an entity? Would one be able to impersonate those things?
