  • What short haircuts/styles do men like best on women?

I have a sort of pixie cut but I'd like to try something different. What looks cute?

  • What do guys think of arm hair on girls?

I have very light blonde hair on my arms. It isn't thick or course, but there is a decent amount. I never thought anything of it until a friend of mine offered to wax it off. Is arm hair a turn-off, or does it really depend? Is waxing your arms weird?

  • Which My Little Pony episode is a good one to start with?

I want to start watching MLP, so I'm looking for an exciting episode to get me interested before I start at the beginning. Is there an ongoing plot, or stand-alone episodes?

  • What exercises are good when you have a cold?

I have to take some time off due to a cold, but I normally exercise a lot everyday. What can I do that's not strenuous, but will help me feel like I'm not being too lazy? I was thinking beginner's yoga? Also, I have an exercise ball dvd that I haven't tried yet.

  • Which protein powder is better for high activity/weight loss? Soy or whey?

I'm getting ready for a boxing match, meaning I need enough energy to continue working out 2-3 hours a day, but I also need to lose a little bit of weight over the next month.

Right now, I take whey protein after workouts, since I've heard it digests quickly, but I saw a good deal on soy protein isolate. The soy has nothing else in it, basically 90% pure protein, while the whey has sugar and chocolate flavour.

What are the pros and cons of each? Could I use the soy in conjunction with whey, or choose one or the other? I've heard great stuff about whey, but would soy be better in this case since it's not full of carbs?

I eat a very healthy diet, I just don't want my weight loss to be hindered by chocolate flavors.

  • Is there a healthier version of the "Master Cleanse"?

Would I be able to alter the master cleanse a bit to incorporate light, healthy meals so its not so harsh? I'm very active, and need the energy from calories and protein, but I'm having trouble losing weight.

Also, the cleanse calls for a drink made with lemon, cayenne, and maple syrup, but is there anything I can substitute for maple syrup? I don't have the money for that stuff.

I'd really like to lose 10 lbs of just fat (no water weight loss) by mid-June. If it helps, I'm 5' 6" and 157lbs, but quite fit.

  • What's this hard lump just under my ear?

Two days ago, I noticed a hard, roughly nickel-sized lump just under and in front of my ear. It doesn't move, and is not quite round (longer in up-and-down direction). It's sore to touch, but otherwise just feels like a bit of pressure or tightness.

Also, I do mma and boxing, so I'm not sure if it's injury-related. I can't recall any particularly painful blows, but then again I've broken my foot before and not realized until much later.

It's friday afternoon, so if I go right now, I can see a doctor. Otherwise, it would have to wait until monday.

  • How can I get a bruise on my face to fade faster?

I box, and yesterday while sparring, I took a good left hook to the side of the nose. Now there's some redness and a bit of bruising.

Is there a way I can speed up the healing process so it'll be faded by monday? I have a presentation, and don't want people to assume the worst.

I've tried concealer, but it tends to look a little flaky on my nose.

  • Did I buy the wrong hand wraps for boxing?

I just started attending boxing lessons, and bought some Everlast 108" hand wraps. However, I've been reading everywhere that these are too short, and therefore no good. They already feel a little bulky, maybe because my hands aren't that big. But could that be because I'm wrapping too tight?

Should I go back and buy longer, better ones? I'm on a very tight budget. The 108" wraps were $6, and longer ones are double that.

  • How can I get real beach-hair?

I keep reading about how to fake beachy waves in your hair, but I'm lucky enough to live near a beach. I also have lots of free time, so how can I get the look without buying products? I have mousse, if needed.

Does the look come from getting your hair wet in the ocean? Or is it the wind?

  • How can I get in better shape in 3 weeks?

In 3 weeks' time, I will be going on a 4 day kayaking trip, then joining a boxing club. I would like to be able to get into good enough shape to do both. I'm not sure what type of fitness is required for each. I would like to lose some weight, although that's not my main focus.

I have easy access to a pool, weight room, stationary bicycle, rowing machine, and jogging trails. Although I don't have running shoes, I hear barefoot running is becoming popular. I eat at a university cafeteria, so I have limited choice when it comes to food.

How can I exercise and eat to become fit enough to kayak and box in 3 weeks?

  • Is there anything I should keep in mind when I take up kickboxing?

I'm going to attend a drop-in session at a kickboxing school, and then maybe sign up for regular classes. I did two years of kung fu, and there are some similarities, but I know it will be different.

    What should I wear?

If they train some people who compete, will they be more serious than the family-oriented kung fu place I used to attend?

Should I try to get into better shape before I start classes?

Any other tips or things I should expect?

  • What's the best way to deal with my period on a camping trip?

I'm going on a four day kayak trip to an uninhabited area. The trip might coincide with my period, so how can I deal with that while being super discreet? I'm going with my dad and brother. Tampons usually don't cut it for me, but pads are too much packaging for me to want to pack out with me. I'm trying to be as environmentally friendly as possible, since there will be no toilets, no garbage cans, and limited fresh water for hygiene.

  • What should I do if I inhaled hydrogen chloride gas?

In a chemistry lab, I inhaled a mouthful of HCl gas from a pressurized cylinder as the TA adjusted the valve. I choked on it, but after drinking water and getting fresh air, felt a little better. I talked to the senior lab instructor who said I was probably ok, but should go to the hospital if I get blisters in my throat.

7 hours later, my throat burns a little and feels a bit tight, but I have no reason to believe there are blisters. I'm feeling rather anxious and my arms are a bit cold, weak and shaky. Is this due to the inhalation, or just because it was rather traumatic? I'm also salivating a lot. Should I go see a doctor tomorrow morning, or see how I'm feeling? I have no way to get to the hospital (it's 9pm and buses won't be running by the time I get out) short of calling an ambulance, but I don't believie it's serious enough for that to be necessary.

If I really need to do so, I could phone campus security (I live in university dorms) since they have paramedics, or health service's 24 hour line.

  • What can I do about a sore rib?

One of my ribs is painful to the touch and when I breathe deeply. It feels like it sticks out a little more than my other ribs, even enough to be visible in the mirror. I don't know how I could have hurt it really, except that I did a bunch of crunches the other day. Is there anything I can do?

  • How can I prank my friend at university?

I'm an RA in a building, and my fellow RA deserves pranking. It's difficult (but not impossible) for me to find a way into his room, so does anyone have ideas of pranks to play if the door is locked? I've already put glitter under his door. He also has his own bathroom, but hard to get into.

  • How can I take scary photographs?

Is there a website with a guide on taking spooky photos? I have a digital camera and would like to photograph some scenes to make them look haunted. Also, I live in a Victoria style house built 100 years ago, which would be great for scary pictures just in time for halloween.

  • How can prepared acorn meal be eaten?

I've seen pancake recipes using prepared acorn meal, but is there a simpler way for me to do that, maybe using pre-made pancake mix? I live in a dorm room so it's impractical for me to be buying flour, baking powder, etc.

Also, what other kinds of wild plants can I eat in the area? I live in the northwest, near the beach and a forest. I have access to a kettle, toaster, microwave, toaster oven, fridge, freezer, and pancake maker.

  • How can I comfort my friend going into dental surgery?

I'm driving my friend to the dentist tomorrow to get her wisdom teeth reomved. I know she's really nervous, and I'm also quite squeamish about teeth. How can I comfort her and be there for her in a subtle way? I don't think she'd like me bringing it up too much or telling her it's ok.

  • Can I burn music onto a dvd so that it'll play in a CD player?

I bought a bunch of discs, but didn't look closely and they ended up being dvds. I have a dvd/cd burner, but can I burn the music on so that it'll play on a CD player? I tried to burn it from iTunes but it just says it's dvd format.
