  • Restored PC via "Recover" partition, but still lag, should I restore from discs?

Ok long story short, my wife's 4 year old Vista based consumer Dell PC was REALLY lagging sputtering, taking forever to do anything, whether local tasks like loading music and pictures and programs, to online browsing loading web pages, and temporarily freezing pages, etc. No viruses or anything of that nature.

I ended spending hours transferring all the files, pics and documents over to my laptop and restoring her PC to factory default from the recovery partition. That helped for about two days, then it was back to it's old tricks.

Will completely wiping the hard rive and restoring from the factory windows disks (which I still have) make any difference than restoring from the recovery partition? or perhaps is the hard drive somehow corrupted and time for a new PC?

    Thanks

  • Facebook "Interested in" setting?

Ok, what does this setting mean? If it's about your lifestyle, why not just ask if you are "Straight" Bi" or "Gay?".

My boyfriend just got a facebook account a few weeks ago and since I don't have one and have no desire to get one, while I was at my friends I looked up his facebook, for no other reason then to see what it's all about. Anyway, his was set to "interested in women". I freaked! WTF I thought.

Now he says her daughter set it up for her (which I know she did) and that her daughter told him it just indicates whether you are straight or bi or gay and setting it to "interested in women" just means you're straight. His other daughter said the same thing. Ok, fine, No bigge, right?... but! . if that's the case how come his daughters facebook profiles, who are both in relationships, don't have that information on it at all? Why would his daughter bother to fill out that info for her father and not herself? Seems strange but maybe I'm overreacting.

So what is it? Does it reflect that he's straight or does it mean he's looking to meet women?

  • Firefox: Bookmarks showing in Location Bar?

Ok, here we go. I have the latest version of Firefox.

In order to prevent bookmarks from showing in your "awesome" bar or "amazing" bar (or whatever they call it now) when you type you simply go to tools/options/privacy/location bar and pick what you want or don't want Firefox to suggest in the location bar. Simple right?

    Choices:

    Show history and bookmarks

    Show History

    Show Nothing

I set it to show "history" only. Yet is still shows my bookmarks and it's driving me insane! No matter what I do, i.e. clear cache, restart Firefox, restart my PC, etc., bookmark suggestions just keep appearing. What am I doing wrong??????????????

  • Why is my hotmail account still active?

I haven't signed in to my old hotmail account in over two years because I forgot my password. Hot mail says they delete inactive accounts after so many days (90 or 120 or 210). I can still go through the retrieve my password steps and it asks me my location, zip and secret question (which I forget the answer to!). I really don't need to access the account but I'm just wondering why it's still active after over two years of non use.
