Facebook "Interested in" setting?

Ok, what does this setting mean? If it's about your lifestyle, why not just ask if you are "Straight" Bi" or "Gay?".

My boyfriend just got a facebook account a few weeks ago and since I don't have one and have no desire to get one, while I was at my friends I looked up his facebook, for no other reason then to see what it's all about. Anyway, his was set to "interested in women". I freaked! WTF I thought.

Now he says her daughter set it up for her (which I know she did) and that her daughter told him it just indicates whether you are straight or bi or gay and setting it to "interested in women" just means you're straight. His other daughter said the same thing. Ok, fine, No bigge, right?... but! . if that's the case how come his daughters facebook profiles, who are both in relationships, don't have that information on it at all? Why would his daughter bother to fill out that info for her father and not herself? Seems strange but maybe I'm overreacting.

So what is it? Does it reflect that he's straight or does it mean he's looking to meet women?

Update:

Thanks, but what would be the point of hiding it if no one can see it?

That really does not mean that he is looking for other women. That's basically asking what sexual orientation you are. There is another section that says "looking for" and if it said "a relationship" or "random play" then yes he should probably change that. It's nothing to worry about. The girls probably have some of their information hidden to people that are not their friends or something

It is a "lifestyle" thing, and by default that information is shown, but you can hide it, so that is why. His page isn't configured to hide the information.
