  • What makes you absolutely certain that God exists/ doesn't exist?

Firstly, I would like to point out that I consider myself agnostic, but leaning towards the atheist end of the spectrum. So I can't say for sure whether I believe that 'God' exists or not, but I am more inclined to believe that he/she/it doesn't.

Now, I am not claiming to know either of the following groups perspectives all that well (hence the question) but I will do my best to sum up what they seem to believe from my perspective. There appear to be two very vocal groups: believers and atheists.

Believers believe in God with absolute certainty. They cite "faith" and religious texts as evidence, despite neither providing absolute certainty in our day to day lives. I would not base my entire world view on something I trusted in and I would certainly not believe that texts which are hundreds if not thousands of years old are as accurate as modern news reports (even many of those are questionable).

Then there are atheists, who cite a "lack of evidence" to justify their conclusion that God definitely does not exist. What I would say to these people is that the question has a significant philosophical dimension that many atheists ignore. Furthermore, our scientific knowledge is so premature (just look at all of the things we've learned about the world in the past few decades) that we cannot possible know that we might fall upon scientific evidence for God's existence one day.

Contributions from both camps or agnostics welcome.

  • Where is the best place to look for jobs for a sixth former who wants part-time work after school and weekend?

I am in sixth form and I really need extra money so that I can start to drive. I've looked in the local area but can't find anyone who is employing at the moment. I don't really care what the quality of the job is, I just want something that will give me at least minimum wage and a good few hours over the weekend and maybe after school. Does anyone know where I could go to look or any good websites for finding part time work? Everything I have tried so far (jobcentreplus, ringing local businesses) has failed.

  • Where can I buy a scooter the cheapest and what type of scooter is best for a 17 year old?

I am in sixth form and I really need a more convenient way of getting to and from school that the stupid us service I am having to rely on at the moment. I thought about driving but I don't really see the point in that at the moment because I cannot find a job anywhere so I would not have enough money for lessons or buying or running a car. I think that the best option is to get a scooter as they seem to be cheap to buy and on fuel. Also, the testing seems easy and cheap. Am I right on this

? And where is the best place to look for a scooter? All help appreciated.

  • How to stop videos playing automatically on my internet browser?

I use Google Chrome internet browser and I frequently use a mobile broadband dongle. I want to be able to stop videos automatically playing (this always happens on sites like Bebo and Sky News) because it uses a lot of data and sometimes I don't even notice.

    Would really appreciate any help.

  • What is the best way to upgrade your level on the game Borderlands?

I am in the Arid Hills and I am currently level 10. However, there are the green Skags and the Fiery Badass Skags everywhere and my weapons are ineffective against them. I have no missions to go back and do because I have done them all so I was wondering what I could do to upgrade my level or get better guns in order to beat these animals!!

    P.S. I am playing on Co-Op

  • South Wales Argus archives - any help appreciated!!?

My dad was featured in an article in the South Wales Argus in 1973 when he saved two children from a burning house on Chepstow road. There was a page with a photo of him being presented with a certificate from the Major of Newport, and also his friend. We would like to know if anybody knows how we can get hold of the newspapers from this time (we think it may have been in October) whether on the internet or by any other means. We have checked on the South Wales Argus website but they only date back to 2001. Any help will be very much appreciated, thank you!
