  • Advice about a Cat that adopted us?

Not looking for nasty responses please.

Two days after we moved into our home, a cat showed up. We've been here now for 3 months, the cat is still with us. The cat was obviously an outdoor cat as he/she is a great mouser and prefers to live in our barn with the horse. We are just now getting to where he OR she will let us pick him/her up without biting or clawing us to death. I thought the cat was a male, however Now I'm believing it's a female. We are still unable to get the cat picked up long enough to check, however he is very friendly as long as his/her feet are on the ground.

anyway, my concern is now that the cat has appeared to gain a considerable amount of weight (no food changes) within the last few days and I'm really thinking he is now a she and she is pregnant. She will not leave the barn now and when I lock up my horse, the cat stays inside. I set up a litter box and wooden box for her with straw and a pillow that she took a liking too. But it's getting cold out (18 degrees tonight) and Im worried that if she is pregnant it will be too cold for her to even be in the barn and I certainly don't want helpless newborn kittens out in the cold. I want to bring her in the house, but also have three dogs that have never been around cats, and two birds. Any ideas how I can successfully accomplish this, or should I just leave her in the barn where she seems to be comfortable?

  • What are some good snacks for horses, and other question?

I have a pony, 14 hands and I believe he may have halflinger in him. He loves Apples the most, but also eats carrots and pears and corn for snacks. I am wondering what other kinds of treats horses perfer that are safe for them to eat. Is there anything that is a big no no for treats? Also, I was interested in possibly making my own horse feed but want to make sure all the necessary ingredients are included such as vitamins and was wondering if anyone knew how to do this, or what all would be needed for this?

any helpful answers would be greatly appreciated

  • Which food is best for a Great Dane?

We are going to be adopting a great dane puppy and know that it needs to be on a premium dog food. I've been checking out the different brands online that were recommended by a dane breeder and don't know which one I should chose. Any suggestion on what you think is best and why? Our recommendations were Innova, pinnacle, Natures Best, Iams.
