  • What does it mean when the doctor says the heart has stiffened?

My husband has high blood pressure and was experiencing swelling of the ankles and feet. His doctor prescribed Lasix to rid his body of extra fluid and referred him to a kidney specialist.

He saw the specialist yesterday and the doctor told him his heart had stiffened. He said to stay away from salt and come back in 2 weeks.

If he stays away from salt, can this be corrected? Also, is there anything else we can do during this two week period before he sees the doctor again?

  • What is a unique name for a male Bassett hound?

I just got a Bassett hound puppy and am having trouble giving him a name. My kids have been calling him Charlie and I think I like it. My only problem is that the AKC will not accept it because it is not unique. I tried Charlie Brown (he is brown and white) but that wasn't accepted either. Suggestions???

My daughter has just completed the first grade and will soon be 7 years old. She absolutely loves to read and has read over and over all the children's books that we have in our home. • anyone had a cervical cerclage and a successful pregnancy.?

My cousin is 10 weeks pregnant and had a cervical cerclage done this morning. She has lost 2 babies at 20 weeks pregnant. We are hoping she can carry this pregnancy long enough for the baby to be viable. They do not have any living children. She will be on bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy. Has anyone else been through this and what was the outcome? I am very worried.

  • Any suggestions on how I can dilate faster?

I am almost 38 weeks pregnant and was having contractions 2 minutes apart last night in the ER. I am already dilated to a 3. They decided to keep me overnight but released me this morning because the contractions stopped and I am still a 3. My doctor said if I was 4cm they would go ahead and break my water. What can I do to get to a 4 and quickly. I want to have my baby today!

  • When will I have my baby?

I am 36 weeks 3 days pregnant. We are not sure if this is exact because I don't have a last menstrual period to go by. I found out I was pregnant again just 4 weeks after a miscarriage and I had no period in between. We are calculating my due date by ultrasound and it is August 3rd.

I have been having a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions every day but nothing consistent. My doctor checked me today and this is what he said: I am a loose 1 almost 2 cm. My cervix is still thick but soft. This is my 3rd child so things could progress quickly. I am to go back and be checked again in 1 week.

My question is: When do you think I will have my baby and what can I do to speed things up. I have heard of the caster oil thing but am NOT doing that. Any other suggestions or experiences would be appreciated.

  • question about preterm labor?

I am 29 weeks 3 days pregnant. I have been feeling a lot of cramps and pressure down below. Does this mean that I am starting to dilate? And if so does it mean my baby will be born too early. I had a doctor appointment yesterday and I told him about the pressure and all but he didn't even check me. I am so worried. This is my third child but I didn't feel like this with the other two. I have also had 2 miscarriages so this is my 5th pregnancy.

  • I don't understand why my question was deleted?

Yesterday I posted this on Y/A. I said that I had my 20 week anatomy scan and it's a girl. I was excited! What can I say? I know it wasn't really a question but I have seen everyone else post when they get their BFP. Anyway, when I pulled up my email this morning it said my question violated yahoo guidelines and was deleted. Does anyone know why that might be?

  • Is lower back pain normal in early pregnancy?

I am 4 weeks pregnant and my lower back is killing me. I didn't have this pain with my first two children but I did with my last pregnancy and I had a miscarriage. I don't know if it's related. I have been having this dull ache in my lower back for about 2 weeks. Even before I knew I was pregnant. I will ask my doctor about it Monday but has anyone else experienced this and what was the outcome? I don't want another miscarriage.

  • OMG! BFP!!! Can it be?

Okay It has been 4 weeks since my miscarriage and I took a First Response Pregnancy test on Monday and it was BFN. Well, I have been real moody this week and thought I would start AF today. I didn't so I took an ept certainty digital test today and it says (POSITIVE) Could I be pregnant or is it left over hormones from the last pregnancy that just didn't show on the other brand of test. Any suggestions?

  • help me ladies! I want a baby!?

I had a miscarriage on October 23 and my doctor said it was okay to try again because I didn't have a d&c. I am almost sure I ovulated 2 weeks after the miscarriage because I had the EWCM. Over the weekend I have been having some pregnancy symptoms. My breast are tender, I am bloated and gassy, and have been a little nauseated. Last night I dreamed I was holding my baby. I know this sounds corny but I thought it was a sign so I tested first thing this morning with a First Response HPT. And you guessed it......BFN! I am so sad and can't stop crying.

  • Can someone help me please?

Okay. Today marks 2 weeks since my miscarriage. I was almost positive that I was ovulating yesterday because I had the cramps in my side, aching down below and lots of stretchy cervical mucus (sorry TMI) So I thought I was ovulating and we baby danced last night. This morning I took an OPK to see if I was indeed ovulating and it was negative. Then I found a pregnancy test in the box so I took it just to see if the HCG from my miscarriage was still in my system and sure enough the test was positive. Now I know a new pregnancy couldn't possibly show up this soon so my question is could I have ovulated yesterday even with HCG still in my system or is it possible that I am about to ovulate in the next day or so? Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am so depressed. I would have been 10 weeks today :(
