  • Bacteria reproduction question?

A cocci bacterium with a radius of 1 Um (1/1000 of a mm) divides every 20 minutes. How long will it take it to go from a single cell to a group of cells that has the same mass as the earth (6x10^24 kg)? The bacterium has the same density as water (1g/ml).

I'm completely lost here. It's not a test question but one of our study guide qs. The professor is kind of a dick so getting information out of him is impossible.

Please show me HOW you go it, the correct answer is not very helpful if I can't reproduce it on test day.

    Thanks!

  • How do you determine the energy associated with a wavelength of light?

I missed this question on my last exam and my professor is kind of difficult to deal with one on one, I am willing to trade 10 points for a detailed explanation of how to get to the answer:

An emission spectra from an element has a line at 460.nm, what energy is associated with that wavelength of light.

The correct answer was: 4.32x10^-19 J

    Thank you for your time.

  • Write as a single trig function.. can you please help?

I'm working on my practice exam and I've come to a problem that I can't figure out:

Write sin(pi/4)cosx + cos(pi/4)sinx as on trig function.

Any help would be appreciated and I'll return the favor with 10 points.

  • I have a GE Nautilus Dishwasher that was "winterized" before I purchased my condo now...?

It won't fill with water. I ran about 1/2 a cycle before I realized that I didn't have the water valve turned on. I turned it on and restarted the the dishwasher. Now a very small amount of water is going into the bottom. The machine sounds like it is making all the proper noises save for water going into it.

My GF mentioned that it had been "winterized" (whatever that means) and I was wondering 1: how does 1 de-winterize a dishwasher and 2: assuming it wasn't that does anyone have any ideas on the water issue. I.E. how do I get my dishwasher to fill up.

Thanks for any help in advance.
