I was born into a Catholic family but became an atheist when I was 9. I stayed that way for 3-4 years until I realized atheism was also a belief system. I then transitioned to agnosticism and was comfortable as an agnostic for about ten more years. In my mid-20s, I encountered "Eastern" mysticism. When I saw the critiques that demolished Judeo-Christian dogma, were irrelevant when applied to Hindu-Buddhist philosophies, I started to look more deeply . Hatha Yoga and a vegetarian diet healed my body, while Buddhist meditation techniques did wonders for my tendency to obsess. Encouraged by these successes, I got deeply involved in Asian spirituality for about a decade. During this time, I had many altered state experiences of various types. I ceased formal practice when my insight matured enough to realize that my real issues were not on the spiritual plane. I may go back to Zen someday as the end approaches. Meanwhile, I call myself a "Deist" if I have to label.

  • Video drivers for NVidea GeForce GTX 560 Ti?

I'm beginning to have some flakiness with my monitor display and before I go to all the hassle of bringing the comp into the shop, I want to see if updating the drivers will solve the prob. However, I neglected to update the drivers for my NVidea GeForce GTX 560 Ti since 2015 and apparently NVidea no longer offers updates compatible with Window 7. I checked the most common software download site but no joy there either.

Is there someplace I might still be able to find the drivers I'm looking for? The version I have installed now is 355.82 and the earliest available on the NVidea site is 388.13 (which I repeat doesn't work on Win7).

  • Region-free bluray players?

Anyone have a recommendation for a model and/or company that worked out well for them in the past three years?

  • Are bluray players innately UNRELIABLE?

My old bluray-dvd player (Panasonic DMP-BD85K) recently lost the capability to play blurays after serving me faithfully since 2010. It still plays dvds without any problem though.

Shopping for a new one on Amazon, I'm dismayed how many people have bad experiences with bluray players. I'm beginning to seriously question whether I want to risk getting a new one at all.

Is it the general feeling of experienced users that bluray players are LESS RELIABLE than the old dvd only machines were?

  • Bluray-DVD combo player can play dvds but not blurays?

Starting about four months ago, and gradually getting worse, I've had this issue in which my Bluray-DVD combo player can't read some (but not all) bluray disks. To make it stranger, the machine sometimes plays a bluray disk without problem the first time I watch it but if I put the disk in again, the machine can't read it. DVDs still play with no problems whatsoever.

The player is a Panasonic DMP-BD85 which I've had it since 5-7-2010, slightly more than nine years now.

The firmware is 1.64 which is up to date (or at least as up to date as this model can accept).

I suspect some vital component has simply worn out but any light anyone can shed would be appreciated

  • What postage is required for a single piece of mail in 2017?

I have to pay a doctor's bill by snailmail because their website is messed up and it's been so long since I've done anything by snailmail, I don't even know what the postage is anymore. I still have envelopes, and I think I have enough stamps on hand, but I'd like to know what I'm doing...

  • Yahoo Answers is okay with someone who advocates burning a presidential candidate alive?

This question has been up for FOUR DAYS:

"Should Trump and his family be tried for treason and burned alive publicly?"

  • On Yahoo News Comments, how do you identify specific posts so they can be reported to the authorities?

There's a lunatic on YNC who's repeatedly advocated violence against Donald Trump as well as against Trump supporters. This simply cannot be legal. The Yahell mods are, as usual, useless.

I'm ready to report him to the FBI but the problem is I can't see any way to specify either the posts or the poster. There is no visible identification code attached to either. What's the solution?

  • Turkish vs Cuban Coffee?

Degenerate caffeine fiend here looking to expand the horizons of my buzzzzzz. Specifically, what I want to know is how similar is the tech used in making Cuban coffee to the gadget used for Turkish, Greek and Arab coffee? Am I at least right that the T, G, and A variants are all made using the same equipment?

  • Can I read Amazon Kindle books on my desktop comp?

Can I download Kindle books to my desktop comp and read them on my desktop comp?

I'm asking because there's a couple of titles I want to read, that are only available as Kindle editions, but I don't want to splurge $200-300 on an e-reader that I doubt I will use very much.

  • Best way to get audio from my HD television to headphones?

New neighbors have moved in upstairs who have a baby and go to bed much earlier than I do. It's been communicated to me that my late-night movie viewing is bugging them out. I don't want a conflict with these people, nor do I want to hurt them, so I need a technical solution.

My tv (Panasonic Viera TC-P42S2) does not come equipped with headphones but it does have audio jacks in back. Any ideas?

  • Windows 7 installation disaster?

Yesterday I installed Win7 to my old XP comp. I saved all my files ahead of time as I wanted as I had advised a completely fresh installation was preferable. The machine rebooted repeatedly during the installation but I wasn't worried as several people had told me that would happen and it was normal.

But it WASN'T normal. The disk kept booting and rebooting, over and over, every 15 minutes, for app 14 hours, writing about 7 gigs worth of files every time it did so. It only stopped when it ran out of free space to install in. I know because it gave me an error message saying it could "complete the install". When it finally stopped, it had written THIRTY-FIVE extra copies of the files on to my hard drive

Bottom line: I now have functional Win7 but only ONE gig of free space on a 300 gig comp.

Obviously, I need to re-install from the beginning but HOW do i prevent from happening again?
