  • What do you do when you're worried about the future?

Lately, I've been unable to sleep out of anxiety. I'm about to graduate. I need to find a place to live and a place to work. I know both things will get done but I can't stop worrying.

What also bothers me is why do I constantly have difficulty finding work. Most of my friends seem to get one offer after another, and these are the people i helped constantly throughout our courses.

I feel depressed. How do I stop worrying?

  • Is a small teddybear an appropriate gift for a newborn boy?

One of the members in my team recently became a dad. I want to buy a present for his kid.

Is a small teddybear an appropriate gift? I obviously don't want to gift something that would be a choking hazard but I would like it to be heartfelt.

    Thanks :)

  • What's the angriest you've ever been and why?

Right now I'm super angry at my roommate. Every single day his parents call him on Skype asking him how to use a smartphone and he talks so DAMN loud! And it goes on for hours.

  • I feel as though I have nothing in my life?

The first thing is that I've never really had close friends. That's because it's really hard to meet someone with interests similar to mine where I am right now because I'm kinda interested in Arts, Languages, Literature and History.

In my old university, I had friends who were really into this sort of stuff and whenever I was bored, I'd just go visit them and we'd debate for hours. In my university dorms, it's most ungergrads and all they're interested in talking about is relationships and I've never been successful in that regard so that really puts me down.

Earlier in the year, I used to go to campus and hang out with my classmates there and that would be cool but we don't have classes anymore and it's just projects so a lot of the time, I'm at home working on the projects and I feel so different and like such an outcast.

I dunno, what am i doing wrong?

  • My parents are very pessimistic and it effects my family?

I'm the third in a family of four brothers and no sisters and for as long as I can remember, my parents have always been so pessimistic and it's really effected us growing up. I do love them and they took great care of us and looked after us but their pessimism distances the family.

At the heart of the matter is that they're too involved. They have to have a say in everything we do and because of that they think they have to make our decisions for us but we can make our own decisions though when we do, they get complain that we don't listen to them.

    My dad:

    - Always downplays any achievement. If you tell him your lecturer personally commended you - he won't even sound pleased; he'll just say 'that's encouraging news'.

    - Extremely over-protective e.g. he didn't want us to learn to swim because he was afraid we'd drown; never taught us to drive fearing we'd get into an accident; didn't teach me to shave fearing i'd cut and bleed to death.

    - Blames us for things constantly.

    - short-tempered. I'm afraid of talking to him.

    - He'll either be too involved or not involved at all.

    My mom:

    - I really do love her.

    - but sometimes, out of nowhere, she says the most pessimistic things! me and my brother will be joking with her and she'll be laughing and then all of a sudden she'll say 'when i'm old, you won't care about me' and then we wonder if we've done something wrong and we're horrible children.

    - me and my brothers, we don't talk much because we have really different interests but we do get along, but my mom makes it seem that our family is dysfunctional but it's not that abnormal. she just makes us feel bad to be a part of it sometimes.

    - she clings to faults that we made 1000s of years ago. I fooled around in my first driving lesson and since then she accuses me of not being serious about learning to drive.

    - she focuses so much on the negative that she misses out on the positives about us so that when someone tells her nice things about us; she's surprised!

My parents focus so much on the negatives and they worry so much. I just want them to relax and have faith that it'll all be okay. If they gave us a bit of space and didn't pass judgement on every move - they'd find that's its not as gloomy as they think it is.

  • Confused about Alien reproduction?

Okay, so I had this weird thought : how do aliens in Alien (Ridley Scott) reproduce? There seems to be a new way in each installment of the series!

In Alien, when a scorpion thing latches on to your head, it feeds Alien eggs into your body or whatever and pretty soon a baby Alien bursts out of your stomach.

In Aliens, you have a queen Alien who lays eggs from which baby aliens emerge. Likewise in Alien 4.

But in prometheus, you have a black, i dunno, sperm? which gives birth to a scorpion thing, which latches on to an Engineer who then gives birth to an Alien?

    WTF!

Is this as confusing for you as it is for me? What's the 'standard' way that an Alien is born?

Still my all-time favourite Alien movie, though!

  • Do you take afternoon naps? How long?

I rarely do. I feel i'm wasting the day. If I take one, it'll be for one hour.

    They seem fun though.

  • Could you explain these parts of The Shining ?

I just watched The Shining for a second time today and it is by far my most favourite horror film but there are some thing which I don't understand:

    1. Were the guys Jack saw in the Golden Room ghosts?

    2. Why does Jack's picture appear in the 1921 ball? I don't get that at all?

    3. When Brody says that he has always been the caretaker and Jack also has always been the caretaker, what does that mean? Like was Jack telepathic?

    4. What's the overall story, like

    - the hotel is haunted?

    OR

    - Jack and his wife go crazy and have hallucinations?

    OR

    - Jack and his son are telepathic and they can see the ghosts? If that's the case why can the wife not see them until the end?

    Thanks!

  • Aren't you sick of how sexualised the media's become?

movies, tv shows, books - you name it! It's all about sex as though that's all that matters in life and there's nothing else to talk about.

I, for one, am sick of looking at d[i]ck jokes on 9gag and reddit etc.
