  • Best Pearl Jam Official Bootlegs?

My Dad is a huge PJ fan and I'd like to get him a couple of the official bootleg CD's for Christmas. He has a few (Mansfield, Milan, State College and a couple others I can't remember at the moment). What are some other particularly good ones? I'm looking more for good sound quality than length. There are just so many, it's impossible to go through them all and keep them straight!

    Thanks in advance :)

  • How can I remove a tick head from under dog's skin?

I have a long haired dog who has had a tick problem lately. They have just been awful in our area this year. I put Frontline on him every month, but he still gets them (generally one at a time).

This time, he had one on his head and he just would NOT let me get it out with tweezers. I used Hartz UltraGuard Rid shampoo on the area, and the next day took him to be groomed and the groomer saw what appeared to be a dead tick body in his hair and got rid of it. Later, I noticed that there was still a bump on his head. This isn't the usual lump he gets after pulling off a tick; it is black and appears to be at least partially under his skin. I'm thinking it's the tick head. I can't get at it with tweezers because of it's position and I'm hesitant to just use the Rid shampoo again if it's not going to get the whole thing out. Does anyone have any advice? His vet isn't open today so I figured I'd ask around in the meantime. Thanks!

  • What is the best pet insurance?

After just paying another several hundred dollar vet bill because the pooch managed to eat something that disagreed with him, I've decided it's time to get some insurance for the little guy!

I'm looking for recommendations for pet insurance. I don't need anything crazy but definitely want coverage for illnesses.. I don't care about vaccines/annual exams being covered.

He is a 2 year old Shorkie and we live in MA. Thanks in advance!

  • Groomer hurt my dog, what can I do?

I have a small (8 lb.) dog who is 2 years old. I have been taking him to the same groomer for about a year and never had a problem. Friday he went for his grooming, I picked him up when he was done and the groomer seemed to be rushing us out, which never happens- we usually end up chatting for at least 20 minutes before I leave! I figured they were just busy, paid and went on my way. When I got home, I noticed my dog had 2 cuts on his chest, about a half inch apart from each other. I was stunned that the groomer didn't bother to mention it to me! If she had said something, I'd feel better about the situation. I still wouldn't take my dog back there because he'd be afraid, but I'd be slightly less angry. So Saturday night my dog starts showing signs of distress and it progressed into throwing up and diarrhea and of course a vet visit.

My question is, what recourse do I have against the groomer? Can I at least get what I paid for the grooming refunded? Vet bill possibly? I took pictures of his wounds. Should I send these via e-mail or a certified letter? I'd call but I want a paper trail in case they pull anything funny.

What do you guys think? Please say a prayer for my lil guy, Max to have a speedy recovery! Thank you very much.

  • Are bridesmaids required to attend the bachelorette party?

Is it ok for a bridesmaid to skip the bachelorette party?

I am going to be a bridesmaid in a close friends wedding. The MOH is her much older sister, who, of course, wants to spoil her younger sister. Now, I don't want to rain on anyone's parade or cause a problem, but I am working on my degree and working very part time because my course load is demanding. I don't have much disposable income. I knew it would be costly to be in the wedding, and I simply cannot afford to go to the bachelorette party.

I already bought my $200 dress, which needs to be taken in and have to buy dyeable shoes. Her wedding is out of state (in a state that none of the wedding party, including the bride and groom!, live in) and on a week day, so I need to take 2 days off of work for the spa day she wants the day before the wedding (that we're paying for as well), and in my job I don't get any paid time off, the rehearsal dinner, and the actual wedding, plus pay for a hotel for both of those nights.

The MOH also wants $125 toward the shower gift, which she has picked, and I imagine more money for the shower, too.

The MOH wants our RSVP in a couple of days, and thinking ahead, I just can't afford it, on top of everything else, plus the wedding gift I'll also need to get. She's planning on limos and Lord only knows what else. I think it's much more important for me to apply the money I do have to the shower and the wedding gifts.

What do you think? Given my financial situation, is it ok to skip this one event? And should I let both the MOH and the bride know what's up? Would you be mad at a bridesmaid who skipped a wedding event, even if they couldn't afford it? I'm not being cheap, I just can't justify not being able to pay a bill or 2 over one night. Advice, please!

  • Chemistry help-- writing ionic equations?

Write a balanced ionic equation showing elemental iron reacting with H+ to form the iron (III) ion and hydrogen gas.

I get how to balance equations, but I'm having trouble writing them. I imagine Fe + H+ or something like that would be on the left, and something like Fe + H2 after the arrow (unbalanced, of course) but I have no clue. I'm sure it's something simple I'm overlooking that will make it click for me. I'd appreciate any help and thank you in advance.

  • Car problems- burnt rubber smell & screeching?

I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant with about 55,000 miles on it. I used the heat this morning and when I got out of the car, I noticed this horrible burnt rubber smell coming from under the hood. I didn't smell anything while I was in the car. My commute is about 20 minutes and the heat was on for a little more than half that time.

My car is also making a random loud screeching noise that I can't seem to pinpoint the cause of. It's done it with and without a/c, with and without heat, occasionally while I'm pressing the gas, occasionally when I first start it.. It is just not a consistent occurrence. It's been going on for a few months.

Anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing these issues? My car was just inspected (and passed) about 3 weeks ago, if that means anything.. Thanks in advance.

  • Help with a quadratic equation?

I'm really struggling with precalculus, and was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction with this problem, as I'm not really sure how to begin:

    f(x) = x(50 - x)

I need to find the x intercepts, y intercept, coordinates of the vertex, equation of the axis of symmetry (which I think is the x intercept?), domain and range. I think this is throwing me for a loop because it's not in ax^2 + bx + c form.. I'd really appreciate any help that would help me to understand how this is done.. I'm not looking to have work done for me, just to understand!

  • Oil leak without seeing oil?

I went for an oil change a few days ago. Guy comes out and scares the heck out of me saying I should get their factory scheduled maintenance package right away because when they opened the hood they "found a major oil leak, 2 cracked belts, dirty transmission fluid, and when we do the full check, we're probably going to find a lot more wrong." Fortunately, I was meeting a friend in an hour and didn't have time to do the check (this is a quick lube place, not my mechanic, who I would have do any repairs, anyway), but they gave me an itemized list of $500+ of repairs not including the ones they somehow know they'll find. I was like, wow, a major oil leak, that sounds bad. He said he had 2 other cars on the lift at that very moment with the same problem, which I thought was kind of convenient. I can't get in to my mechanic until Friday, but my question is, if I had a "major" oil leak, wouldn't I see oil under my car? I garaged it for the entire weekend after getting this news and didn't see a drop. I smell nothing strange, don't see anything under the hood (not that I'm a car expert), but I'd think I'd see some oil on the ground if this was a major leak! What do you think? Trying to make a few extra bucks with scare tactics, or could I really have this leak?

  • Norwegian Cruise Line room upgrade? And Bermuda travel?

I'm planning a cruise to Bermuda and we're going with NCL. There's an option to book a "GTY" room, which guarantees you the best room within your category. This is about $30 extra per person. Is this worth it? Do upgrades typically happen? I'd rather spend the $30 elsewhere if it's not. We're just getting an inside stateroom, anyway, but I'd like to be in the best position possible. Is it likely they'll upgrade anyway if the cruise isn't sold out, even if I don't get the "GTY?" We're going at the end of April from Boston. This is my first cruise, so I'd appreciate any advice. Also, if anyone has any experience going to Bermuda and advice on what to expect, things to do, that would be great as well :) Thanks, everyone!

  • Pilots, flight attendants, frequent flyers- fear of flying advice?

I posted this a few days ago but it was late at night, so I only got a few (very good) responses. I'm hoping to get a little more feedback posting at more of a "peak" time, since the more advice I can get the better!

Every year my boyfriend tries to take me on a trip (5 years now, bless him) and every single year I have disappointed him and said no because I am deathly afraid of flying. Like so afraid that I will have nightmares tonight because I've thought about it so much today. I'm 25, there's a big world out there and I want to see it but I just can't bring myself to fly. I'm hoping that if some of the above listed people can give me a little input as to safety procedures or anything else that would make me feel better I would have more of a chance of getting over this. I know all the stats (and there are waaaay more cars on the road than planes in the air, so don't try that one on me! lol), I know that logically it will probably be fine, I know I can take pills (which but none of that helps. I am really desperate for help because I know it's holding me back! And I think that's a good first step, realizing that! I'd really appreciate any advice you can give me. Thanks in advance for your time :)

  • New puppy scratches ear a lot- why?

I just bought a puppy. He's about 15 weeks old. I noticed that he's scratching his ear/neck area quite frequently, to the point where he'll whimper a little. I took him to be groomed, they found a flea, so they gave him a flea treatment. He still kept scratching. Took him to the vet, yesterday, the vet said his ears were dirty but didn't look infected. The vet cleaned his ears, the scratching continues. I noticed that it sometimes seems to get worse when he's outside. Any ideas? The vet said it didn't look infected, but he's still scratching himself. This is my first dog, so I'm no expert, but I know there's got to be some reason he's doing this! I'm thinking of taking him to a different vet but I'd like so ideas of what it might be, so I can bring them up and have the vet check each thing to figure out what's wrong with the little guy! I'd also love to hear of any medications/treatments you've had success with if your dog was experiencing the same issue. Thanks!

  • Coughing fits and vomiting?

I have coughing fits nearly every morning. They're not immediate, usually I'm up for a half hour or so before it starts. I cough really hard for various lengths of time, and there's nothing I can do to stop it. Lately, they've gotten worse and I have been vomiting after coughing for a minute or 2. Once I vomit, the cough continues, a little less intense, and then I'm fine in a few minutes.

I'm not sick, and haven't been since January.

I have always been a cougher, but the stronger fits and vomiting are a more recent development. When I am sick, I usually have a cough that lingers for a few weeks, sometimes a few months. And I rarely get any sleep when I'm sick as I literally cough all day and all night. I have lost my voice before because of it.

I feel like this can't be normal, but the times I've gone too a doctor to check out my lingering cough after being sick (I haven't gone for the coughing fits), I've just had an inhaler thrown at me basically, without any real diagnosis other than "stubborn cough" which I just happen to get every single time I even get the common cold.

I'm looking for some other input so that when I do go to the doctor, I can kind of bring up things that should be checked out and considered. Thanks in advance :)

  • The Skybox in Tewksbury, MA?

Has anyone been to the SkyBox in Tewksbury, MA? It's a sports bar. I'm planning a little get together with some old friends and we want to go somewhere we can watch the Sox game that's local. I figured I'd ask around before I pick it and get blamed for having everyone go to some horrible place. I'm open to other recommendations in the Tewksbury/Wilmington/Woburn/Burlington area. Thanks in advance :)

  • Inserts or other option to make shoes fit snugly?

Every time I buy a pair of shoes (usually heels) one seems to fit perfectly and the other is a little loose, causing my foot to come up out of the shoe when I walk, basically making it look like I can't walk in heels. My question is, is there anything I can do to make the shoe smaller or fit more snug? My recent pair are peep toes, so I can't wear extra socks or something. Is there a product that helps this?
