Shouldn't we let the poor wee chap have a lie in for a change?

Les bleus ne sont pas assez bleus? N'importe quoi! Moi, je suis écossaise, mais j'habite en France depuis 7 ans. Moi, je me reconnais dans cette équipe que je soutiens parce que j'aime La France. Allez les bleus!

I realise our old friend has not been amongst us recently, and perhaps this is why. Whose hand should replace Ray Alan's now? Good bye, Ray, I hope there's a nice cold "gottle of geer" waiting for you at your new destination.

8 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoBalls as possible future Labour leader? How appropriate is that?
At the next general election the electorate with have Balls in their hands. During a tough question time in the House of Commons the opporistion might try to squeeze Balls for information. And when we've all had enough of him, we can shout "Balls out!". i think he should become labour leader purely for comedy purposes...
6 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoWho should Clegg get into bed with?
He claims that he should talk to the Tories because they got most votes. However, ideologically he is closer to Labour. And in any case if you add together the proportions Labour and LibDem voters you get more than the Conservative vote, so that's the number that matters. There is NO WAY Lib Dems and Cons can agree on Europe and immigration. I firmly believe that he should only join forces with the party that shares most common ground otherwise he's selling his soul for power. Never a good basis for government. Plus, the "others" who could come on board are all mostly left of centre. It makes no sense whatsoever to join forces with the Tories.

One cannot help thinking that an eccentric dancing grandma, a guy that plays the garden hose from his bottom or a chav girl-band would possibly be well qualified to lead this country to its doom.
2 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoDo equestrians use the word menage or manège?
Three times on TV this week I have noticed people using the word "menage" when they are talking about equestrian facilities. Surely this should be manège? I live in France, and this word is the correct word, seeing as it refers to a circular ring around which horses are exercised. The word "menage" is related to the household. Is this a common mistake, or is it simply TV presenters being slack? Which word is generally used by people in the equestrian business in the UK?
8 AnswersWords & Wordplay1 decade agoIsn't it about time you "rediscovered" an old music album?
I have dug out "Exile on Main Street" after not listening to it for years. I'd forgotten just how brilliant that album is! Blisss..... Now.... go to your music collection, find something pre-1980 and give it a whirl. Then come back and tell me what the album was and how much you enjoyed listening to it again!

11 AnswersActualité et événements - Divers1 decade agoWhat are all these pointless games on facebook?
I have an account to keep up with my friends because I live abroad. However, this morning I have been invited to adopt a baby turtle, share some farm collectibles (whatever that means) and have a portion of chicken tandoori. Has the world gone virtually insane?
Q : What's the most pointless thing you've been invited to do on facebook?!
15 AnswersFacebook1 decade agoA question for grammar pedants?
I keep hearing estate agents on property programmes using the term "deceptively spacious" to describe a house which is larger than it appears. However, when I hear "deceptively spacious" I am inclined to interpret it as "smaller than it appears". I may of course be confused (it wouldn't be the first time!) but does anyone else agree that the term is generally misused? To help clarify things, if I were to refer to a mathematical theorum as "deceptively simple" would this not mean that it was in fact rather more complex than it initially seemed? Or would it mean the contrary? Your opinions would be gratefully received!

This chap seems to think there is a 0.0000034% chance of finding true love.

I particularly enjoyed the phrase...
"The results are not encouraging. The probability of finding love in the UK is only about 100 times better than the probability of finding intelligent life in our galaxy." LOL!
Now my philosophical dilemma is what category to put this Q in. Singles and dating or maths? Hmmm, I'll stick it in Polls and Surveys for a varied response!
