  • How many units of alcohol in a shot of Malibu Rum?

I'm a bit confused with regards to the units of alcohol in a shot of spirits and liquer and stuff. How many units of alcohol are there in a shot of Malibu Rum? What about the units of alcohol in a shot of Vodka? It can't possibly be the same since Vodka is about 40% and Malibu is about 24% ABV. What does this mean exactly?

  • How many laps should I be doing in 45 minutes? Tips for swimming faster?

I'm 19. I started going for swimming lessons about 2 months ago to perfect my strokes. I initially was afraid of swimming in the deeper ends of the swimming pool (2 metres) but now I've finally overcome that fear and have begun swimming laps.

However, I feel I'm quite slow- yesterday, I did 16 laps in 45 minutes (8 freestyle, 8 breaststroke) and I rested for about 30-60 seconds in after each lap.

How many laps should I be doing in 45 minutes? Is there a number I can work towards?

    Any tips for swimming faster?

    Thank you very much!

  • British Law Schools & Australian Law Schools. Which should I choose?

I have offers to read law (at undergraduate level) from both British and Australian Law Schools. I intend to practice Law in Asia (places like Singapore & Hong Kong). The offers from the Australian Law schs are for double degrees in Law & Economics.

Where's the best place to go to read law-- Britain or Australia?

    Law schools in question:

    British Law Schs:

    Nottingham, Durham & Warwick

    Australian Law Schs:

    Australian National University

    University of New South Wales

I would really like to hear from lawyers, law students or anyone familiar with Law in both countries. I would also appreciate any official rankings of any sort with regards to Law-- to facilitate comparison between these law schools.

I am more interested in the academic standing and quality of education, rather than the specific location, facilities or cost.

    Serious answers only please.

    Thank you so much!

  • How do I cook like an Italian?

Do you have any tips or hints on how to cook like an Italian?

I recently attended a cooking class by an Italian-Australian and one tip he told me was to cook the tomato sauce together with olive oil (as opposed to putting in the olive oil in after the tomato sauce is cooked). This helps in fusing the olive oil with the tomato sauce.

I was wondering if anyone has any other tips on cooking Italian or Mediterranean food?

    Thank you =)

when I turn to the side to breathe (when I'm doing freestyle). But I find this really difficult and my arm tends to move downwards when I'm turning to the side to breathe.

What should I do? Can anyone please help me with this?

    Thank you.

  • I ate pasta with Vodka in it...?

& now I have a terrible headache. I also feel very sleepy. Is this what happens when you consume alcohol?? I've never tried alcohol before this and if this is what it feels like, I don't think I'll ever try it again.

  • Is the argument against Faye Turney selling her story valid?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/6538075.stm

In the article above, there is some criticism against Faye Turney selling her story about her capture in Iran for a six figure sum. From the article:

"Lieutenant Felix Carman, who was among those held, has said he finds it "unsavoury" that his fellow captives are being paid to tell their story. "

"Sally Veck, whose 19-year-old daughter Eleanor Dlugosz was killed in Iraq, criticised the MoD for letting the sailors and marines profit from their ordeal.

She told the Times: "If you are a member of the military, it is your duty to serve your country.

"You should do your duty and not expect to make money by selling stories." "

In another part of the article, Tom Newton-Dunn says that Faye "has a right to do this."

My question is, are military personnel allowed to sell their stories like this? Is the criticism against her valid?

  • Have you read Tony Buzan's books? Does mind-mapping really work?

What do you think? Has his methods helped you?

I am having some doubts. I've never believed in mind-mapping- it seems too fancy and fluffy to be a real study strategy. However, I am trying to improve my study skills and was just wondering if it really works.

    Thank you =)

Does anyone know of online stores that sell affordable clothes for women? I like Topshop-type trends, as well as Mango & Zara, so hopefully you could recommend online stores with similar styles.

  • Which option to choose?Any other options available to straighten teeth?I don't want to wear retainers forever.

I have been engaging the services of orthodontists for the last 9 to 10 years (ever since I was 10) to straighten my teeth. I've switched orthodontists thrice as some of them were just interested in ripping me off rather than treating my dental problems.

I really want to straighten my teeth and get it done and over with asap. However, I have a jaw problem that sort of hinders the process of straightening my teeth.

(I'm currently wearing Hawley retainers, the one made of pink plastic.)

I just visited my orthodontist today and he told me that my teeth are unstable due to the jaw problem. He presented me with 3 options for my teeth:

    1. Continue wearing the Hawley retainers for the rest of my life

    2. Wear braces for 6 months to straighten my teeth followed by permanent(/fixed) retainers (the one consisting of wire stuck at the back of your teeth) for the rest of my life

    3. Surgery (for both my upper and lower jaw)(However, my case is not THAT severe, just mild-moderate acc to the doc)

  • Good Career Guide Books?

Do you know of any good career guide books for students in college?

I'm looking for books that sort of assess your strengths and weaknesses and match you to your perfect job(s), as well as give comprehensive information about the job(s).

Hoping to give this to my sister who is undecided on her major in college and doesn't really know what she wants to be after she finishes her university education.

    Thank you =)

  • Help with a phrase! I need to send this to a law professor.?

What is another way of saying " I pursued an internship.."?

Is " I procured an internship.." alright?

Is there another better phrase I can use?

I already used the word "pursued" in a different paragraph and I don't want the letter to look so repetitive.

This letter might mean a lot for my admission to law school and I really don't want to mess it up.

Thank you so much for your answers and help. =)
