What is the title of the movie or tv show where they build a lighthouse in a backyard?
I’m trying to think of the title, where the guy builds a lighthouse in his backyard because it has a special meaning or special connection to him and his neighbors or friends help him with it.
1 AnswerOther - Television2 years agoIn TX, can a debt collector sue someone for defaulting on a payday loan?
So I have a friend who is almost panicking over what she told me is a loan that, from what I can tell, she defaulted on. From what she has told me, she took out a $300 payday loan a few years ago (2, maybe 3 years) and now she is getting phone calls from some "law office" that is supposedly based in Dallas, which shows up on her caller ID. She has allowed me to listen to some of the voicemails she received, stating along the lines of "This is so-and-so calling from the law offices of such-and-such and associates, contacting you in regards to a file that has been placed in our office which has been attached to your social security number. Please call us back at this number." From what she has told me, she hasn't answered the calls, nor called them back. She then got a voicemail from someone stating that they are a private courier and that they will be visiting her residence and place of employment to deliver "important legal documents" to her.
I have Googled the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act with her, to try and get some kind of bead about this, but to no avail. So, the questions are.........What if she continues to disregard the phone calls? What if she refuses to answer the door when some "courier" comes knocking? What if the "courier" makes contact with her at her work and she refuses to sign for, or accept anything? Can the court(s) proceed with a legal judgement and garnish her wages? Wouldn't it cost more money (in the bigger picture) to take it to court?

2 AnswersHockey5 years agoIn the Cessna 208 Caravan, what is the purpose/function of the intertial separator knob/lever?
I have been watching the television show "Flying Wild Alaska", and noticed the interal separator lever in the cockpit of a real Caravan aircraft, and have also seen it in Flight Simulator X. When using it in flight, in FSX, I've noticed that my engine rpm's, fuel flow, and airspeed all get reduced when using it. What is the intertial separator? What is it for? What is it's purpose for the Caravan?
2 AnswersVideo & Online Games6 years agoCan a Star Trek: Voyager fan answer this?
I've been watching Star Trek: Voyager and I am trying to find a particular episode to watch. The episode that I am looking for is where Chakotay, Kim, and another female crew member land on a planet and they find Voyager completely encased in ice. They place hand-sized portable generators onto a console which powers it up. If memory serves correctly, I believe it has something to do with time-travel as well.
So, the question is........what season is that episode from? What is the name of the episode, and what episode number is it? No, this is not my attempt to make trivia, I am trying to find the episode so that I can watch it again.
Your assistance will be greatly appreciated. I will give five stars to the first accurate answer. Thank you!
3 AnswersDrama9 years agoWhat annoys you the most about other drivers on the road?
Okay, so I recently read an article online about annoying driving habits, and I just figured I'd gather more info for friendly discussion, and would certainly like your opinion. The question is.....what do you find most annoying and bothersome about other drivers on the road? I'm not a perfect driver either but here are a few of my pet-peeves.
1. Turn Signals - you spent all that money and went all-out with all kinds of extras on that big expensive (and gas-guzzling) SUV or full-size pickup, and yet despite the fact that you're spending a fortune on it, you still got screwed on the entire deal because your turn signals don't work......or is it that you don't use them? If they don't work, take the vehicle back to the dealership that you bought it from and have a mechanic inspect or repair the turn signals. If need be, spend about $10 to $15 to replace all four bulbs. If you're a do-it-yourself-er, go to WalMart and buy the bulbs and
replace them yourself. It's pretty easy! Otherwise, if they work just fine......USE them!
2. Emergency Vehicles (police, fire, ambulance) - Unless your state laws specify otherwise, you are required ***BY LAW*** to pull over to the right *OFF* of the road and *STOP* when an emergency vehicle is traveling with lights/sirens activated. If you are approaching an intersection where you have a GREEN light, you still have to STOP and give the emergency vehicle the right-of-way, regardless if you have the green light. Would it really inconvenience you that much (or kill you) to just take a few seconds and let them go by? Someones life may be in grave danger and you just cost them their life, all because you didn't yield the right-of-way for the ambulance and wound up smashing right into it!
3. Tailgating (following too close) - did it ever occur to you that the person in front of you is actually obeying the posted speed limit? Did it ever occur to you that those yellow flashing lights in the school zone are telling you that the speed limit is now 20 and not 30? Some states have lower speed limits in the school zones during school hours to help increase the margin of safety for students, especially for those who have to cross the road with the help of a Crossing Guard. If it's a two-lane road (or more) in the direction that you are traveling, move over and PASS, that is exactly what a passing lane is for. Simply put.....unless you are a hemorrhoid, (or you're really intent on letting me see the pores on your skin) get off my @$$!!! No passing lane? Oh well, deal with it!
4. Stop signs/Red lights - self explanatory, need I say more?.......STOP!!!!! S-T-O-P! Sam Tom Ocean Paul (or Sierra Tango Oscar Papa), phonetically speaking. Especially when you're in a school-zone and the Crossing Guard is in the crosswalk holding a hand-held stop sign (see #3). For pete's sake, that is what the other pedal is for! (opposite of the accelerator/gas pedal)
5. Speed Limit - okay, so I probably am the one contributing to many others being annoyed, but there is a reason that I do not go any faster than 55 on the highway, no matter how high the posted speed limit.......i'm saving gas. Among the many things you can do to save gas, (i do all of them) driving slightly slower is a big contributor to saving gas. For me, it makes the difference between going either 630 or 495 miles on a single full tank of gas. When i'm on a single-lane road, I move over and let the driver behind me pass. 9 times out of 10, I get some form of a "thank-you" from the other driver, either by a wave of the hand or by some sort of lights flashing. When i'm on a multi-lane road, I stay all the way over in the right-hand lane and don't budge unless someone in front of me is going slower than I am. Simply put......if you don't like how slow I am going, use the passing lane(s), that's what they are there for!!! Especially when inclement weather is on the menu for the day, (rain/snow) you are much safer by reducing your speed in heavy rain, or when the rain first starts and the road becomes very slippery.
There's much more that I could go with, but for now, those are some of my pet-peeves. By all means, answer with some of yours. Be respectful, please. Thanks!
3 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation10 years agoWhat kind of oil should I use for my motorcycle?
I have a 2009 Suzuki GSXR600, and pretty soon it will be time for its next service, which will call for an oil/oil filter change and adjustments all around. The service(s) can be expensive, and I want to try and save a little bit of money on the matter. I have carefully read the manual, and still have some questions. I have already asked around where I live, but it seems that no one can give me a solid answer. The manual recommends using "Suzuki Performance 4 Motor Oil" or the 10W-40 equivalent, API Service SJ, MA Class and non-energy conserving.
I went to WalMart and found some oils that pretty much match what the manual recommends, with some differences. I found Pennzoil 10W-40 but its label says API Service SM (not SJ), and Valvoline 10W-40 but its label says API Service SN (again, not SJ), same thing with Castrol GTX oil.
So, my big burning question is.........would it be safe to choose any of those oils, as long as the viscosity (10W-40) matches the recommendations?
5 AnswersMotorcycles1 decade agoHow would my long-time phobia be classified?
I'm 26 years old, and have a rather weird kind of phobia. Ever since I was a kid, I've had a fear of balloons popping, and still do to this day. I remember it almost like it was yesterday......I remember playing with a balloon in the living room, slapping it around, playing with it all around the room. It went upward towards the ceiling, and when it hit the "prickly" type of ceiling, it popped and I've been scared of balloons popping ever since. When I was a bit older, a relative of mine came into the house, holding a balloon that was attached to a string. She accidentally let go of it, it went up to the ceiling, popped, and I screamed.
Now, 26 years later, I find that I am still scared of balloons popping. Anytime that I have ever been around someone playing with a balloon, I have always cringed and walked away in fear, even when the balloon didn't pop. My heart beats hard in my chest, my adrenaline flows like Niagara Falls, and I'm instantly scared when I see anyone playing with a balloon, like say, slapping it around, squeezing it, or even blowing one up with their mouth. I am still scared when a balloon pops or even appears that it may pop.
I have done some research, to determine what kind of phobia this would be considered. I have found that "Acousticophobia" is the fear of noise, however, I have no problem with shooting a gun, since I am expecting the loud noise that comes with it, but I do fear a tire being inflated when it appears that it may explode.
So, the burning question is......what would the phobia be called, when you have the fear of a balloon popping?
3 AnswersPsychology1 decade agoDo you believe in the death penalty?
Ok, this question has already been asked by others, as well as answered, so I just want to gather some input for myself. I have mixed feelings on the subject, however, I'd like your input as well.
I am not sure, myself, if I believe in the death penalty. I believe that there are some crimes that people commit where the penalty fits, however, I also believe that some people should have to live with what they did for the rest of their life. I feel that someone who actually feels guilt and remorse for their heinous crime should have to live with it for the rest of their life, however, I feel that the ones who don't give a s**t should be the ones to be executed. What's your take on the matter?
12 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoChild Support question for AZ?
My friend (John Doe) lives with me in TX. His ex-wife (Jane Doe) lives in AZ. John is getting child support deducted from his paycheck every month for a child he says is NOT his. According to John, Jane went to court in AZ seeking child support and is now receiving $800 a month in child support. John says that he requested a DNA test to be done, to prove wether or not the child in question is his, and he says the courts ignored his request. John also says that even though the child is not his, that Arizona can still take child support from him because of "marraige by default", which he says is because he was married to her and that there was a child during the marraige. The whole thing doesn't sound right to me at all, so my question is.........can someone still be held liable for child support even if the child is NOT theirs? if my friend John gets a DNA test done, and it proves that the child is NOT his, can he have his child support terminated? or is he simply telling the truth, that AZ can still hit him up for child support simply because he was married to her???
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics1 decade agoCan a real-world pilot answer this?
I'm playing Flight Simulator X, and wanting to make it as realistic as possible.....I've flown a Boeing 747-400, from Austin Bergstrom Intl (KAUS) to Sacramento Intl (KSMF). Here's the details......
Take-off (manual flying): Ascent rate @ 2,500 ft/min, 350 knots/true airspeed, until I reach 33,000 ft. Altimeter set at 29.92.
Cruising (using auto-pilot): Level off @ 33,000 ft (Altimeter set @ 29.92), 500 knots/true airspeed (0.85 Mach which is cruising speed for the 747), Yaw Damper activated, HDG set according to the Flight Plan loaded onto the GPS.
Landing (manual flying): Descent rate @ 2,500 ft/min, flaps 5 degrees/gear still up, maintaining 300 knots until reaching 2,500 ft (Altimeter set @ 29.92).....when airport is in sight, slow to 230 knots, flaps fully down/gear down......when about to touch-down, throttle down completely (slow to 170-160 knots), smooth touch-down, then reverse thrust, speed brake on FULL, hardly use the brakes.
My question is.......based on the details of my flight, is any of that close to how you'd fly in real-life? When you fly on auto-pilot, do you have to constantly make course (heading) corrections by 1 or 2 degrees, or do you fly in a straight line from point A to Point B? If you do make corrections, do you have to turn-on the seatbelt sign or can you make certain manuevers without having to turn-on the seatbelt sign?
6 AnswersAircraft1 decade agoAm I asking for too much for my tv?
I have a 37" Westinghouse flat screen tv, it's not HD or anything fancy, just a simple 37" flat screen tv. I bought it for about $1,100 from Best Buy in 2007, and I am trying to sell it. I am asking for $400 for it, but am considering lowering my price. I've had offers for $100, $150, but no higher than $200. Someone even told me that anyone who'd buy it from me between $300 to $400 would be stupid.....so my question is, in your opinion, am I asking too much for my tv?
