Foyer light wiring question?
I pulled down my old light in my foyer and found 2 sets of wires. One set had white black and a ground wire, the other had a white red and ground wire. It was just a light with no ceiling fan. I want to put up just a light with no ceiling fan and the light itself has just a white black and ground. Should I just cap off one set of wires and use the other set or tie all whites to white and the black and red to black and then tie all grounds together?
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWho came up with the name "Adamantium", which is the fictional metal used most notably in Wolverine?
The name Adam Ant is obvious, but which came first and are the 2 even related. Just seems too obvious to be an accident.
3 AnswersMovies1 decade agoWho have you heard refer to themselves as Engineers when they weren't?
Seems like everyone wants to call themselves an engineer, but most aren't. Who have you heard call themselves an engineer that wasn't? Like a garbage man calling himself a "sanitation engineer", or a truck driver saying he's a "operating engineer", or a mechanic as a "mechanical engineer". I don't mean to degrade anyone or any profession, I just find some humor in folks calling themselves engineers. Actually, it's quite the opposite. There is honor in all work. Be proud of what you do no matter what, you don't have to add the word engineer for your job to be important.
6 AnswersEngineering1 decade agoThermal cracking in concrete?
Anyone have any resources on thermal cracking in reinforced concrete. Specifically, if the rebar can cause restraint in a reinforced concrete beam that is heated up by say the sun, and then cools off. Will the cooling of the exterior concrete while the interior stays warmer cause cracking if the rebar is restraining the member. References will be very helpful. I do need some specific details if possible. I already have the general knowledge, I just would like some references to get some details, possible ways to calculate.
