Texas Flirt In A Skirt
Be nice. So far I'm just sugar and spice, but I sure know how to do a quick change.
Can anyone suggest some poetry books I might look into as a gift?
My best friend Dallas is having a birthday next month and I want to get her a book of poetry. There may be lots of you who know her poetry, and I wonder if you can suggest something she might enjoy that is in the same vein as she likes to write about usually? It can be modern or classic, even one she has never thought of, but I want it to be special. Thank you so much if you will answer.

Encouraging other senses
I lost this venue as a haunt
now revisiting with dubious defenses.
Fine hairs at attention
are details you’ve never seen
outside of the lack of light
you live in.
Self-conscious silhouette
blushing silent on cool sheets,
shielding from you
my imperfections, my incomplete.
Your touch, a shudder
hiding whatever possible
I know you will learn by feel
secrets I cannot burn
but you smile, measuring
putting combined senses to a test
as I pray under your
seeing eyes and blind hands.
Braille works.
9 AnswersPoetry10 years agoI have a question for guys mostly, is this a term you understand?
I'm a Sophomore in college, I date but I'm a virgin at 19, but Friday I was walking off campus, had to pass a group of male students and I heard, "I'd hit that." and then heard some say, "Oh yeah." I had no idea what they meant, and don't know if that's a term/phrase that is even new?
Your thoughts?

To Jon Bon Jovi
I whispered to blank walls today,
There was no reply, allowing teen dreams to play.
The air conditioner hummed, as I heard you sing
Dreaming your words, your response, such the immature thing
Laid on my bed knowing you would call,
The phone did not ring, as my heart did fall
Kept you tightly in my mind, touched your beautiful face,
My hands came away empty, my foolish disgrace.
Silly thoughts of your lips kissing mine,
It was only a dream I tried to find.
Through my day in a daze, wanting the touch of your lips,
You were absent in a most gentle kiss.
Hugged my pillow to my breast, imagined you were holding me,
Could only feel my arms, you apart in your free.
Crying your name, hoping you would hear my desire,
Your did not listen, yet still fueled a fire.
I Sent my love out to you on a wind blown voice,
It returned, an echo, a sigh, though I had no other choice.
Then spent the day in wasted grief,
Our love absent, in childish beliefs.

Inhale, Exhale
Is life quite like a high school band,
maturing into a symphony?
Is it as much a gentle melody as it is
The crashing of Cymbals
and the percussive generations of a Tympani?
Do you feel the pulse of it throbbing,
or is it more a soothing flow?
Does it keep you singing along
or always changing the channels?
Is it a constant in your presence
and remain until the dirge is played?
I find it to be the core of me.

I wonder how many new hopefuls are here today?
Thank you.
Boots
Worn, wrinkled and cracked at the back;
Scuffed and scarred, showing their years,
Often I'd find them by the sense of touch;
Slip them on and ride hard through the night.
Sweating, breathless, my Horse and I would return,
Dang, I see the kitchen light burn.
'Marty, child where have you been?'
I knew already my excuse would be thin.
I tried to hide, I'd forgotten to take them off.
I got pouty saying, "OK I'll just go sleep in the hay loft."
You know I don't allow them indoors.
Oops wrong thing for me to say, so I left em on the porch floor.
Geezo parents can be so strict.
Wanted to add a part, "They grew up with me."

Country Kid
Back woods Bible thumpers
Hills and hollows jumpers
Pine and Cypress stumps
wildly growing Palmetto clumps
Are a way of life, no need to compete;
For what? Just to find defeat?
Yes we most enjoy our times at play
but work to sweat hard each new day.
Simple need not mean in our brain
and life may be no larger than a Wheat grain.
If yer diggin here to find my Gold
yer trousers might stay empty till yer way old.
An open mind, tolerance in a kind heart
That's really the best place to start
Ya might find me somewhat insensitive
but my motto always is live and let live.

I'm trying to get involved here. Is that OK?
Thank you in advance.
How can I hopefully make you see?
No wait that's wrong; Cause you to feel
How real you are to more than just me?
You come; jump into my life, like a long lost twin
We cry, we laugh, we hug,
Then you are smoke, blown by a whispering wind.
You must know you are most loved sweet girl
Have you lost self? lost faith? What will it take
To bring you back into our loving world?
