'I am The Lord Thy God. Thou shalt have no other gods before me' (leaving out the Egyptian parts)---there are different translations, of course. Some say "I am Yahweh". But some take this commandment as being monotheistic--there is only one god. But a literal reading says that there are other gods, but followers of this scripture should worship The Lord first. Maybe exclusively, but it doesn't actually say that---you could worship the other gods *after* you worship The Lord. Or it could mean that it is OK nor to worship any god, including The Lord, as long as you don't worship any of the other gods. But nowhere does it say that other gods don't exist.
