Hello all! Quick question: I have a research project to do on Stendhal, for which I need to pick one of his works to read. I have some limited familiarity with Stendhal's writing, as I attempted to make it through On Love this summer (though I eventually gave up when it ended up being overdue at the library!) and I found it rather interesting. I am wondering whether or not I should continue with On Love, or if there is another/better Stendhal work that you might recommend to me? For reference: I enjoy Plath, Orwell, Atwood and Heller — and I loathe Hardy and the Brontës. Thanks in advance for the advice!

Hey everyone. So today I got in an accident while trying to pull out into traffic, and a woman, who was going much too fast, plowed into me. Though her speed was definitely a factor in the accident, I was blamed for it because I was pulling out/failing to yield, according to the police. The car I was driving, to the best of my knowledge, was completely totaled — the whole front end is ruined and the cops were saying that there was too much structural damage. My parents are worried that because it is a relatively old car (1995), it will be valued very little and we won't be able to buy a new one, as well as that we won't get as much because it is my 'fault', even with the other person's speeding. The question I put to you lovely people is this: is it really, completely my fault? Is her speeding completely irrelevant? Also, if anyone would care to share their own 'I destroyed my car' stories so I don't feel so terrible and/or ways to deal with parents and my overwhelming guilt for ruining the family car, I am open to that too! Hi everyone! So I've recently come to the realization that my name really doesn't suit me. Hardly anyone, even my parents, actually call me by my name — it's always nicknames. I sometimes don't realize people are talking to me when they call me by my name because I'm so unused to hearing it... so I think it's time for a change. I'm also about to graduate this year, and I'm worried that my name won't suit me as I grow up, move out and get a job — I don't think it's very adult sounding. So anyways, take a look at the pictures below, and tell me what you think my new name should be!

Just wondering what you think...

I've looked at some of the other questions about factoring, and none seem to answer my question. I understand how to factor a question like: 6x² + 11x - 10 [made up], but what I don't get is what you do when you have something like: x³ + 3x² - 9x - 27.

I guess I just don't get the transition from the x² to the x³. Or should I just put this into the quadratic formula? If anyone could help me out with this, I'd really appreciate it. My math final is tomorrow and I am going to fail.

I'm writing an essay about the economy, and have done some research on the definition of an economic bubble. To my understanding, a bubble occurs when inflation causes the value of something to increase rapidly, to the point where its price becomes unsustainable. The bubble then bursts when people are unable to keep up with the increased prices, and they realize that the actual value of the item is much lesser. Could anyone tell me if I have this right? I just want to confirm that I am understanding the information I've found. Thank you!

I always find this interesting, as people seem to have very different perceptions on what names are the most attractive/cool. I go to an all-girls school, and our drama program is trying to come up with a good play to perform that won't require too many male roles. A few men are okay, but I'm looking for something that has mostly female parts. Does anyone have any suggestions for plays that we could present?

I recently updated my Limewire to 4.16, and up until today it has been running fine. Today, though, it opened and instead of the usual 'Update to Limewire Pro' window in the browser, it says this:

What does this mean, and should I be worried? I'm not sure whether or not I should reinstall it, as I am sure that I already have the latest version. Is anyone else seeing the same message? What should I do? Thanks in advance for any help.

So I think that due to much abuse from my family members, my ethernet cable is a bit broken. It still works once I can get it connected properly, although this takes a lot of jiggling and plugging and unplugging in order to get it to work. Is there any way to repair it (most damage is probably sustained from my mother shutting the door on part of the cord, or being stepped on) or make it work a little more reliably? Or am I just going to have to toss it out?

I am trying to take video clips from an iMovie project I made that are on a CD, and put them into a new iMovie project. Is this possible, and if so, how do I go about doing this? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Okay, I'm just starting to learn about electron configuration in my Chemistry 11 class, and there is something about electron configuration that is really confusing me. I understand that when you are writing out the electron configurations, the order is:

1s, 2s, 2p, 3s, 3p

but what I don't understand is why after 3p the order moves to 4s instead of 3d? If anyone could explain this to me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Although I have been hired for jobs before, I've never actually had a formal job interview. Could anyone give me some tips on what to expect, how to dress, and what sort of questions I should be prepared for? Any help is appreciated!
