I'm now married for a full year on May 3rd, 2009. WOOT! I can't have children right now due to my bad thyroids, but I plan on getting that fixed so that I can. I went to school to work for children, but after working with them, I realise that I don't have the patience for that the rest of my life, so now I'm reconsidering school again. Yay! ... I guess. And I love to ask questions and answer them as well, so maybe I'll be talking with ya soon.

  • Problems with my cycle?

    Warning, slightly graphic. Sorry. :/

I'm on birth control, which keeps me regular, but this time, not so much. I started light on the usual day, but the second day was full of small, dark colored clots, and then it stopped. I'm on day for with still no flow, but I'm having worse cramps than usual. I've been diagnosed with pcos, but haven't had the money to go back to the doctor for my check up or to get metformin represcribed.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but I haven't been sexually active with my husband in over a week. He's worried sick and has gotten me a bit concerned.

I'm a bit hesitant to go to the doctor, as I don't work because of college, and don't have insurance. Anyone gone through this? Any advice is welcome.

    Thanks!

  • Will my brother be taken care of if I join the army?

Me and my husband are thinking about enlisting in the army reserves January 2013, but I'm currently the guardian of my 17 year old (will be 18 when we enlist). He will be staying with our father while I'm gone, but I was informed that the army may help take care of him with housing and school if I enlist with the army and get the Family Care Plan. Can I also include our father in the benefits since he'll be taking care of my brother when I go?

Has anyone gone through this and what can I expect? Thanks!

  • Can my husband and I join the Army together?

    Here's the situation:

We're at a dead end. We both have college education, but neither of us can find jobs in our area. We can't afford to travel to work and we're under a mortgage and bankruptcy, so moving isn't an option.

We don't have any kids we're 25 and 28, and want to travel. Can we join the Army, Air Force, Military, or Navy together and whilst under a bankruptcy?

I know being stationed together isn't guaranteed, but we plan on getting into the same line of work.

The only reason we're hesitating is because we have animals that we love like children because we weren't able to have any and we don't know anyone who'd be willing to keep them for us. So we'd have to give them away to strangers and my husband is super against that. But I don't want to base my life around our pets, as much as I love them.

I'm going crazy because I feel like my life is going no where and I want to start on something soon.

What are our options? Is there anything we should consider?

  • Can you thicken hair?

I've always had 'baby-fine' hair that was wispy and lifeless and very thin.

My entire ponytail is thinner than half of my friend's hair. Seriously, if she puts her hair in pigtails, one of them is almost twice the size of all of the hair on my head in a pony-tail. I've grown it out nearly to my bra line, but it hasn't helped the 'thin' appearance.

I do hair for all my friends and all of them have hair way thicker than mine. Strangely enough, my hair isn't straight or curly. It's frizzy and very hard to tend. I have to curl it nearly every day to give it some body so I can hide how thin it is. Straightening it makes it very obvious.

I was told having hormone issues can result in hair loss, but again, I don't have any bald spots. I have PCOS, but idk if that would make such a difference.

Is there a way to thicken it up? Does anyone else have this problem? Is there an easy and affordable fix?

    Thanks!

  • Is there a right to self defense in this situation?

I asked this question earlier, but I hadn't worded it correctly and, therefore, got the wrong kind of answers.

This is the situation ( and everyone is over 21):

Some woman has started causing trouble for my friend for no apparent reason. We assume it's because of the guy she's dating and maybe he's trying to get back at my friend because she wouldn't give him the time of day by getting his new girlfriend to jump on my friend.

So word is getting around that she's spreading rumors, talking crap, and possibly going to confront her. My friend barely knows this girl, but knows that she is notorious for sucker punching people for the smallest reasons.

The girl even sucker punched a woman that was nearly 50, riddled with arthritis, and 1/3 her size in a public parking lot, leaving her there until paramedics arrived. You know, real shady stuff.

Well, my friend has no problem defending herself and isn't one to let someone just beat her down.

The problem: The other woman is nearly 2 months pregnant, but still wants to jump. What's my friend's options?

The other woman has been smart enough not to do anything to that the police can use against her, so that's out of the question.

If the woman jumps on my friend, is she legally allowed to defend herself? She would stop if the other woman stopped, but doesn't want to just take a beating if she's just going to get charged with attempted murder since the other woman is pregnant.

    Options other than legal?

  • Ahlzeimer's patient forgets how to swallow? And shredding?

I sit with a 97 year old woman who not only is in the advanced stages of Alzheimer's, but has severe dementia. She is on the appropriate medication to slow it down, but it doesn't seem to help much anymore.

She's in excellent physical health, but I've become a bit more concerned about some new habits of hers.

She's gotten to where sometimes she forgets how to swallow. We've been keeping a close eye for specific types of food and textures, but it seems to be at random. One day, she can eat meat and vegetables just fine, but the next day it's completely different. She'll just chew them up, look really confused for a few moments, and then spit them out on the plate.

It's very disturbing to watch, and I've tried asking why and explaining to her, but she doesn't seem to realize that it's not normal, or that she's even doing it at all.

Is there any advice or something we can do. The doctor says it's all just part of it, and ride it out.

Also, how to stop the 'shredding'?! All day, she'll sneak off and find tissues to tear apart and scatter around. We've tried putting away the tissue, but then we just get accused of stealing them from her every five minutes. Even if we make her promise not to make a mess if we give it back, she still does it, but doesn't realize it. Anybody know about how to deal with this as well?

Sorry this was so long! Five stars for the most helpful and informative answer. :) Thanks!

  • Wheezing cough? What's wrong?

The past few weeks have been horrid. Out of nowhere, I've acquired a cough, wheezing, and itching of the ears, throat, and eyes.

I've taken every type of allergy and cough medicine, but it fixes about one or two of the symptoms at a time, and only for a short period. The symptoms stop as quickly as they came for a few hours, then I'm back to suffering.

The itching has subsided a bit, but the wheezing and coughing still keeps me up and my chest and throat sore. I noticed the wheezing goes away when I cough up a bit of phlegm, but within 30 seconds to 1 minutes, I'm wheezing again.

I don't have insurance to see a doctor, but I'm sure it's allergies or I've become allergic to something.

Does anyone have this, or at least have some insight on what it is? Maybe something I can do about it without having to spend a lot of money at a doctor who may just tell me what I already know and prescribe something I've already tried to take?

    Thanks so much!

  • Down payment on braces?

If I don't have any money, no more than $100, to put down on braces (Damon Clear), will the ortho refuse to put them on?

I've had all my x-rays and fillings done. All that's left is price negotiation and I go in 2 days to do that. I can make monthly payments of up to $200, I just absolutely do no have a huge lump sum of money to put down, nor can I borrow or get a loan.

However, I can pay a little extra each month when I have extra and a couple hundred extra during tax time. Will the ortho consider this, or will he even bother putting braces on?

Has anyone gotten braces without a down payment???

    Thanks!

  • Orthodontist, bite plate, and braces?

I had a consultation to see what all can be done for my deep bite and crooked front teeth. I only want to fix my bite and the front teeth, but the orthodontist kind of bombarded me with the idea of ton of braces and dental work that seemed extremely unnecessary, and WAY out of my budget. I can afford to make monthly payments of around $100, but he was pretty much making all sorts of plans and none of them really make any sense or was close to what I wanted to do with my teeth.

I did a small bit of research and found that a bite plate would fix the deep bite problem and a few braces on the top front would fix the crooked teeth. It seems much more affordable and well within his abilities.

During the consultation, I hardly got a word in edgewise and he didn't seem to like that I have limited funds. When I finally could ask about the bite plate instead, he didn't have a good excuse as to why the full-mouth brackets were a better option and basically cut me off. I feel like I'm being bullied into spending more money. I have met someone who had only a few braces in the front, so I'm sure this isn't an unheard-of situation. Do I have the right to ask him to do only what I want done? Will he refuse?

I understand he is a professional and knows better than I do about what needs to be done, but he didn't seem to take what I wanted into consideration at all. None of my other teeth are crooked.

I feel like he's trying to squeeze more money out of me than necessary and I can't afford all the work he wants to do.

Has anyone else been through this?

    Thanks so much!

  • Why has the company not responded?

My husband applied for a job that he is very qualified for and experienced with. After sending in a cover letter, resume, and salary history/requirement paperwork, they contact him and are very interested. They mentioned that they are hiring for the position that he's applied for and it's most likely that he is one of very few applicants that are even qualified, if not the only one.

They sent him an evaluation to complete and mentioned that they will call him for an interview once he's completed and done very well on it. Well, he took it and did great. Said it was easier than he thought and was pleased with his results.

After receiving the evaluation back, the company thanked him and said to be expecting a call within a few weeks. Well... it's been almost a month since then, and he's even sent a follow-up email to check up on how things were going if to make sure they had everything they needed from him, as well as adding that he was still very interested in the position.

Still not a single reply! I don't get it. They were so very interested, the position needs filling, he's very qualified and most likely the only person as qualified and he did very well on the evaluation...

What could have gone wrong? Is there still a chance that he will be hired? Is this how the hiring process works for big companies?

    Thanks!

  • What causes these symptoms?

I've tried going to Web MD, but I can't put in all the symptoms, as they're not all in a single area. This is what's going on:

The day before last, out of nowhere and feeling fine, I get the worst case of itchy eyes I've ever had. Nothing worked to ease the discomfort. The next day, I wake up feeling fine, go to my living room, and within a matter of minutes, start having labored breathing that makes me wheeze while inhaling and exhaling, as well as coughing. My eyes are still itchy, but not half as bad.

The coughing breaks up the wheezing, and (sorry a bit graphic) clear and white flem comes out. But it only takes a few seconds and the wheezing is back. My throat, underneath my chin and in the back of my mouth, as well as deep inside my ears start to itch.

It sounds like an allergic reaction, but I have no idea as to what could have caused it. I didn't eat anything before this and I take no medications. I have a cat and a dog, but I've had them for years without any problems. Breathing deep or laughing brings on coughing fits and my chest feels like it's going to rip apart every time I cough now.

I really want to avoid going to any doctor, as I don't have insurance and I already owe them from the last time I got sick, which was nothing like this.

The coughing has subsided as long as I take slow, shallow breaths, but I can't sleep that way and have been up for hours.

Anyone else go through this or knows what causes this? What I can take over the counter?

  • Is this job guaranteed if...?

Well, guaranteed is a stronger word than I intended, but here's the situation:

My husband applied for a job that would require them flying him over 4 states away for an interview. So far, they've been interested enough to give him a call, ask for a copy of his resume, send him an evaluation to take for the company, and decide on where to go from there if he does well enough on it. He would be making WAY MORE than he is now, which pays the bills just fine.

He has a lot of education and experience that the position requires, so I think his chances are really good. My question is, if they decide to fly him out for an interview, and they do pay for the flight there and back, should we start making plans to relocate? I mean, what could he tell them in person that his resume, cover letter, and phone calls don't already explain? Is it still a major 'if' if they do, or is it just more of they just want to meet the person they're about to hire?

The reason I ask is, if he gets the job, we have to move within at least 1 hour of an airport, and I will travel with him, so we will have to make arrangements for our house. And would they spend that kind of money to fly and house him for an interview if the chances weren't good of hiring him?

Have you gone through this before? Any things we should consider?

Oh, and we don't have kids and I don't have a job, so really a mortgage is all we would have to make arrangements for, which is ok, because he'll make enough to keep up payments while it's for sale and we would live out of motel rooms until we decide where to live. It sounds too good to be true, but the company has confirmed that this would be the deal if he's hired.

What do you think? Sorry so long. :)

  • Bartenders... What's this drink called?

My friend suggested it and I never know what to ask for without having to tell the bartenders every ingredient to mix together. And I've asked several bartenders what the drink may be called, but I've gotten at least four different answers.

It's a mixture of Vodka, Red Bull, and grenadine. I've heard it called all of the following, but no one is sure:

    ~Fire

    ~Sky Bull

    ~Red Sky

and some others I can't remember at the moment.

Does anyone know what this drink is called, or does it have a name???

    Thanks!

  • I mat be getting a BMW. Is the upkeep expensive?

I drive a 1999 Mazda Protege that's giving me hell. An assortment of problems that are going to take quite a bit of upfront cash to fix.

My father, who has been looking for me another car, found a 1994 BMW that has nothing wrong with it for $1000. As you've noticed, I don't have upfront cash, but my cousin offered to buy the BMW for me and trade him my Mazda in return because of the excellent mpg. He knows there are problems and I assume doesn't care.

What should I consider when deciding. I've gotten another vehicle before that proved less than dependable, but my Mazda was sitting aside when I needed it. This time would mean that I don't have my Mazda to fall back on should anything go wrong.

I would like some answers and opinions that are knowledgeable to the situation and said models. Thanks so much.

  • Is this cause for divorce or separation?

Backstory: I married my boyfriend of 2 years when I was 20, he was 26. He took me out, spoiled me beyond words, and coddled me all the time. He lived this his mother, but I assumed he was saving up for his own place or something because he had a really good job and great credit.

Well, after marriage, it all changed. The money got slim, but we make it just fine with a little to spend each week, but he stopped being nice, he expects me to take care of most of the bills (which I don't mind 50/50), and leaves me huge messes to clean up when I get home from work and/or college.

He got a dog that is house trained, but if it messes in the house, he'll leave it there all day for me to clean up when I get home.

I work longer hours with school and work combined and get home around 8, and the first thing he asks me is what I'm making for supper, despite him being home already for 3-5 hours.

His mother tells him that it's my job to take care of him, no matter if he didn't have a job or not because that's the way their family is, but it feels so unfair. I wouldn't mind one bit doing all of this if I didn't work harder, longer hours than he does and I even pay more & of the bills that we share.

I've pressed through this for nearly 4 years trying to get him to agree to a 50/50 help on housework and bills, but just last week he called and said "I added another line to the phone bill. It's going to be $40 more a month." And didn't even tell me first. We each have a line already, PLUS one my dad is paying for, but now we have a free line for no one just because the phone he bought was on sale.

I've had it and I don't know what else to do. When I try to talk to him, he just gets defensive and starts making everything out to be my fault and we end up fighting.

Sorry so long, but I've already left out a lot of other stuff. Please, only answer if you know someone who has been through this or are going through this yourself. Thanks.

  • Opinions of older parents and young adults?

I was a bit caught off-guard by my father a while back by a comment he made regarding my lack of responsibility. His comment was, " You need to quit playing those d*amn video games and grow up!"

Here's my argument: I'm 23, I live with my 28 yr old husband. We have no kids. I'm going to college for nursing and doing quite well. I play xbox in my spare time, which is only 2-3 times a week, and not usually more than an hour per session.

If I'm taking care of my bills, as well as bettering myself with college and I'm not neglecting my family, what am I doing wrong?

I thought the definition of 'adult' was one's ability to take care of their business, which I'm doing just fine. But he still says I'm childish and irresponsible.

What do you as parents of young adults think?

  • PCOS and infertility?

I understand why I haven't been able to conceive and my doctor says I'm not releasing eggs, even if I have a menstrual cycle.

So, what happens to the eggs that I don't release? Are they safe to stay where they are, or will they wither and die?

When I do decide to have children for sure, will my eggs be ok?

  • Stereo plays CD's, but no sound when I switch to radio?

I had just bought my new stereo because my old one stopped working. Well, the new one played fine (CDs and radio) at first until my battery died. When the battery was recharged, the radio part had no sound, though the screen showed the station and cds play just fine.

My battery died again later, and I bought a new one. The radio started working again, but then stopped. CDs still play just fine. I just got Sirius satellite radio turned on, but still no sound. I moved the battery wires a bit, but nothing.

Radio Shack and auto part places can't help me because I didn't buy the stereo from them, I can't afford a new one, and I din't have the reciept anymore for the one I got.

Simplified: CDs play, radio channels don't.

Is is faulty wiring, or just hooked up wrong? Which color wire should I check?

  • Cars similar to the RX-8?

I love the way the Mazda rx8 looks, and I saw something similar to it, but I forgot what it was. I'm not good with makes and models of cars. Lol!

But anyway, if you could provide some pics of very similar style cars, I'll pick the right one by choosing that person as best answer.

  • Can you exchange one house for another?

My friend and I were talking about relocating, but I'm currently under a mortgage. I thought I wanted to stay in south GA for the rest of my life, but now that I'm kind of stuck, I'm not so sure.

I can afford to pay the mortgage just fine, but now I'm curious about this.

Do banks allow you to switch out a mortgage on one house for another of equal or lesser value? Like, can you move into a different house that costs the same or less and they sell your old house?

Just a thought that popped up, and I don't see why banks wouldn't, since it could be very profitable for them.

Oh, and how are people able to move out and pay to live somewhere else while selling their house? Do they still have to pay the mortgage if they're selling it?

And please, if you don't know for 100% sure, don't answer. It's confusing to see someone just trying to get points with uninformative answers that are wrong and misleading. You will get a thumbs down.

Thanks to the serious answerers. Thumbs up to you.
