Hello.

  • Insurance Information at the Scene of a Minor Accident?

    Hi.

Today while parking, I lightly bumped the car in front without noticing. The lady who owned the car immediately started angrily talking to me and demanded that I give her my insurance information or she would call the police. I didn't feel comfortable giving her the insurance information, so I told her to call the police. When the police came, the officer saw no damage at all on her car, so didn't file a report. So in the end, nothing happened.

I was wondering, if this happens again, is it okay to just give the other driver my insurance information without calling the police? Can they file false claims to my insurance company that will raise my insurance rate?

What is the smart thing to do at the scene of a minor accident where there was no damage?

  • I want to talk to a doctor about height?

    Hi!

I'm 14 and 5'2, which is pretty short. I'm still growing, but not a lot since I have already gone through my growth spurt. I want to be a little taller, like 5'4 and was wondering if I could talk to a doctor about this? What kind of doctor could help me with this and prescribe a growth supplement?

My mom is totally up for this, so we went to talk to my regular doctor who didn't really help me. I was wondering if there was a specific kind of doctor that could talk to me about this? Is it weird if I approach them with this topic?

    Thanks!!!

  • I feel bad? (20 characters)?

    Hi!

Today I was showing in a hack class (flat only) with about 12 other horses. When I started the canter, I circled because my horse was bent a little too much. I circled and ended up next to a couple of horses (Not extremely close, I left space of course). One of the riders got bucked off around me and I don't know if it was my fault or not. I don't know if her horse bucked first and then sent my horse into a little fit (Small buck head throw) or vise versa. I feel bad, but on the other hand, horses are always really close when at shows and most of them are fine about it. I just feel really bad right now.

I know if I was in her shoes, and she was in mine, I wouldn't be angry or mad. But I don't know about other people. I'm one of those people who worry about everything, so please just give me some advice or some of your thoughts.

    Thanks.

  • HITS Ribbons? *Answer if you have gone to HITS before*?

    Hi!

I know if you don't claim your ribbons right after the class at HITS, you can ask for them in the office later on. Is this right?

How do I ask for my ribbons? And how long do they keep the unclaimed ribbons before you can't receive them?

    Thanks!!

  • Can Someone Explain This To Me? Horseshow?

    Hi!

I was looking at the results for a horse show online, and the classes were split into A and B. There was a total of 28 horses competing in the class, and I go fifth place in Split A. Does that mean I was fifth of 14 horses? There was another fifth place for Split B. Please explain this for me.

    Thanks.

  • Placings and Ribbons at HITS?

    Hi!

I competed at HITS on the Hudson today, in the pre-childrens, and probably didn't place in the top 8, but I do have a question. Where do you find the results of each class after they announce it? And where do you go to claim your ribbon?

If you leave before hearing the results, can you receive your ribbon the next day or do they give it to your barn or what?

    Thanks!

  • Equitation Counter Canter? (Repost with more details)?

    Hi!

I am going to HITS Saugerties and am showing in the Maiden Equitation. I was wondering, will I need to do a counter canter in this class? Or is that only for the Big Eq.?

    Thanks!

  • Equitation Counter Canter?

    Hi!

I'm entering Maiden Equitation and was wondering if the judges ask for a counter canter in every equitation flat class, or is it just for the Big Eq.?

    Thanks!

  • USEF Question! Extremely Important: Transferring Ownership?

    Hi!

I'm about to transfer ownership of my new horse with USEF, and am a little bit worried. I'm going to HITS in 10 days, so I need my horse registered under my name. I have copied the Bill Of Sale and have wrote a letter stating that I want to transfer ownership. I will also include the transfer fee of $60. Is that right?

Can the $60 dollars be cash or does it have to be a cheque?

Do I need to have my horse's USEF card in order to enter classes, or do I just need the number? When I signed up for USEF, they gave me a temporary card to print, but I'm mailing this time. Can I transfer ownership online?

    Thanks!

  • 2 Showing Questions? Going to HITS for the first time!?

    Hi!

I'm going to HITS in two weeks, and naturally, I have some questions:

    1. What is the difference between a regular hunter class and a hunter classic? Is hunter classic a hunter class?

    2. Do you think I will need white breeches for this show? It's my first and I'm probably doing children's hunter. I know white breeches are for hunter classics. Are hunter classics for more advanced riders?

Also, if you are willing to answer any future questions of mine, could you include an email address or a note saying you will?

    Thanks!

  • Posting without stirrups question? (Kind of Weird)?

    Hi!

This question is a little odd, and feel like a freak asking it. This is completely serious, I swear. Yesterday my trainer asked me to drop my stirrups and post without them for ten minutes. It was pure torture, haha. I can stand the leg pain but what I can't stand is my crotch area rubbing. (I'm a girl). I think it's the seam on the breeches, but I'm not sure. It rubs me a little raw and I can't stand it. My instructor told me to practice posting stirrup-less, which I tried to do today, but even normal riding brought back the pain (it's not terrible, but it hurts). When I ride normally, this doesn't happen. I know my trainer will make me ride without stirrups tomorrow, so I'm wondering, does this happen to any one else?

Am I posting wrong? Keep in mind my trainer is a great rider and trainer, so he would tell me if something was wrong.

Any way I can prevent the rubbing?

Thanks so much. Serious answers only.

  • Different Colors (20 Characters)?

    Hi!

I was wondering, does it matter if your bridle and saddle don't match in color when in the Hunter Ring?

I'm going to show in "A" shows, and was wondering if it was okay if my bridle and saddle don't match. I know the attire and tack are very strict in the Hunter ring.

    Thanks!

  • My little 'off' Day? Semi-poll included.?

    Hi!

I just got back from the barn and I am feeling a little bit depressed. When I was riding today, I felt like I wasn't with the horse, I felt like my riding was "off" today. Is this normal?

I rode one of my horses in a lesson today. He did great, but I felt unbalanced and couldn't follow his movement over jumps very well. After riding him, I hacked my QH gelding, but felt even more unbalanced. My position was off and my legs kept moving. After a couple of minutes, I decided to call it quits since it wasn't helping me or my horse. Was that the right thing to do?

Also, the first horse I rode has a smooth trot, so when I started riding the other, I felt like I was being jolted out of the saddle. Now I'm debating: Was he unusually bump because I rode a smooth horse before him or was he a tiny bit lame? I'm not used to riding two horses in one day since I just purchased a new one. How can I keep my leg from moving when I ride a bouncy horse?

How often do you have "off" days?

    Thanks!

  • Exercises I Can Do With My Horse While Hacking?

    Hi!

I just bought a new horse about two weeks ago and my trainer is already planning for me to go to HITS in a month. I know that we can do it, but I want to get more confident with my new horse and develop a bond with him. That's why I'm asking about fun exercises that I can do with my horse. The only problem is that I cannot jump during hacks, so everything must be on the flat.

So what are your favorite things to do while riding? What will help me get more confident on my horse?

    Thanks!!

  • Semi- Horse related Question. HS People answer best?

    Hi!

I'm one of those worry-wart people who stress about everything. So please give me your opinion on this:

A couple of days ago I asked an instructor (who I am comfortable with) for advice on Tailored Sportsman Breeches. I usually help out with the after school program and camp as a volunteer. The instructor was extremely kind while explaining which breeches would be best for me. She even let me ride in hers. She gave me the item numbers of a couple of breeches in the Dover catalog, so I thought she wanted me to order the breeches online. But, on Sunday she was like, "So you'll ask your mom about the breeches?" which made me think that she wanted to order them for me. I'm a little confused now. I don't know if she wants to order them for me with commission or not. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

  • The Tailored Sportsman Breeches? Do you have a Pair?

    Hi!

I would love some sizing information on the Tailored Sportsman Breeches. So if you have a pair, please whip them out and fill out a chart below.

    Style (if known):

    Gender:

    Size:

    Length (Short, Regular, Long):

    Inseam:

I am looking to buy Tailored Sportsman breeches. I know I'm a 26, but I don't know what length. It's either a short or regular for me. I have looked everywhere for a sizing chart with lengths, but no luck . I'm 5'2, so if you know which I should get, please tell me.

Also, where are breeches supposed to end? (Mid calf, ankle?)

    Thank you!

  • Is This Normal With a New Horse?

    Hi!

I just purchased a new horse who is absolutely amazing. He's reliable, has a good mind, and gets me out of trouble. I rode him today by myself for the first time and he did everything I asked for, but I don't feel as confident on him as I do on a horse I have had for a year. Is this normal?

I did ride him before I bought him, but that was during lessons with my trainer. I always ride better during lessons. Today while I was hacking, I always felt the canter was too fast, but it wasn't. It feels faster under me but the horse is actually going at a slow speed. Is this just because I'm not used to his stride?

Don't get me wrong here, I think this horse is absolutely perfect for me. I just need some reassurance that I will feel more comfortable and confident with my new horse.

    Thanks!

  • Show Breeches vs. Schooling?

    Hi!

When I'm buying breeches online, how can I tell if they are made for showing or schooling? I'm going to show soon, and my trainer wants to bring me to HITS. It's a really big show, so I want to get it right.

For The Tailored Sportsmen, are they all show worthy?

Also, in the Dover Catalog, they always say 'breech', but some of them are riding tights. Like the irideons. How do I tell if they fit like a breech or tights?

    Thanks!

  • Devoucoux Saddles and Tack? Do you own one?

    Hi!

I'm looking into buying a devoucoux saddle, because I just bought another horse. These saddles are custom-fitted to the horse, so it would be perfect for me, since I have two horses. I looked on their website, and found all the different saddle styles. If I do get a new saddle, I would of course want a matching bridle and girth. I looked at the bridles and girths, but none of them are "normal". There are bridles, but they are either figure 8s or double reined. There is also no straight hunter girths.

I want something like this but they don't have them:

    http://www.doversaddlery.com/rodrigo-fancy-stitche...

    http://www.doversaddlery.com/pessoa-legacy-split-e...

Is that odd? Do you think if I bought a saddle, I could find other tack to match it?

    Thanks!
