I' like to studdy religious believes. I just don't understand what makes people believe. Its an interesting puzzle...
A question for those who are anti-abortion on religious grounds:?
If we should not abort the fetus that was the result of a rape, because it's God's will that this fetus should become a baby and be born.
Then wasn't the rape also God's will?
And as a result, the rapist was only God's instrument and not responsible for his actions and should go free and unpunished for his deeds?
Just wondering......
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoDo you agree with this statement about the Bible?
PZ Myers said on his blog:
"There’s a scheme at work to put a Bible in every school in England, and Richard Dawkins approves. I do too,....
The Bible really is a great evangelical tool for atheists. It is such a wicked book of lies and bad advice that it handily discredits Christian claims of righteousness......"
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoDo you think an oath sworn with "so help me God" is better or worse than one that done not include it?
Just wanted your opinions please.
Or comment my statement if you prefer:
Personally the phase "so help me God" is no different for me to "so help me Micky Mouse" as I don't believe in the supernatural. Therefor using the phrase just makes the oath a joke and invalidates it and anything it refers to. Therefore, as I never know if anyone really believe in god (even if he claims to do. There are so many atheists in the pews and on the pulpits), I would never trust an oath that invokes a god or consider being bound by such an oath. It's most likely just fun. just a joke...
If on the other hand I make an oath that commits me, and just me , I will definitely take it seriously.
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoWhy should I believe in Jesus, but reject the devinety of Zeus, Ahura Mazda, Brahman, etc.?
Other than the fact that Christianity is currently one of the dominant religions on this planet, I don't see any real difference in the reliability of its claims to that of any other religion that might have had that place in the past (or might take that place in the near future, like Islam could temporarily do).
Why?
They all have holy books;
all have fulfilled "prophesy";
al have claims for miracles;
all claim to be the "truth";
etc. ....
13 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoIs Christianety the true European, western Religion?
After all, it was Christian missionaries and conquerors who eliminated the true European religions by murdering the priests and spiritual leaders as well as desecrating and destroying the temples and holy sites of the Kelts and other Germanic and Northern Tribes who are native to Europe and the ancestors of what is nowadays called the "Western world".
Wouldn't that mal it an "alien", foreign religion to Europeans and their descendants?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoWhat is the purpose of an eternal life in heaven, after death?
Believers tend to ask me what purpose life on earth has if there is no life after death.
Actually my life has a lot of purpose, if you ask me....
What I don't get is what would be the sense of an eternal life in some place called heaven?
16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoWhere in the Bible do I find the ten commandments?
I've looked and looked....
I found Exodus 34:28 "And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments"
But if you read them, they don't sound like the ones we learned!
According to that list the 10th commandment is "The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring unto the house of the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk."
And all the others look strange as well....
Who can explain this to me?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoWhy is it wrong not to hire some one just because of their strong religious believes?
Especially if they do believe in a god. After all, they do have to fit into the team. And is it fair for everyone else to have to tip toe around their religion, avoid casual topics of conversation just because they risk offending the believer?
It would just be misery for every one involved, including the strong believer.
So isn't it better not to hire someone like that, if it is up to you?
17 AnswersReligion & Spirituality9 years agoWhy was Jesus' body removed from the cross and buried?
After all, one of the main objectives of crucifixion was to shock people and deter them from doing the same thing as the person crucified.
So the body was always left on the cross to rot and decay in pubic.
You can't terrorize people if you remove the tool you're using to terrify them with (i.e. the body of the person on the cross)
Like the saying goes: out of sight, out of mind. So you don't want the corpse removed from sight....
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat animal did Jesus use to ride into Jerusalem on? A young horse, or a donkey?
Luke 19:
30 “Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 31 If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it.’”
Matthew 21:
2 saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”
You don't honestly think that a grown man could have ridden on a donkey colt. Do you know how small thy are? So it must have been either a horse colt or an adult donkey.
What was it?
15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoChristians only please: How do I know that the Bible is really the true word of God?
There must be more than just "blind faith"?
Please help?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoI have heard people refer to religion as "the God Virus". Isn't that very offensive?
There's even a web-page with that name! www.thegodvirus.net
20 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow long was it between the time of Noah / the flood and the building of the Tower of Babel?
Because there must have been massive population growth in that period of time to get from a population of 8 humans (some of them, like Noah) many centuries old (he was over 600 years old according to the Bible when he build the Ark) to a world population that could be scattered and punished with different languages so that they would be unable to interact.
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDo you think that the Pope really believes in God and Jesus?
After all, he must have so much inside information. And all of it contradictory.
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoShould I respect a religious opinion?
Because I always thought: Respect has to be earned. If it isn't it's meaningless.
5 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoChristians: Do you find open, "in your face" atheism offensive?
And why?

15 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoI'm looking for a Bible verse that says that abortion is a sin. Help please?
Abortion basically says that "a buch of cells" isn't human life and can be removed.
Makes sense to me. After all, look at all the natural miscarriges at that stage of development.
It cant be a sin to take "the morning after" pill and to abort that way? Can it?
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoChristians: What type of government does God want us to have on earth? Democracy, Dictatorship or Monarchy?
Please back up your claim with a relevant Bible verse.

25 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDoes a human clone have a soul?
Does the clone have it's own soul or does he share a soul with the person he is a clone of?
And if he does have his own soul, where does it come from seeing as he isn't conceived normally?
PS: I know its illegal in just about every country, but it's technically possible and who's going to stop some dictator from cloning himself or letting someone else clone himself for a little fee into his private bank acount...
